Serena watched as King Zed slowly lifted his hand to touch her. He placed his hand on her cheek and felt her world slowing down. Her heart also stopped moving, and she stopped hearing other sounds.
“You are more beautiful now,” King Zed groaned again. He couldn’t stop staring at her beautiful eyes.
Serena equally looked into his own greyish eyes; it was as if there was light in his eyes that was shinning. She wanted so much to touch him back but withheld herself. Instead, a smile spread across her face.
“It was all thanks to you, Your Highness. Suppose you hadn’t stepped up and took pity on your slave, then. I could still be ignorant till now. I wouldn’t know how beautiful I could be being strong, and I could still be so weak. It was all thanks to you, my Lord.” She bowed her head in appreciation.
King Zed slowly withdrew his hand from her cheek. He stepped back from her and went to sit at his desk there.
Serena’s head remained bowed.
“How was your stay there?” King Zed questioned.
“It was awesome, your Highness, but… I have a question. I don’t know if I should go on and ask.” Serena said.
“Ask.” King Zed ordered.
Serena lifted her eyes to stare at his.
“Why? Why did you do all these? No matter who I ask, they won’t tell me. I’m so so curious. Why did you take pity on your lowly slave?”
“Because you are not just any slave. When the time comes, you’ll understand. I need another thing from you,” King Zed answered and said.
“Anything, your Highness,” Serena said.
“I need you at my company, but first you have to study about everything that goes on there. Are you willing?” King Zed questioned.
“Your Highness, I’m more than willing to be at your service.” Serena quickly answered.
“Good. I heard your sister still works there. I want you to surpass her in everything, I still keep her there for a reason, and that reason is you.”
Serena quickly lifted her head in shock to stare at King Zed.
*So he knows about that bitch, Kate?* Her wolf, Aya said to her.
“I heard about all she did to you. Since you are going to be one of my persons, I need you to be on top. Can you do that?” King Zed questioned again.
“Yes. I can. I will put in my best to work for you, Your Highness. I will do anything you want me to do for you,” Serena quickly answered.
She wasn’t expecting what she heard at all. It was all too shocking for her.
“I’ve missed your coffee. Go make a cup for me.” King Zed said after some minutes.
Serena bowed again before walking out from his bed chambers.
She placed her hand on her now fast-beating chest.
What was that? She asked herself.
Did king Zed say those words to me? Did he stop my cheek a few minutes ago? Serena asked herself.
*Of course, girl. I suspect that king Zed likes you a lot. If he doesn’t like you, why will he be doing all these? He even wants you to take revenge on that bitch, Kate. He wants to make you his partner. He wants you to be the leader there, so you can rule over all those bitches that made us like this.* Aya replied.
*But it’s peculiar. How come he likes me? How come…?*
* He does, tho I don’t feel much connection with him, but I feel that he is unique to us. I feel that he is a big part of our life. I feel that he will come to own us someday.* Aya said to her.
*Can you try connecting to his wolf when I go back to his chambers?* Serena asked.
*He is not our destined mate. If he were, it’d be much more straightforward. I can only mind-link him, and that’s it.* Aya said.
Serena said.
*I don’t want him knowing. You can’t mind-link him. King Zed might find out. I have this weird feeling that his wolf is doing all these and not him. It can’t be King Zed. The King Zed I know is much colder than him, much scarier, and his mere gaze can kill from a mile.*
*Well, you’ll never know. I feel he is hiding his true intention. What j do t understand is why, if he is scared of voicing out his true purpose?*
*That’s funny, Aya. King Zed is never scared of anything.* Serena laughed.
*Well, you’ll never know, Serena. I’ll do everything I can to find out this real intention. The reason for all these.* Aya said in determination.
*I’m also inquisitive. I also want to know, so please be quick about it.* Serena supported her wolf.
She got into the castle’s kitchen and began brewing King Zed’s coffee as usual.
“I doubted that you were the Serena we all knew. After all those months away, I figured that you would change, but now that I see you making coffee, I’m convinced that you are the Serena we all knew,” Serena heard a voice say behind her.
She paused and turned to look at the owner of the voice.
“Lilian,” Serena called.
“Oh, you even know remember my name. I thought you might have forgotten all about us. I remember teaching you how to make the King’s favorite meal. The moment the King stopped us from making his meals, I suspected something was going to happen. I never knew you had the guts to seduce the King. You have been a bitch,” Lilian said maliciously.
“What do you want exactly?” Serena asked with an unreadable expression.
“What I want to tell you is that you made a huge mistake by seducing King Zed. You are only going to meet your doom at the end of the road,” Lilian said.
“Okay. Are you done talking then? If you are done, do excuse me. I have the King’s coffee to serve,” Serena finished up and walked past Lilian, brushing her shoulder in the process.
Lilian scoffed.
“What a bitch,” She cussed.
Serena scoffed but ignored her. She left forking Zed’s chambers.
She entered his chambers and served him the coffee she made.
King Zed lifted the coffee and placed it at the brim of his lips.
He inhaled the scent and brought the cup down.
“Do you want to know one of the main reasons why I made you my slave?” King Zed asked.
Again, his words shocked Serena. She couldn’t believe he was speaking freely with her.
“Yes, Your Highness,” Serena answered.
“It was because of the way you make coffee. You make it the way someone very close to me used to make it. Your coffee reminds me a lot about her. I don’t know how you learned how to brew great coffees like this, but I’m glad I got to taste coffees made by you.” King Zed revealed.
Serena’s mouth dropped open. She couldn’t believe her ears.
So he was saying that he made me his slave so I could continue making coffees for him?
“I could have just killed you off or gave you bigger punishment for what you did, but I couldn’t forget the taste of the coffee you made me. It made me want to keep you closer.” King Zed added.
He lifted the cup to the brim of his lips again and sipped from the cup.
“Tomorrow, you can go out with Adam to pick any car of your choice. Since you’ll be working for me at my company, you won’t want to come late. I am extremely particular when it comes to punctuality. So choose a car, learn how to drive it, and don’t ever be late.” King Zed said again.
Serena gasped.
“A car, your Highness?”
“Why? You don’t want one?” He questioned, staring up at her.
“No! Not that. I’m just shocked and also very grateful. Thank you, your Highness. Thank you,” Serena bowed in appreciation.
“You can go now. Go on and do what you originally wanted to do.” King waved for her to leave.
“I will. Thank you.” She said again before leaving his bed chambers.
She got outside his bed chambers and held onto the keys of the training room tightly.
Her heart couldn’t stop racing. She ran into the elevator that would take her down. Immediately the elevator closed, she screamed so loudly.
The happiness in her couldn’t be explained at all. She wanted so much to tell the world about how she feels but knew she couldn’t do that. She could only talk to her brother about it.
She walked out from the elevator with a straight face on, pretending she wasn’t the one who almost screamed down the elevator moments earlier.
She walked out of the castle and went straight to the large hall she was told about earlier.
She got to the hall and unlocked the door with the key with her.
The door gave way, and she entered. A colossal gasp escaped her mouth at the sight before her.

Beta Adam went back into King Zed’s chambers the moment Serena left.
“Your Highness, why didn’t you tell her? She must be dying of curiosity right now,” Beta Adam said.
“It’s better she doesn’t know yet. She won’t even believe it if I tell her the truth now,” King Zed replied.
“She won’t believe it? She is no longer the old Serena we knew. She is a changed Serena. She is smarter now. There is no way she would think it to be a lie,” Beta Adam stated.
“You know nothing about what goes on in her head, Adam. I don’t want her to develop any silly feelings for me because of the truth. She’ll know the truth after learning what she and her wolf are to me. It’s way better that way.” King Zed insisted.
“Okay. I understand. You don’t want her to fall in love with you because she feels grateful to you. You want her to love you because that is what is supposed to happen,” Beta Adam nodded in understanding.
“So, about her sister, you told me to investigate. I found out that Isaac, her brother, is seeing that lady. I don’t understand what Isaac is doing, but I’m sure Serena doesn’t know about it. I think the human lady doesn’t know Isaac and Serena’s relationship,” Beta Adam informed. “But my guts are telling me that whatever Isaac is doing with that lady is not good at all. I think he is also trying to avenge his sister. He is going to make that lady’s life a living hell,” Beta Adam said.
“Whatever happens, remember that that lady must continue working for me. Promote her twice before Serena finishes her training. Make her the manager if possible. I would love to watch Serena bring her down. I want to see how far she can go,” King Zed said.
“Perhaps… your Highness, do you also want to use Serena for something else?” Beta Adam asked curiously.
“No. I want to test her. She was too innocent and pure. I want to see what she is capable of right now. Will she be able to kill her enemies? Will she feel sorry for them? Can she be a great leader when I finally decide to bring her completely to my side? I want to see how she’ll turn out with this incident,” King Zed explained.
Beta Adam cleared his voice at that.
“Um… I think she can do that now. Are you perhaps referring to something else, your Highness? Are you still thinking about the man who killed your whole family members? Are you making her strong so she won’t…!!”
Beta Adam felt uncomfortable when King Zed didn’t react to his last question.
“I’ll… I’ll leave now.” Beta Adam bowed and immediately left the King’s chambers.
He could already feel the King’s anger rising.
