“An escape route.” I wink at Greg who is gradually shifting into his wolf.
“Don’t make a wolf angry.” My mama does tell me. I think that’s the case now. But I won’t let this happen. Greg shouldn’t die like his Alpha did, and his senior Beta. Escape route is better than planned comeback.
“Jude, what do you want from me?” I ask him, buying Greg some time to think of a way out.
“Sorry, there’s no way out.” Jude replies. I shiver and stare at my chest. It’s actually where he’s staring at too with his cool green eyes. Oh, green? I hope this folk won’t shift here coz we couldn’t withstand it then, that was why we shifted silently and escaped.
“There’s surely a way out.” Greg’s lips translate into rough lengthy ones encamping a queer set of teeth and he replies. He’s a brown wolf. Oh pretty Wolf. Can he fight a Vampire? Our aim here is to save Sophia. That’s my especial aim.
“You dare bark at me?” Jude scowls and scoffs, grinning his teeth and moving with creepy but matching steps towards Greg. Greg on the other hand doesn’t give one damn shit, he throws his head backwards as he gives his twinnie the control. With a loud growl and snapping of bones coupled with popping out of veins, sprouting of hair on the body from one end to another till it fills the whole body, Greg stands on his feet; In an uneven position he stands. Jude rubs his chest with his right palm, and breathes out, bending his head and studying Greg.
“You dare attack me?” Jude scoffs. Greg looks back, and I screech, bowing my head till I hit it on the ground. Greg doesn’t reply, he stretches his short but thick hairy legs and his hairs turn kinky as he darts towards Jude. Without much Ado, Jude changes his physique. He doesn’t growl, his head decreases in size and horns shoot out at both ends, fangs stick out elongating randomly. I shiver and gulp down my saliva, hoping it would go well.
Jude forms a fist, and smirks. Even in his Vampire form. From his navel downwards till his big toe, he’s a human but upwards a vampire.
“So you can actually halfshift?” I murmur, glancing at him and leaning onto a tree. Not for support but due to fear and doubt of It going well or not. Well, maybe Its for Support though.
Jude smirks at me as his fangs roll out and hit his nostrils. With creepy barks at Greg, he smashes him on his skulls and Greg lands on the ground. Trying to slide behind him becomes the most difficult thing Greg can do. But I’m available, no? I try to halfshift but no. I’m only an hybrid. Or better put, even if I’m to half-shift, then it’s my wolf, Cate, that can only do that. My Vampire just can’t. I overheard that I was cut off from the pack’s mindlink I first was.
I squint my eyes and let my wolf take control instead. I shut it and Cate jogs in me. I inwardly frown at her for wasting my time. But now, I speak up.
“Will you come out already?” I bark at Cate. She doesn’t reply, she just exhibits happiness and jumps to and fro. My eyes wide open at once and I see Greg dumping punches with his fists on Jude. And as Jude tries to stand, he throttles his neck and block his nostrils.
“You baboon! I’ll deal the heal out of you!” He tries to scream, his words are unclear. It comes out as stifles since he can’t breathe well right now. My mate is fighting. He dared call my mate a baboon? God, I’m not giving it any damn hesitation again, Cate, unto thee I give control.
“Cate, unto thee I give control.” I murmur, my hands clasped and raised up to the moon.
“Cate, unto thee I give control.” I repeat, and try to open my eyes but I fight the temptation and only squint them.
“Cate?” My eyes are wide open right now. I see dark furs torn on the ground. My eyes dart to and fro this arena and I can’t find Greg nor can I find Jude.
“Oh, wolf Cate!” I yell with all the energy left in me. “Thrust out!”
“I can’t. Why would I?” Cate replies, but I grin my teeth. That wouldn’t help, I know but my teeth grin all by themselves.
“Please, I beg of you.” I scream, holding my head tight as Debe takes control.
“No, not you, Debe.” I say, flatly but she doesn’t respond. She thrusts out and legs start turning thin and thorny.
“No, not you, Debe!” I yell and two wolves land on the ground with a loud thud, swirling the dust around here and making me cough out my lungs.
“Will you stop all these?” I march towards them as I try to separate them. Today is good but I almost make it bad, why would I try to separate wolves. Today is bad but I make it good, why would I watch them fighting after they have already shifted to their human forms.
“Run away.” Greg pulls me down beside me, and sweat trickles down from his forehead and earlobe down to the cold soily thick floor. He whispers into my ears and the smell gets way stronger than it has ever been.
“I can’t.” I respond, blinking my eyes thoroughly, maybe trying to force back the tears threatening to roll down my cheek. Who would see his mate in this kind of situation, wounded on both sides and sweating profusely, and not sob? Then that’s a bad wolf.
“Go!” He pouts his lips. “Just go, you idiot.” He screams and Jude lifts up his head and smashes it on the ground again.
“Don’t do that again. Are you mad?” I slap him hard on his chin, and suddenly he becomes quiet. He touches his chin with his left palm and rub it continuously. He blinks his eyes multiple times and similarly, I also do.
I slapped a whole Alpha of the greatest pack?
His eyes glow into red and dark and smirks flash through his lips as he goes on his knees, his hands raised up onto the moon.
“Oh thou moon goddess, who is my mate?” He screams out loud so that anyone in the farthest village there in Africa will hear so clearly. My eyes bulge out as I see him breathing in and out as he nuzzles the air stuck around him.
“Let them both hear, please ma.” He says, flatly.
Moon goddess? Ma? Am I to laugh or hurry up and get outta here? Greg’s eyelids close, as he rolls his head and mutters what I can conveniently call trash.
“Wolf Wolf Wolf Immature.” A melodious voice says, and Jude opens his eyes. Now normal.
Then suddenly, two chained people come out of the bush, and two other Betas, rigid ones that’s my first comment, dump them beside Jude.
The first lifts up her head. I sniff the air but the smell is faint. The second lifts up her head but slowly.
Getting creepy.
Greg sits up. I sit up and gulp. My shoulders shudder ’cause the smell is strong without even sniffing the air yet.
She lifts her head up totally and immediately but creepingly.
It is Sophia. Jude smirks, and sends his arms on her shoulders. Protectively.
