“Who… Who is it?” Rose stammers, and her eyes blink.
“I thought you said you saw Ben.” I retort in whispers, and she knocks hard on my forehead.
“Keep the fxxk quiet.” She whispers.
“Who is it, please?” She asks again, and we both stand up to check up on the person.
“No, you stay with this inanimate living object and i go check. Or do you want the reverse?” She requests.
“No, it’s okay by me.” I reply, and she moves on to the doorstep.
“Rose?” I call out once it remains an inch to get there.
“What is it?” She retorts, and her forehead furrows.
“I want the reverse.” I say, and leave the undead lying flatly on the ground while she quickly proceeds to glue it to the ground.
“Open the d*mn door!” A thick and hoarse voice shouts at the front doorstep. I shiver, and look at Rose. She shrugs her shoulders and smirks while I hesitantly turn the doorknob and the keys. At the first turn, Rose winks at me to try the second and fake some confidence even if fake, and I do. As I do, the door jerks open and falls flat on the ground. My eyes come in direct contact with Ben’s. Weirdly and unexpectedly, I begin to smile and desire a hug from him. I almost stretch out my arms for a hug but Rose jerks me out of my romantic attachment through yelling at me and hitting her fists on the ground.
“Ben?” I finally “shiver-talk.”
“Yes, it’s Ben.” He says, and hugs me affectionately as he shuts the door and It becomes totally locked again.
“It’s alright, Ben.” I tell him, as I try to free my chest and body from his. “Let’s just…” I don’t know what to say but he should leave me the fxxk alone.
“Ben?” Rose finally says after three minutes of hugging Ben tightly. I see her right behind me, signaling to me to get behind her. I do immediately Ben releases his grip on me.
“Why are you hiding behind her? Huh?” He remarks, and chuckles softly as he utterly sends a disdainful look at Rose.
“You.” He clips. “Why did you wink at her to exit her body from my cool chest?” He beats his chest.
“There’s nothing.” Rose smiles. “Absolutely nothing.”
“There’s something, ’cause if there’s nothing, you wouldn’t let my mate get away from me!” He furrows his forehead but it melts into a smile as he winks at me.
“Mate you say?” Rose scoffs. “Well, she’s got a mate.”
“I don’t fxxking care about that. This is my mate, and I’m here to take her to be with me and remain with me…” He coughs out his lungs. “… till she clocks eighteen!”
“You want to hold me captive?” I say and hide behind Rose the more. This is when I notice that the dead inanimate object is no longer there.
“Rose, what the fxxk.” I whisper into my eyes but she twitches ’em and they flap, carving into the shape that’d suit my whispers.
“What is it?” She mutters in return.
“Where is the undead?”
“Shut up.” She replies me but directs it to Ben so he won’t have a tip of what we are discussing.
“But Sophia and maybe you, what’s your name…” He points at us. “… you really need to pore over the vampire diaries you Dad handed over to you.” My head which was rested on the back of Rose’s neck frees itself and I raise my head.
“You said what?” I retort, and Rose scoffs.
“Your portable box is with me, dear.” He smirks at me, and gesticulates to me to come over to him.
“We were all drunk.” Rose sighs. “If not for the damn Robert! We were drunk, that was why you had the chance of doing that!” I run around the room, and try to open the door but it doesn’t. I cuss under my breath, and look back at them. Ben huruies his feet to meet me but Rose gets into his way.
“Don’t block me.” He says. “Are you her mate?”
“Yes, I am.” She replies. “If that’s what you wanna know.” Ben scoffs and cusses under his breath.
“Mate? Mate who got drunk and couldn’t protect her mate from being captured?” He smirks. “Mate who is split into two.”
“Mate who is…” He continues, and Rose cuts in.
“That’s enough, man.” She raises her hands at him.
“Then, leave me with my mate and go buckle down to YOUR FXXKING BUSINESS!” He yells at her, and flashes into his vampire but he immediately returns back to his human form.
“Ben, no issues about this.” She says, calmly. “We will talk, okay?”
“I hope so. And if we will, then that’s in my room. My apartment.” He scoffs.
“How safe is it?” I ask, standing still at the doorpost.
“Didn’t you enjoy the other time you came? I satisfied you to the core.” He asks me but tells Rose.
“What… What other time?” I stuttee, objecting his statement.
“Didn’t you…” Ben says and Rose cuts in.
“It’s enough. Let’s get going.” Rose says, and clutches me onto her by attaching my arms to hers. Ben proceeds to the door and as he tries to open it, I suddenly face Rose and ask, “what about the undead?”
“Shut the fxxk up. Is it your pet? It’s gone!” She barks at me.
“It’s been a while since you attended school maybe that’s why.” She adds.
“That’s curt.” I pout my lips in fury, and she nods her head to Ben and he opens the door with his hands. Bare hands. The door falls flatly on the ground.
“Can you see how powerful your mate is?” He praises himself and we both walk down the road.
“I’m your mate and not some fxxking mates who can’t even save you from a mere rogue.” He adds, and Rose sighs.
“I’ll give you whatever you want.” He adds again.
“Rose, where did the undead go to?” I whisper into her ears, and pinch her. She nudges me to be mute but Ben faces back at us immediately.
“If you want the undead, I’ll make it available for you.” He says, focusing on the way. “Afterall, I ordered it to buy me time till I get here.”
“I don’t want a lying mate.” I say.
“Never tell an Alpha that he lies.” Ben and Rose chorus and i sigh.
“Okay, sir then.” I submit and bow my head a bit.
“Why didn’t you shift? Why did you have to order an undead object to buy you time?? Locking the door wasn’t enough?” I bark at him and jerk my hands off of Rose. “Why didn’t you shift? The other day, when we were escaping from Rose, you refused to shift and nearly got me into trouble! The fxxk! What if it wasn’t Rose?”
“Calm down, Beau.” Rose says, and my fury melts immediately.
“What did you say?” I ask softly.
“Your wolf is forming. Don’t get angry or else you might halfshift. You’re almost near shifting age.” Ben says, lightly. I keep that at the back of my mind and keep ranting on.
“Is that the attributes of a good mate? Is that protection! Jude is better! Max is better!” I raise my voice, and Ben looks back at me. Rose nudges me with her left arm and her look reads, “you shouldn’t have mentioned the names.”
“Oh oh.” Ben says, and clears his throat.
“Before I speak out my mind, let me apologize for the other time. Sophia, I apologize.” He pouts his lips and I nod.
“You should not have…” Rose mutters and i cut in through my own mutters too.
“Why did you mention the name of my wolf too?”
“Let’s see who will get affected.” She finally whispers.
“Jude.” Ben says, and sighs.
He points to a far direction. “That’s my residence.”
“Okay?” I tell him. “Are you leaving us?”
“Nope. Why would I?” He forces a smile.
“Jude, you’re the one threatening me.” He whispers but I clearly hear him. Rose hears him clearly too.
“What did you want to say?” I ask him.
He sighs instead of speaking up and I tap him on his back.
“We will talk Sophia. Let’s get home.” He furrows his forehead, and now, I regret saying his name out though his insensitive past actions made me say it. What Rose said about who would get affected rip my heart in pieces, and I breathe out.
I smell trouble as we increase the pace of our footsteps, heading to Ben’s residence.
