Beatrice put the flower on her sister’s tombstone and lit the candle. After that, she stood again and looked at the Name engraved on the stone. Beatrice smiled and tilted her head to Nate, who was looking at the tombstone. Beatrice knows that he is shocked because of what he sees now.
“Nate, this is my sister, Margarett.” Beatrice introduces Nate, “Margarett, this is Nate, my husband.” She added, so Nate looked at her with a smile. Beatrice took a deep breath and looked at the sky.
“This is the first time I introduced someone to her after she died,” Beatrice whispered, returning her gaze to Nate. “I knew that you’re thinking now that I am crazy because I’m talking to her even though she’s not here,” Beatrice said, so Nate suddenly shooked and disagreed.
“It’s normal to talk to death people,” Nate said, smiling at Beatrice. “I used to do that when my pet died.” He added, which made Beatrice smile. “I am just wondering how similar you are with her,” Nate said, so Beatrice suddenly got something in her pocket.
“This is us.” She said as she showed Nate the picture of her with her sister. “This is me with the pink dress, and this is her with her favorite color yellow dress.” She said so. Nate was amazed as he saw that they were similar to each other. Every angle of them is the same.
“It looks like you’re a Xerox copy,” Nate commented, making Beatrice laugh.
“That’s what every person told us,” Beatrice said, putting the picture on the tombstone. “The only difference is our personality,” Beatrice said and smiled as she remembered how stubborn she was while Margarett was like a golden retriever, a very good person in everyone’s eye.
“Did Margarett know your relationship with Darwin?” Nate asked, so Beatrice stopped as she remembered how Margarett always told her to stay away from Darwin because Margarett wanted her to have a bright future, but she didn’t listen to her as she followed what her heart wanted and that was her mistake, it leads her to become a different person she never knows.
“Yeah,” Beatrice answered and looked at Nate. “She didn’t like him as my boyfriend back then because she knew how Darwin thought, and I didn’t listen to her,” Beatrice said in her disappointed voice. She was very disappointed in herself.
Nate held Beatrice’s hand, which made Beatrice’s heart beat fast again, and the unexplained electricity flowed to her body, which made her feel thrilled and, at the same time, safe as Nate held her hand.
“I know she’s happy now because you finally learned your lesson,” Nate said, making Beatrice smile.
“And I hope she forgives me for stealing her identity to marry you,” Beatrice added, so Nate laughed, and unexpectedly Nate grabbed her to hug, which stunned Beatrice, and her heart beat faster than earlier.
“I’m sure that she’s smiling at you now because she knew that you’re safe now, safe by my side,” Nate whispered to her ears, which gave her a goosebump.
After a few hours, they decided to leave the cemetery, and Nate drove his car to his family’s Mansion, the well-known Vowell Mansion, as all his family was living there except him because he wanted space.
“Where are we gonna go now?” Beatrice asked as she saw that they were not heading to the Mansion.
“To my family,” Nate said, which made Beatrice anxious as she remembered that Nate would introduce her to his family. She’s not ready to face them all. After all, Beatrice did to Nate, they all know what Beatrice did to their son. And now she was afraid that his family would dislike her. Nate saw that Beatrice became uneasy as he said that, so he grabbed Beatrice’s right hand and kissed the back of it, making Beatrice stop as she looked at Nate holding her hand.
“Don’t be scared; they probably like you,” Nate said and gave her a look for a sec and then turned his gaze their way.
Beatrice swallowed and smiled at him bitterly.
“I’m not… prepared for this.” Beatrice said, “They will dislike me because of what I did.” She added; Nate laughed and looked at her.
“They didn’t know,” Nate said, making Beatrice stop and look at him. “I didn’t tell them, to be honest; I never tell what happened to anyone. I don’t know why Clerophine knows the news.” He added, so Beatrice was suddenly relieved as Nate said that.
At least she knew that Nate never talked to her back. Beatrice smiled at him and looked out the window.
“Are you sure you’re gonna introduce me to your family?” Beatrice asked. “Is it too much, Nate? I have never done something good to you, and I also don’t know how to repay all of your kindness to me, and now-”
“Just forget what you told me the first time we met,” Nate said, so Beatrice turned her gaze to Nate, who now has a severe aura. Beatrice frowned because of what he said.
“What do you mean?” Beatrice asked, so Nate looked at her.
“The deal you made before we married each other,” Nate said, so Beatrice suddenly remembered that part when she told Nate never to fall in love with her. Beatrice suddenly looked at Nate.
“I know that it sounds cheesy. Let’s forget the deal, Beatrice, because I’ve already fallen to you, Nate said, turning his gaze in front. Beatrice suddenly blushed and smiled because of what he said. She always needs help understanding herself. After so many years, she experienced the ‘princess treatment’ in the relationship, which she only shared for a month when Darwin was courting her. Beatrice suddenly stops as she thinks of something, “What if he will just treat me like this at first?” Beatrice asked herself while looking at Nate. Nate saw how Beatrice looked at him and saw he smiled at her.
“What’s wrong?” Nate asked her. Beatrice just smiled bitterly and shook her head.
“Nothing.’
“What’s wrong,” Nate asked again with his serious voice. “You’re thinking about something.” He added, so Beatrice took a deep breath and looked in the other direction.
“Darwin used to do the same thing you’re doing right now,” Beatrice said, so Nate looked at her. “He did those things when he was courting me,” Beatrice added, taking a deep breath. “And after how many months did his attitude suddenly change and treat me so differently from the start,” Beatrice said, looking at Nate.
“I was just thinking of you’re the same with him.” When Beatrice said that, Nate suddenly pulled his car to the sideway and stopped driving as he looked so severe to Beatrice.
“I didn’t mean to offend you. I’m just scared of what-” Beatrice didn’t continue what she was about to say when Nate suddenly kissed her lips, which made her stop as she felt Nate’s lips.
It was a smack, but Beatrice’s kiss was so long that she couldn’t breathe.
“I know you’re scared it will happen to you again,” Nate said as he looked at her. “But the thing is, I am not Darwin, and I am your husband already. I will court you every day to prove that I am not like him,” Nate said, so Beatrice’s heart beat fast again because of his words.
“I will court you till the day our hair turns white and our skin gets old, Beatrice,” Nate added as he looked at her thoughtfully.
