As soon as the words left his mouth, the door opened in response.
Abbie appeared in the duo’s view.
Elena Bush immediately raised her guard and her face suddenly went cold, “Where’s the baby?”
“The baby has just fallen asleep, don’t be nervous, I won’t do anything to him.” Abbie looked at Elena Bush at this point and inexplicably began to feel weak.
“I want to see him.”
“Of course, it’s your baby, I can’t stop it, besides it was meant to be returned to you in the first place, I’ll just look after it.”
Logan Brown raised an eyebrow in surprise, “Babysitting?”
“Yeah.” Abbie just felt a pressure on the top of her head and her scalp tingled with it.
kirk Burne saw that the gesture was extraordinarily timely, “Abbie!”
Abbie immediately stood up respectfully, “Dad?”
“Get on your knees and reflect on what you’ve done wrong!”
kirk Burne barked coldly, not giving her the slightest bit of face, Abbie looked over in surprise but unintentionally met the wary eyes that simply would not allow refusal!
Abbie hesitated for a moment before shrugging her head and nodding, “Yes.”
Logan Brown watched what was unfolding in front of him, a dark glint flickering under his eyes as he didn’t move.
Elena Bush didn’t know what all the fuss was about and inexplicably tightened her grip on the man’s hand.
Logan Brown patted her palm and said softly, “Don’t be nervous, it’s just that you ran into Mr Burne teaching the kids.”
kirk Burne smiled sarcastically, “Yeah, Abbie the kid, never let me worry about him since he was a kid, you said he’s so old now and still has nothing to do and doesn’t know how to do anything, he relies on me to look after him ……”
“And what does Mister Burne mean?”
“Sir Brown, I know Abbie was reckless this time, but she was so nervous about Kent that she did these stupid things, and I just hope you can forgive her and that this can be made small.”
Trivialised?
Logan Brown’s eyes were full of sarcasm, he did know how to fight for his own interests.
It’s just that ……
Logan Brown didn’t seem to be looking for trouble with Abbie at this time, instead he looked around and his eyes fell on someone who looked like a butler, “Have the butler take my wife to see the baby first.”
“Yes, yes, yes, check on the baby first!”
kirk Burne instructed as if he were waking up from a dream.
Elena Bush was then about to pull Logan Brown up to follow her when the latter let go and smiled at her, “You go upstairs first, I happen to want to catch up with Mr Burne.”
As kirk Burne listened, his spirits lifted and his heart stuttered.
He and Logan Brown had never known each other before, so there was no catching up, and it was clear that he didn’t want Elena Bush to see him coming after them!
Elena Bush hesitated for a moment, but with the baby on her mind, she didn’t dare to hesitate and went upstairs with quick steps.
Inside, Harvey did seem to be asleep, but the housekeeper had only just pushed the door open when the little man’s body immediately bounced reflexively, his face all tense.
“Snap!”
The light in the room was switched on, only to see a small woman’s body follow in passing behind the butler.
The little one’s eyes, which had been full of caution a second before, instantly lit up, and a smile widened on her little face.
“Mummy!”
“Harvey?”
Elena Bush crossed to the housekeeper and before she could react, the little one’s body had lurched forward and crashed into her.
As always, the little one’s tiny arms and legs clung to hers so tightly that there was no escape.
“Mommy, why are you just now ……”
The little one lifted up even, his eyes tearing up.
Elena Bush just felt her heart follow that moment and instantly seize the pain to a piece.
“I’m sorry ……” she knelt down and hugged him tightly, “It’s Mommy’s fault, I shouldn’t have kept you waiting so long.”
“Did you have a good rest mummy?”
Harvey pushed her away, looking at the tiredness on her face and all his complaints disappeared, all that was left was his heart.
Elena Bush nodded repeatedly, “Yes.”
“Then ……” Harvey squirmed and turned his face away, not daring to look at her, “Since you’ve been so good, I won’t bother with you!”
Elena Bush’s eyes were tinged with a smile.
The little one pulled her to the bed and sat down. When she got up, Elena Bush realised that the housekeeper was no longer there and must have left, leaving some privacy for mother and son.
Elena Bush took Harvey and looked at him as if she wanted to strip him naked to see if he was hurt.
Harvey dodged and said, “Mummy, I’m really fine, don’t worry about me, besides that woman wouldn’t dare do anything to me.”
“Really?”
Elena Bush was half convinced, thinking of Abbie on the verge of a breakdown and not believing that she hadn’t done anything.
“Really!” The little one was afraid she wouldn’t believe her and continued to explain, “Because I’m so cute and nice, so they don’t do anything to me, and when I was hungry I took all the snacks Daddy had prepared for you in the car!”
If it was any other day, Elena Bush would have been angry with him for eating so much of what he shouldn’t have, but now it sounded as if Abbie was denying him food and that a child of his age could only eat snacks, and her heart ached.
The little one thought she was angry when she looked at him, so he didn’t dare make a fuss and kept his head down.
Elena Bush squeezed her hand before lifting it up and patting his back, “If you’re tired, take a rest and Mummy will take you home later, okay?”
“Mmmmmm!”
The little one was really tired, he had spent most of the day in the car, pretending to sleep or half-asleep, and it was well past his usual resting time, so he was too sleepy to open his eyes.
Lying in Elena Bush’s warm embrace, the little man felt as if he had found a home and slept soundly.
Elena Bush kissed him tenderly on the top of his head, saying sorry a thousand times in her heart.
He was so young and it had happened to him, I hope it won’t be a nightmare for him.
The little woman coaxed Harvey to sleep before coming downstairs, passing by the living room, only to see that the atmosphere was so stagnant that it was a little hard to stay grounded.
She took a deep breath, hugged the baby tightly and glanced at Kirk Burne and Abbie.
The latter both looked at her expectantly, with a slightly ingratiating look on their faces.
Elena Bush turned her face away and pretended not to see.
“I’ll take Harvey to the car first, you can come back out when you’re done with it.”
The man was in no hurry and responded softly, “Hmm.”
