Robert’s POV
“Stop following me around, please.” I bark at Maxwell who won’t stop taking each step I take. “You are not eligible to be an Alpha of the pack. After all…”
“But, sir, at least, you should let me give it a shot.” He retorts, his voice breaking. “I’d know I didn’t win if I didn’t.”
“You know what, moon goddess has already announced it that Ben should be the Alpha of the Moon Struck pack. Okay?” I adjust my sitting position on the chair in my office. He followed me right into my office since we are now in school.
“Face your lectures. Face your exams, and not love life.” I tell him, and he sobs.
“I’m 19, sir.” He says.
“And what do you mean? I don’t understand?”
“I’m not a kid.” He says, and walks out on me. “I’ll do this by myself!”
“Try to do that, dickhead.” I yell at him. Why would he want to be a mate for Sophia? I don’t even like him, and that shows moon goddess doesn’t like him to be Sophia’s mate too.
ONE AND A HALF MONTH NOW
“Hello, Students. We are now done with the first part of lectures for all students except the terminal grade. Theirs is the last part.” I announce to them. “The Alpha of the Moonstruck pack has been announced by the moon goddess but he’s yet to find his mate.”
The students cheer.
“Both the Alpha of the SplitMoon pack, Jude, the Alpha of the Moon Struck pack, Ben…” I let the name ‘Ben’ slurry. “… are to find their mates before we come back here by April 1st.”
“You haven’t told us the winner yet.” A student protests.
“Yeah, it’s Ben!” I hail and they all cheer. “He’s the winner and now the Alpha of the pack of this school – moonstruck pack!
Half of the students are happy, half of the students are sad. Then just in, a lecturer wheels Rose inside my office, and he waves at me.
“I’ll be right there with you.” I gesticulate, and round up.
“Terminal grade students, you can now go into the school bus for your one – and – a – half month chilling.
They all rush inside the bus, and the school driver drives them out of the school compound.
“Hey, Sophia! You didn’t go with them?” I’m surprised to see Sophia moping around the school. “Come on, you’ll be bored. Stay with me.”
“Okay, sir. Just that I ain’t interested.” She says, and enters my office. She sits on her usual swivel chair, and buries her head in one of the books on my table. Seems she doesn’t see Rose on a wheel chair or she is deliberately ignoring her.
“Oh, Rose, how are you now?” I pet her cheeks, and she forces a smile.
“I’m good, I’m ok. You?” She replies.
“I’m good. But why are you on a wheelchair?” I ask.
“No, I’m not disabled. Just stressed, I didn’t want to shift, I only wanted to come here without cab as well. So, this served as a better option.”
“Oh, I see.” I exhale. “You didn’t see Sophia?”
She slightly hisses and rolls her eyes at both me and Sophia.
“And what if I have seen her? Do I have any value to her since she’s gonna get mated to some sort of big Alpha?” She snubs.
“Hey, Rose. Don’t start with this. I know your evil intention now. So, you have been a very bad motherfucker from the start.” Sophia faces back, and fights. “Idiot, you have been protective as though you are like my mother. That evil plan has been in your mind for a long time, Rose, that’s so wicked of you.”
Her voice starts to break so she keeps quiet.
“Rose, can I ask why that’s so?” I ask her, bemusedly.
“Robert, don’t question me. Sophia and her great Alpha mate must exit Berkerley because me and my great mate are now ruling this country. America in general. But they can still get the fuck out of California to settle somewhere around Illinois.”
“What are you talking about? We all know your mate.” I retort.
“Greg?” She scoffs.
“Greg has been rejected by me. I have never loved him. Someone is my mate, and I’m getting mated soon. So, don’t question me.”
“Remember, have no dealings with any clone for now so moon goddess won’t let you vanish away like your clone.” I instruct her, and Sophia nods.
“I and Ben are going to search for all our clones and kill them. Since we have the map with us, that should be easier.” I tell her. “Since you don’t have any clones now, you are free. Make sure you don’t have any dealings with any clone any longer.”
“Noted.” She says, and stands up from the wheelchair. “I’m going out to chill, will you chill with me, Rob?”
“No, I’m busy, sorry.” I apologize, and she storms out of the room.
“I smell rats, Robert. What mate was she talking about?” Sophia asks me.
“She can’t get mated to either Jude or Ben. It isn’t possible, so put your mind to rest. None of the two likes her at all.” I reply, and sit on my official seat.
“What if one gets mated to me, what about the other?” She asks again.
“I don’t know but just be calm, okay?” I tell her, and she nods. “Her last resort is Maxwell and he’s just a mere wolf.”
“What if he turns into a vampire?” She asks, questioningly.
“Does he have a pack?” I ask in return and she becomes silent.
“Thank you, Robert. I want to go to the library now to read a few texts, thanks so much for your time, dear sir!” She splutters, and storms out of my office.
SOPHIA’S POV
I quickly walk into the library and I shut the door behind me. I think someone is following me behind but I since I no longer hear the receding footsteps, I pick one of the books in the library and start to read. No other grade owns this library except ours. It’s free now, not a bit occupied, since 98% of us have gone for the reserve stuff.
I pick up one book titled “Hustle and Bustle of this fucking life.” This catches my attention but as soon as I finish reading this, I pick up a newspaper and flip the pages open. Wicked vampires, mum hid a secret from me, Rose has a very evil intention, who knows who Jude or Ben would turn out to be?
Maybe I should opt in for Maxwell since he’s just a mere wolf. There won’t be any problem. But, again, I won’t be a great Luna if I do that. Man, I’m confused!
With someone’s left leg, the door jerks open and Jude comes inside with fury. His fury disappears bit by bit as he approaches me.
“Where have you been? Why are you hiding here?” He asks me.
“I’m not hiding. Please, leave me alone.”
Before I can say another word, the newspaper fall on the ground and about to pick it up, Jude holds it hostage with his feet.
He cups my jaw, and stares wildly into my eyeballs.
“Don’t forget we are only here.” I mutter under my seized breath.
“I’ll get mated to you, whether you like it or not, through any means.” He says, and drops my jaw as he storms out of the library. I hiss and roll my eyes at him but he shuts the door with anger and get outta here.
May is approaching, I can hear Beau, my wolf, crying to be let out. I can’t also wait. My wolf would be activated the day I get marked. I think it’s also let for me to choose between Jude and Ben since Maxwell isn’t for me.
As I jerk the door open after returning the newspaper Jude bumps into me and doesn’t apologize. Instead, he barks at me and stops me in my tracks.
“I don’t want to see Ben walking with you any more.” He says. “I’ll kill him with my bare hands.”
I shudder at first but now, I shrug my shoulders. And I tell him, “After all, Maxwell is my mate. And my one and only love.” Expecting his reaction now.
“Sophia, come over here, won’t you wish us a safe journey as we go cancel our clones?” Robert calls me, and I see Ben going into his office. Obviously, Robert likes Ben more than he does Jude.
“You see, I’m gonna go wish them now. You had better follow them and cancel your mate so you won’t vanish away.” I bark at him but he stands still and stares at me. “Will you stop staring like a moron and track your clone down? That’s better than going around and instructing anyone.”
I walk out on him, and he doesn’t say anything. Soon, I get to Robert’s office and I see both Rob and Ben fully dressed.
“I wish you a safe journey.” I tell them, and they both smile. Ben hugs me tightly, and Jude approaches from the corridor.
Then, they all leave the school, to get their clones. May is knocking on my door, the cloud of complicated search for a mate is gradually clearing away.
