Chapter 12 How Dare you
.
Why would Nati allow him to be poisoned when his Hornets could have stung the poisoner to death before they even came close to him? Was Nati revoking his protection on him? Because he couldn’t find a priestess for the temple of Natalí? Because he couldn’t find his true wife? If Nati wanted him to find the true queen, he could have led him right to where the person was instead of getting enraged over things he couldn’t control.

The ceramic teacup makes a loud noise as it lands on the tiled floor. The large magnificent bedroom became smaller as he struggled to breathe. His head pulses as he stares at the golden and coral decorations on the large door of his chamber. All of these and he still felt like the lowest animal on earth under Nati’s mercy.
Treven grunted angrily as he thought about everything. He had managed to survive Belladonna just like his great-great grandfather all thanks to the tear of Nati’s wife. That could only mean one thing, his true wife was very close to his grasp yet she managed to slip away from him. Who the hell is this woman? Where is she? Is she a spirit or a demon? And why the hell is she so hard to find?
All these went through his mind as the hornets in his inner chamber went crazy. As the last descendant of Niamh, he was blessed with Nati’s protection, The God of war had given them this when he still walked on the surface of Earth and his ancestor had become the first king of Nayak marrying a woman blessed by Nati’s wife also as the only true queen so it became a tradition since then or Nati would be enraged and severed his ties with the Niamhs.
Only the True Queen can bear a son for the royal family and it was only one son with the protection of Nati. Other women of the kings only gave birth to princesses, After the birth of the true heir, the queen would also birth princesses only so there was no opposition to the throne. The birth of another prince will mean the first prince is not strong enough to rule or one of them is a bastard. It has never happened before though but it can.
While Nati only blessed sons of Niamh, Natalí could be very fickle and bless anyone she deemed fit enough to continue the royal bloodline. Natalí acts like a mother-in-law concerned for the future of her son by finding him a good woman to marry. She has never chosen a bad queen for Nayak and she would not start now.
His head pounds as he runs his calloused fingers through the heavy dark locs on his head. His hand went through the smooth locs landing on his table with a bang. He has been a king for the past eight years right after his father’s illness and by the record, He was the only king who reigned for that long with a queen by his side.
He has women in his harem though but what is the use of all of them if none can birth him an heir and complete Nati’s assignment for him? He had searched all over Nayak and none could even wake the darkened tears at the temple.
One problem after the other, he thought. He had caught a whiff of someone planning a rebellion and then sneaked out of the palace the other night to meet the messenger in secret only to be poisoned just after meeting the dead body of the one he was looking for. Those idiots confirmed his thoughts, someone was indeed planning a rebellion hoping to end the reign of Niamh family on the throne.
But what he and those people did not expect was to come across his true queen at that moment. Was it a coincidence? Or just fate? Natalí could be tricky, it was the reason why she went around blessing random strangers as true queens. Even his mother was not from Nayak, she was from the first village after the boundary of Ruqgu. His father met her outside the northern gates and they had fallen in love at first sight. Such a sweet and easy love story but why was his own different? He groaned as suddenly rose from the soft cushion.
” Committing your face to my memory so I can remember the most petty human being I ever came across” The soft voice rang in his ears as the memory flashed through his eyes. That shrewd woman was invading his thoughts again. He hated the way she got his skin in no time. He was a man who grew up learning how to mask his emotions, if anyone had bumped into him in or outside the palace they would have been slain instantly or spared with few punishments depending on his mood.
But he was merciful enough to even threaten her but she flipped him off like he meant nothing. He liked it secretly, she was the first person who ever treated him so. Others will only cower in fear, maybe that is because she doesn’t know his identity.
“Awwwwn you look so cute right now” His ears got pink as he remembered how she called him cute. Cute? How could she call such a giant like him cute?
He suddenly banged his table in anger immediately he realized he was drifting away from his original thought. Like who and where his true queen was.
” It can’t be that woman right?” he breathed out as pondered on the distracting thought. He did wake up in her room the next day but he doubted if anything of such happened between them. She doesn’t look like someone who knows much about Nayak. She was covered right till her ankle so she must be from Ruqgu. His eyes looked lost though, like it has witnessed a lot of pain and sorrow but she was beautiful even though His Highness didn’t want to admit it.
The door to his chamber opened suddenly and his eunuch rushed in looking slightly annoyed even though he was trying to mask the expression from the king. The man was old enough to know the rules and traditions of the palace because he was an eunuch of the former king too and the man looked annoyed, then the king’s visitor was an annoying company.
” Your Majesty, Consort Meisi is demanding an audience.” The old man announced keeping his voice neutral. His eyes landed on the broken shards of teacup the king threw away earlier and he quickly signaled to the maid at the entrance to clean it up.
Treven sighed immediately the name left the man’s mouth. He doesn’t want to deal with yet another problem from his harem but he suddenly remembered something and a smile crept up on his face in a very scary manner. He remembered that he was informed immediately after he got back to the palace that one of his Consort had given birth to a son overnight.
” Send her in,” He said with a wave of his hands as he sat on the cushion again waiting for the brave or idiotic woman who dared tell him a dog is a monkey. What woman will give birth overnight and have the strength to run around the palace the next day? She was indeed pregnant for him but she had given birth since days ago secretly at the pavilion of women but refused to let the news leak. His Hornets had told him.
” Your majesty” Her soft voice announced to her before he could hear her footsteps. She was dressed in a light blue short-sleeved blouse and a big hoop skirt without a slit. The nerve of this woman! Did she dare to dress like a queen? She dared wear a sleeved blouse when she was just an ordinary woman in his harem?
” How dare you?”
