Chapter 60

Cindy’s POV
“Aunt Lorena is with Alder; he wanted to know more about my mother’s family,” I told Mia and Sheena.
“Why don’t you go there as well and know them too?” Mia asked, concerned. I know that she was hesitant to ask that, but because she’s always curious about everything, she could never stop herself from doing so.
“She knew a lot about my mom’s family but not exactly about my mother,” I answered, which made the two of them look at me intently. They couldn’t understand why. “Dad and Mom were both secretive. As much as possible, they wanted their lives to be a secret from everyone. Even to me. But Dad told me what I should expect from my mother, and, according to him, she loves me and him more than anything in this world.” I added.
“So, your dad believes that your mother had a reason for leaving you?” Sheena asked, and I nodded.
“He didn’t marry another woman so he could give you a mother figure. Is that also the reason why he did that?” Mia asked,
“As far as I know, yes. I remember him telling me not to get mad at her before he died. He wanted to make sure that I was going to accept her just in case she came back to me.”
“Why not tell that to your aunt?” It was Mia.
“Because I doubt that she would believe me. You head here; our family made a promise to protect and be a help to the royals and the palace. She will not accept what Dad has told me.”
“But you are her niece,” Sheena said,
“Exactly the reason why she’s more cautious. For now, she will only believe what our family makes her believe. Although I believed her when she told me that mom’s family would come back to get even or for revenge or for whatever, I believe that my mother will have nothing to do with that as well.”
“You have to talk to the king then. He has to know what you know so he can make a better judgment. So he will be able to think equally when it comes to your mother.”
“I know that Mia, but for now, I will let him talk to Aunt Lorena before I tell him everything and then talk to my aunt together. Depending on what he thinks about what I will tell him,” I replied.
“So your family has this mind-reading or mind-manipulation power, but is it considered black magic?” Sheena asked, “You could have had that power as well. And because you are a good witch, I think you will be able to use that power for good reasons,” she added.
“I wish I had that power too,” I replied, and their foreheads creased. “Remember, I am in Clover’s body. Me, being a witch, was buried six feet under when Lin and Mike killed me.” I added.
“You’re really complicated. Just how are we supposed to know whether you can have that power or not?” Sheena asked again.
“Then we will have to need her aunt. I’m sure she knew what to do.” Mia said.
“But I have to tell you that when Lica provoked me, my witch aura leaked. That’s why Alder sent you away. So I won’t be able to hurt anyone if something happens.”
“I’m really sorry about that. Alpha Remos was furious when he found out about it. You know how our pack was established, and as much as possible, we didn’t want to be known for being a rogue-minded pack,” she said.
“I’m sure that Remos knows what to do. I feel sorry for your parents, though.” I replied,
“Thank you for your understanding, Your Highness.”
“Stop that; it’s just us.” I replied, “We have to be one with our goal and cause. Right now, we need to find out who was behind the kidnappings of the omegas of every pack.”
“Charles said that they were working on that. They have some clues, but nothing is certain yet.” Mia said,
“I know that; that’s why Alder was troubled. He wanted to know who really was behind those kidnappings, and I don’t know if my family is somehow related to them.”
‘My love, please come to my office with Mia and Sheena.’ Aldermind linked me.
‘OK, we’ll be there.’ I replied, looked at the girls, and said, “Let’s go to the king’s office. He wanted us to be there.” Then we got up and went down to the first floor, where his office was. He was sitting on his office chair, and he motioned for me to sit beside him when we got in. Lance and Charles were there, and so was my aunt.
“I asked you to be here because I wanted to discuss what Lorena had told me. It is important for me to hear your thoughts about this since we are all responsible for everyone’s well-being.” He said, And we are all ears. “First, it is about the kidnapping incident. It came to her knowledge that a Lycan was behind this. Although we already had an idea about this, we still didn’t pay much attention because we all believe that we are here to protect the werewolf and not the other way around.”
“How did you find out about this?” Charles asked,
“I already told you that I had to make sure that my niece was safe. Thinking it was her mother’s family, I had to look into it real quick.” Aunt Lorena answered. “And I know some people too, you know,” she added.
“Anyway, Lorena is certain that the kidnappings were because of the Lycans because someone she knew managed to escape from them,” Alder said, so I looked at my aunt.
“She’s a human, though. She was kidnapped to be sold as a sex slave to wealthy businesspeople. And mind you, they were humans. While she was captured, she managed to talk to one of the omegas and found out that they were sold to either rogue or human business people, as well, who knew about our species.” Aunt Lorena said she was shocked to know that something like that was happening.
“I myself couldn’t believe it. That’s why I asked all of you to hear it yourself. I don’t know why something as big as this was not reported to us until it was already like that,” Alder said before he sighed heavily.
“Maybe because it was a Lycan who was behind this. Whoever he was, he tried to prevent us from knowing everything. And for a Lycan to know something like this in the palace, he must be someone who has access to our security or data system.” Lance said, and I agree with him. This must be an inside job, as the business people said.
“Then what are we supposed to do?” Sheena asked,
“We must find that Lycan or those Lycans. We don’t know how many there are. But one thing is for sure: I wanted them dead. I don’t need a traitor in the palace or in our kingdom,” Alder answered.
“Since we all thought that he or she must be someone who knew about our data and had access to every report that came to us, we would start with that.” I said, “And I have someone who will help us when it comes to technology.” I added. I knew that they knew who I was talking about. “And I am going to ask him to come here as soon as possible.”
“That will be good,” Alder replied, smiling. “Our next agenda is about the threat in my life. I didn’t want you to think about or worry about it. Not because I don’t care about my life, but because we won’t be able to do anything if we worry clearly about me. We have a lot to do, and it will only constrict us, so let’s deal with everything accordingly. One at a time. However, it would be better if we were able to find them at once,” my mate added.
Knowing that something or someone is threatening our lives makes us feel uncomfortable or scared. But Alder is very calm as if it were only a simple occurrence for him. I am so worried. Thinking that I might lose him made me feel so scared. I guess it shows how much I love him now, and he needs me more than ever. This may also be the time that we need to complete our bond. It may be a little later, but I think this is the perfect time. We love and trust each other not because of the bond alone but because that is how we feel towards each other.
With this in mind, I decided to mark him. I looked at him again and found him looking at me with a creased forehead. He may be thinking that I am thinking too much, and I know that he didn’t want that. I guess I will just have to surprise him later.
