Chapter 13 – Find My Daughter
.
Her eyes gave nothing as she heard his cold tone. She had just given birth to his son, he should at least show her his warm side. She had thought but his Aura told her she was wrong. Out of all his consorts, she prided herself as the most beautiful, she had a small round face, thinly carved eyebrows, a thin pointed nose, and a set of plum red lips that stood out against her milky White skin. She had fairly big breasts that she wasn’t ashamed of flaunting in her sleeveless blouses. Only the queen wears sleeved blouses but there wasn’t one yet and that led her to believe she had the right to wear one.
She was married into the royal harem at the age of sixteen six years ago, two years after the reign of King Treven as his first royal Consort but he paid her no attention and he hardly visited the harem, he was always busy with affairs of the state or slitting the throats of his enemies and paid no woman any attention. She was the daughter of a noble family in Nayak and had the reputation for being the most popular in the capital but this man doesn’t care about her. He took two more maidens three years after her and treated them the same. The king did not even start the search for his true queen until six years after his reign.
He granted her his favour during her third year in the palace and she bore him a princess. She thought he fancied her and was happy after he slept with her but he started gracing the rooms of the other consorts too indirectly telling her that she was nothing special.
Fearing her position would be threatened in the harem, she fed the two other consorts infertility pills so no one except her would bore him a child and maybe she would later bore him a son and become his true queen. She has people in the shadows waiting for any young lady who has any similar traits or characteristics to the true queen. The appearance of the true queen is her nightmare and she would do anything to prevent her from ever entering the palace and taking her rightful place beside the king.
Since there was no sign of the true queen for so many years she relented a little bit but her delusional habit was fueled with the thought of her being the true queen. She was the only consort who bore a child for the king, who could stop her from bearing a son. All the logic and every rule and tradition of Nayak, the principle of Goddess Natalí, and the Assignment of deity Nati flew out of her sense of reasoning without a word. And she started visiting monks, shamans, or any fertility doctor who could make sure she gave birth to a son.
She aborted two pregnancies behind closed doors when the shaman told her they were girls. She got frustrated and desperate as she continued feeding other consorts infertility pills without their knowledge. Her jealousy knew no bounds and quickly became the topic of gossip in the palace. She was the most powerful woman in the palace just after Princess Cixi, the king’s Aunt since there was no Queen yet.
This delusional attitude helped her with the thought that she could fool the whole king of Nayak with a fake prince since she couldn’t give birth to one. She had gotten pregnant with another female and she had servants prepare another woman who was going to give birth to a son so the babies would be exchanged but Meisi had given birth three days earlier than the woman so she had to wait for the birth of the male to announce to the king that she had given birth.
She heard he was back to the palace after a secret journey and she had dolled herself up in a Queen’s attire just to meet him and receive his praises She forgot that a woman who just had given birth could not have that much strength immediately. And now the anger burning in his Iris was something that she was not expecting to see at all.
” How dare you?” he repeated as he gestured at her to move closer. But she remained rooted to the spot, there was no way he could have an idea. She thought but instead, he stood up and took a step towards her like an animal seizing up his prey. She had become too entangled in her illusions that she forgot about his reputation as “King Treven the merciless”
” You must think everyone lacks one or two in the head like you?” He said as he moved closer. She swallowed as she took a step backward.
” My lord” She muttered but her voice only made his anger roll out more. He had to hold himself back from punching her in the face. He would never hit a woman but he hated liars more than anything in his life.
” Have you forgotten? That only true queens give birth to heirs?” He asked with a whisper that sent chills down her spine.
He knows.
” No but giving birth to your son might mean one thing” She replied with a confident tone but all her inside was mushed together in fear.
” That you are the true queen?” He laughed softly. She nodded.
“That is why you wore a sleeved blouse?” He shook his head as he chuckled softly at her shallow way of thinking. He had enough on his plate already than dealing with the senseless woman at the moment.
” You should be happy your majesty. The arrival of your heir is a joyous thing” She stated with a smile on her face but he has had enough of her foolishness. He turned away from her as he unsheathed a sword from the set that was hung beside his king-sized bed where no woman had ever lay before.
He placed the sword on her neck in a threatening pose and she knelt immediately with sobs escaping her mouth involuntarily.
” And what else? If you touch the door of the temple, the tears will stir awake?” He shouted not paying any attention to her fake tears.
“Please save me Your Majesty” She cried with a shaky voice.
” I will forgive you this time but any more of this. I won’t hesitate to decorate the ground with your head” He said putting the sword away and she sighed in relief. He was going to kill her. He brought the sword back and sliced the sleeves on her blouse watching them drop to the floor in satisfaction. She
” Thank you so much for your mercy Your Majesty,” she said as she stood up immediately and tried to run out of the room but he stopped her.
” Not so fast,” he said stopping her in her tracks.
” I give you just five hours to find my daughter or I will have your head displayed at the market square before sunset”
