Harvey scowled, then the next second grinned and flung himself into his arms to pamper him, “Daddy ……”
“Hmm?”
“Is mummy happy?”
The little man’s eyebrows were laced with laughter, as if he sensed Elena Bush’s delight too.
Logan Brown patted his little head, “Do you know who Mommy can’t let go of besides us?”
“Is it …… Uncle?”
“Hmm.”
Logan Brown nodded, his eyes softening a little as he looked at him, “Kent is the only one your mummy has left, and he’s the only brother your mummy has.”
“What about Grandpa?”
Harvey frowned a little uncomprehendingly, as if he felt a little confused about all of this.
The man stroked his little head for a moment before speaking slowly, “It’s best not to mention him in front of Kent.”
“Who? Grandpa?”
Harvey only felt more confused at that moment, his brow wiped with worry.
“Hmm.”
Logan Brown looked at him and lowered his voice a few more notches, “You’re too young to understand what goes on between adults, so just know not to bring it up.”
Harvey nodded with seeming understanding, “So, just like you and Grandpa?”
The man gave a sudden lurch.
Harvey had an innocent look on his face, “I’ve always thought something was wrong since forever, Daddy never liked Grandpa and never initiated contact with him, even the slightest bit of information I knew was told to me by Great-grandfather ……”
Logan Brown clenched his fists wordlessly, bruises appearing.
Harvey, however, took his hand and whispered, “Daddy, even though I really don’t know what happened, I think there must be a reason for that, and I want you to have a good think about how you should talk to Grandpa, if you can.”
“What do you know?”
“I don’t know.”
The little man shook his head.
Logan Brown didn’t believe him, and Harvey, unable to avoid the stern gaze, finally shrugged his head and whispered, “Actually …… I’ve heard Godparents and I talk about some of this earlier… …”
Logan Brown was dumbfounded.
He knew that Harvey had always been smart and rarely worried him.
But he had never imagined that he would have to worry about himself even when he was only a few years old.
“Daddy ……” Harvey’s hand tugging at him tightened again after him, “Did I say something wrong?”
“No.”
“Then why aren’t you happy?”
Harvey knew he shouldn’t have brought it up, but he couldn’t help but start to worry about he a little when he thought of Elena Bush having fulfilled her heart’s desire.
More importantly, he always felt that Logan Brown had something on his shoulders all the time, but he never said anything about it, and he thought that if this continued, it might actually weigh him down one day ……
He was afraid and did not want to wait until that day came.
Logan Brown suddenly fell silent and did not answer.
Harvey remained looking at him for a long time, not looking away.
It was only when the voices of Elena Bush and Kent came out of the kitchen that they both snapped back to attention.
Logan Brown immediately withdrew all emotion from his face and said softly, “This is an adult matter, children should be thinking about what children should be thinking about, go and play with your uncle and get the dishes ready for dinner.”
“Daddy! You’re running away from things!”
Harvey was pushed aside but didn’t move, instead he looked at him with a crossed arms and an angry look.
Logan Brown laughed, “You’re just a kid, what do you understand?”
“I ……”
Harvey saw that he was being underestimated and couldn’t help but get irritated with his anger.
“Daddy, I’m not a child ……”
Harvey’s words were barely out of his mouth when Elena Bush noticed the commotion and cast her eyes over in confusion, “What’s wrong? Are you two father and son having another tantrum?”
With that, she came out of the kitchen to check on the two of them.
Seeing this Harvey immediately ran to her smiling and shaking his head, but poorly said, “Mummy, don’t misunderstand me, daddy and I are getting along just fine!”
“Really?”
Elena Bush looked sceptical, feeling that it wasn’t as simple as he said.
Harvey, however, immediately yelled, “It’s true, it’s true, ask Daddy if you don’t believe me!”
The little one whispered in Elena Bush’s ear, “Mummy you misunderstood me, you have to apologise!”
Harvey spoke furtively, occasionally watching the movement outside the kitchen, as if he was on guard for something.
Elena Bush wrinkled her nose, but thinking of being a good role model in front of the children she said, “Okay, so how do you want me to apologise to you?”
“Mummy, if you kiss me secretly, I’ll forgive you when I’m happy!”
At that, Elena Bush realised that the little one was so nervous, so she was afraid that Logan Brown would catch her again.
Kent and Blanche, who were listening to the little one’s words, could not help but notice the corners of their lips curving up in a nice curve.
They looked at each other and smiled, Kent smiling brightly, “Blanche, do you think that if we have children in the future, they will be as smart as Harvey?”
“Who knows.” Blanche arched her eyes and then gave him a disgusted glance, “But you’re so stupid, I’m afraid the baby will follow you.”
Kent’s mouth twitched as he met his beloved’s gaze, then the next second he gave in and said, “Actually, I’d like the baby to follow you, good looking, smart and more importantly, able to fight!”
“……”
Blanche stopped washing the dishes, “Is that a compliment or a put-down.”
“Of course I’m complimenting you!”
Kent immediately took a stand, with an air of truthfulness.
Blanche curled her eyes and smiled, not really getting angry when she looked at him.
Elena Bush had already given the little man a quick peck on the cheek before patting him on the side and saying, “Come on, go wash your hands with Daddy, we’ve got to eat!”
Harvey was about to leave, but before he could run out he hurried back in, “But daddy said I should help with the dishes ……”
Elena Bush laughed at the little one’s serious look, “Ouch, what can you do, I’ll do it, you go get daddy.”
“……”
Harvey’s little face puffed up into a bun as he was underestimated one after another.
Kent came out with the food and saw the sulking little man, so he put the food away and took him into his arms, patting him on the head, “What, are you mad at someone again?”
Harvey looked up, “Uncle, is there a lot of things that children can’t do?”
He found it seemed that because he was still young, there were many things that he could not know, and even if he did, it would be a deeper meaning that he was still too young to understand the reason for it.
