Chapter 43 – The king’s weakness

” I want snow rolls” I moaned immediately the sun rays reflected on my face. I have not even opened my eyes but my food cravings were high on edge already.
” What?” Treven grunted sleepily beside me and wrapped his arms around my body tighter. My mouth waters at the thought of biting into the chocolate goodness so early in the morning.
” Snow rolls”
” It’s too early to eat that. I will have the maids bring you your breakfast” He mumbled but I shook my head trying to get out of his hold. But his grip was too strong on my waist. I opened my eyes to see him hovering over me with a tired smile on his face. His chiseled naked chest was close to my face, my mouth watered, and I forgot my initial chocolate cravings as I stared at the goodies in front of me.
” If you keep looking at me like that, I might be forced to think that you have mistaken my chest for your little snacks” He smiled and I blushed, lifting my body to meet his halfway. He shifted a little bit and my newly escaped arms shot out to wrap around his neck. His chest was directly on my bare breast and I held back a moan at the sensation. I placed a kiss at the corner of his lips instead but he grabbed me and kissed me fully. I don’t think I ever appreciate how good his kisses always feel enough.
” Well I would love to know other parts of my body that can be mistaken for a snow roll later,” He asked with an amused smile. His hand went to the lower part of my stomach and he gave it a little pat. ” How is my little prince doing?” He cooed and I blushed. I’m still getting used to being pregnant with this man, he makes everything look like paradise to me. How did I ever get so lucky?
” Or little princess?” I said with a pout, I don’t have a preference. I only want a child I can call mine but teasing him once in a while remains a favorite hobby of mine. ” Nope. He is a prince. The Queen’s firstborns are always the heir”
” What if that is not the case this time around? What if?”
” No, my dear. It has always been the case. Don’t worry you will have your princess later” He said with a confident smirk that made my insides churn like butter. I think I am falling in love with this man but I can’t be so sure. The bond between us has grown even beyond my imagination but I don’t know if my heart can be opened again to another after being trampled on by Patrick so many times. I still live with the thought that Treven might change towards me but I dread the day that change will come.
Speaking about Patrick, He left Nayak with both of his arms bandaged and his ego bruised beyond recognition. It was a foolish move to challenge the king of Nayak for his chosen Queen. The reason why Treven hesitated to kill him was because Their mothers were related but if he had said one more word. He wouldn’t have been able to return to Ruqgu. The apology from Ruqgu arrived yesterday and the tributes were sent including a gift from my father. He sent Eria to me as a gift hoping I would forgive him for turning his back on me when I needed him the most. Now that my family knows I am the Queen of Nayak, they all want my forgiveness. I do not want to have anything to do with them again.
” But I want three princesses,” I said and he nodded eagerly. ” Anything for you my Queen”
After Our breakfast together, The head of the royal physician came to check on my health and how the baby was inside me. She said the baby was as healthy as ever but asked me to take more rest. She left after feeding me a bitter concoction that was supposed to help with the baby.
“your majesty” Annalise greeted me cheerfully with a bow, Eria was right behind her with a face as red as a tomato. She was blushing at whatever Annalise said. I wonder what was going on between those two.
I ignored them and gathered the skirt of my dress, I was going to try and heal Konan and Linda with the tears so they could also have children. The royal physician confirmed that the dangerous ingredients Meisi was feeding us already damaged both of their wombs since both of them had been consuming it years before me. They were already waiting at the temple praying to Natalí since no Queen had ever attempted to heal barrenness with the tears before. They were praying to Natalí to make it work.
” Greetings Your Majesty” A new deep voice greeted me as I was about to enter the palanquin that would take me to the temple. I turned around and I found the pompous man I met at the marketplace the other day. I used the opportunity to notice the few resemblances between him and his mother. He has a softer expression compared to his mother who always has a sneer on her face all the time. I have not been seeing the king’s Aunt around even at the inner court meetings.
” Lord Talin” I muttered politely even though I wasn’t comfortable with the way he was staring at me. I wonder why he was here, maybe to apologize I guess.
” I came here to apologize for the way I behaved towards you the other day. I hope Your Majesty will forgive me” He said with an almost honest expression. I only gave him a nod before being helped into the carriage by Eria and Annalise. I didn’t know what else to say to him but I did not want to come off rude too.
” Have a nice day your majesty” Lord Talin waved at us with a smile.
” You too Lord Talin”

The tribesmen of the desert gathered in a large tent, they were armed to the teeth. They wore animal armor made from animal skins and some melted irons. Their skins were two shades darker than those of Nayak and Ruqgu people due to being exposed to the harsh desert sun. They have a bitter history with Nayak, for hundreds of years, Nayak defeated them in every war but refused to conquer them. They had been looking for a way to penetrate the Nayak army until they met the Nameless lady in black who gave them what she called the secret of the night.
The powerful magic allowed them to cause terror at Nayaki’s borders for a while. The magic allows them to put the Nayaki horses to sleep while attacking the soldiers with wild wolves at the same time. They plan to weaken the border army to create an opening for them to invade Nayak.
The men parted as the lady dressed in all-black attire announced her presence. The murmurs died down as she stopped directly in front of the tribe leader.
” Welcome daughter of Hwaja” The tribe leader greeted. That was the only thing they knew about her apart from the fact that was from Nayak. They don’t her name or who she is exactly but all she told them was that she is the daughter of Hwaja and she has been helping them plan their war against Nayak.
” It seems like you are not honoring the end of our deal anymore” Her cold voice stated as she fixed her gaze on the leader directly.
” What do you mean by that? We have attacking the borders for close to seven days now. Nayak soldiers are just not relenting for some reason” The leader replied, his hawk-like gaze not wavering under her scrutiny. He doesn’t like the fact that he doesn’t know her identity but she has been nothing but helpful towards their goal. He wants to be the first to wage a war against Nayak and win.
” Attacking them with what? Some fractions of your soldiers? You are to launch an attack that will lure the king out and lead the war by himself. Killing a few of his soldiers won’t do that” She Scoffed drawing a chair out, she sat down comfortably.
” Your magic may be strong but I can’t just lead my men to their slaughter. Making the king lead the war will lead to nothing but disaster. I have heard tales of how mighty your kings are and I don’t I’m ready to lead a war without strategy” The leader tightened his jaw after a deep breath.
” And when they tell you tales of how mighty Nayak Kings were, they failed to mention what their weaknesses are?” she chuckled playing the obsidian bracelet on her wrist.
” And what is their weakness?” The leader asked.
” The Queen is their only weakness. Kill the Queen and you will have the king on his knees but there is no way, you can harm the Queen while the King remains in the palace. His Oath is bound to protect her no matter what” She stopped playing with the bracelet and stood up, facing the leader once again.
“You need to declare war on Nayak right now, That way, the king will lead the war and his Queen will be left unprotected”
