Beatrice is waiting for Nate on the couch where she waited for him last night; she feels sad as she hasn’t seen Nate this whole day. It’s giving her thoughts about something is wrong or what Nate is doing, why he left so early that day, and why he seems to arrive very late at night.
That night, Beatrice confronts Nate as she can’t stand his treatment of her. This is different from what she used to.
She is waiting for Nate again, and this time, she ensures she won’t fall asleep anymore.
“Beatrice, why are you still up? it’s already late at night, and you should be resting now.” Celestine, who was walking downstairs, said and walked towards Beatrice.
Beatrice gives her a small smile before she looks at the front door again.
“I am waiting for Nate’s mom,” Beatrice said, so Celestine sat beside her and removed her hair, blocking her face.
“Don’t wait for him, Beatrice. Nate informed me that she needs to do lots of work today, so that he will be late tonight.” Celestine said, even though Natee didn’t say anything to her. Just like Beatrice, Celestine is also wondering what is happening to Nate.
“You need to sleep. It harms the baby if you stay up late,” Celestine said, so Beatrice looked at her.
“Did I do something that made Nate change his treatment of me, Mom?” Beatrice asked, so Celestine immediately shook her head in answer.
“You didn’t do anything, dear. I guess Nate was just busy with his business. don’t worry, I will scold him later, but you need to sleep for now.” Celestine said, so Beatrice smiled at her and nodded.
“Come on, let’s go to your room. I will wait for Nate and talk to him about it.” Celestine added and helped Beatrice stand and guided her to their room.
On the other hand, Nate looked up at the sky and drank the canned beer he was holding. He is in the park, where he decides to stay for an hour before he goes home. He just wanted to be alone and think about the situation right now.
He can’t face Beatrice because he is disgusted with himself about what he did to Caliber. Nate wanted to hug Caliber earlier, but he stopped himself as he was thinking about Beatrice and the baby she was carrying now.
Nate couldn’t take responsibility for Caliber because the baby inside Beatrice’s womb would be killed if he did that.
After an hour of being alone in the park, Nate decided to go home, and he hopped in his car and drove to his house.
While driving, Nate’s mind is occupied, and he can’t think straight again. He is facing a big problem, and Nate knows that if he tells this to anyone, it might cause a big mess.
After minutes of driving, Nate arrived at his house, and as soon as he got out of his car, he saw his mom standing outside the door, and he knew she was waiting for him.
Nate fixed his mood in the meantime and walked towards his mom’s direction with a smile.
“Mom, why are you still up? It’s too late in the evening now.” Nate said, but Celestine was looking at him with her darkened eyes.
“Why are you late, Nate?” Celestine asked him immediately as soon as he came closer to his mom.
“I have a lot of work and papers to sign in my office, Mom.” Nate’s excuse, but Celestine didn’t believe him.
“That’s why you smell the beer, huh,” Celestine said and laughed.
Nate was stunned by his mother’s words. he knew he couldn’t hide anything from his mom, so he took a deep breath and looked in another direction.
“What is happening to you, Nate?” Celestine asked. Nate just said something about her question now. He couldn’t remove in his head that Caliber looked like him.
“If there is something wrong, you can tell it to me. Beatrice is asking me if she did something to you because she’s so clueless about your behavior,” Celestine added and took a deep breath to calm herself.
“You can tell me what’s wrong, Nate. You don’t need to keep it to yourself.” Nate looked at his mom and wondered if he would tell the truth to her.
“It’s nothing, Mom,” Nate said, but Celestine crossed her arms as she knew her son was lying.
“I know you’re lying,” Celestine said, so Nate looked at his mom again.
“You can’t hide anything from me, Nate. Tell me what’s wrong.” She added that Nate swallowed the moment his mom looked at him so severely.
“I’m serious. it’s nothing, Mom.” Nate tried to act cool, but Celestine had already read his action, so she came near her son and looked him in the eye, making Nate’s guard turn down.
“Eille told me that we have a son, Mom.” He said so. Celestine was stunned and looked at Nate so severely. Nate turned his gaze to the other direction and took a deep breath.
“She what?” Nate fixed his gaze on the sky as he held his tears back.
“And earlier this morning, I met him,” Nate added, so Celestine was even more stunned by what he said.
“His name is Caliber, and I think he is around 3 or 4 years old,” Nate added, so Celestine looked away and didn’t know what to say.
Just like Nate, she knows the rules in their clan and knows that her son is now facing a difficult situation.
“Caliber looked like me when I was a child, Mom, and I was confused about how that happened as I know that nothing happened between me and Eille,” Nate added and looked at his mom.
“I don’t know what to do, and I don’t know what I should do to escape this mess.” He added, so Celestine looked at him and hugged him.
“Shh, be strong. I’m on your back, son, don’t worry,” Celestine said while hugging Nate. She knows how hard it is, especially since he is the alpha of their clan. The number one rule for alpha is that they are not allowed to have a child in different persons. If that happens, the second person’s child will be killed.
In Nate’s situation, the first person will automatically be Eille, as her child is much older than the unborn child of Beatrice, and the court people will automatically see Beatrice as the second person.
Celestine knows how much Nate loves Beatrice, and it hurts her too on her part, knowing that his son is facing a difficult situation now.
“I will do anything I can, Nate, don’t worry.” Celestine comforts Nate.
