Alder’s POV
“You’re queen has spoken. For the details of the training, my beta will be discussing them with you, and I hope that we all come to an agreement.” I told them, and I let Lance do all the talking. We talked about it already, and we all shared our input. The entire kingdom will benefit from it. That’s why I was putting all our efforts into them. The safety of each and every pack is at stake.
“Are there any more questions?” Lance asked after her long explanation. I held Clover’s hand the whole time and was glad she didn’t refuse. She was all ears with everything that my beta was saying.
“Your Highness, is it alright to conduct a tournament in our pack, and the top five will be the ones who will be sent here to the palace for training?” The female alpha from the Meadow Pack asked.
“I let your pack decide about the selection. But I want everything to be done fairly. With or without a wolf, you have to let them do the training. As long as they earned it, male or female, young or old.” I replied, and I guess they understood what I was saying.
“It is going to be one hell of a training routine, so make sure that your candidate is prepared for everything. They will be welcome here as trainees and nothing more. Make sure that they don’t get the wrong idea and act high and mighty. Remember, they need to train other pack members once they return to their respective packs,” Charles added, and everyone nodded. I think they understand what we mean and appreciate our effort to help them strengthen their pack and members.
“I hope we are done discussing the training,” Clover said afterward. “I want to suggest to all of you to make an alliance with your neighboring packs. Since a series of kidnappings has happened, having each other’s backs is the best way to fight those threatening our peace.” She added. The alpha, along with their betas, were nodding their heads.
Charles and Lance looked at me, but I shrugged my shoulders because I had no idea about what she was talking about right now. But I must admit that she has a point. “Having alliances will help us buy some time while help is coming. It’s like an omega buying some time for her rescue to arrive.” She added. I like her idea. We can’t be where we are needed instantly. But if they were allied to their neighboring packs, someone would be at their aid before we arrived.
“That seems good, Your Highness.” Alpha Jessie agreed, “We have a neighboring pack that was affected by the kidnapping as well, and I was worried that they would end up attacking our pack,” she added.
“Seems to me that the new alpha was scared.” Alpha Neil of the Blue Moon Pack said. I don’t know if he was mocking Jessie, but with the kind of look that Clover was giving him, I don’t think he would get away with it.
“It seems to me that you are confident with your pack and don’t need any help,” Clover said,
“It’s nothing like that, Your Highness,” he replied with his head down.
“I hate overconfidence,” my mate said, looking at everyone. “This is for everyone to know, so listen. Overconfidence can kill you. No matter what, never look down on or underestimate your enemies or allies. That will give you false judgments and decisions. You won’t be able to assess them properly because you are way too ahead of yourself thinking how high and mighty you are.” she added.
“I’m sorry, Your Highness.” Alpha Neil replied respectfully.
“OK, let’s continue talking about the alliance,” I said, and they all shut up, looking forward to hearing more.
“The Raven Claw has a new Alpha, and I’m pretty sure that whoever they are who was behind the kidnappings will surely try and attempt to visit the pack.” I said, looking at Jessie. “But I believe that with the warriors in your pack and the help of former Alpha John, everything will be OK.” I added.
“Yes, Your Highness.” She replied, and I saw Clover smile at her.
“I am going to give you time to talk about the alliance and form it here before you leave the palace. Those who didn’t manage to attend will be given a notice about what we have discussed, and if they want to join, let them, provided that they are willing to abide by the rules and regulations of the alliance.
“Yes, Your Highness,” they replied in unison. We discussed some trivial things afterward and left them to start talking about their alliance. Lance stood to be a mediator just in case a misunderstanding arose.
After five more days, all the alphas started to go back to their own packs. They had been out for so long that even I got worried. However, none of the packs called any of them to inform them about something terrible. Still, I couldn’t help but worry. I guess it was natural for me since I acted as their father. I guess being king is like that.
Ever since Alpha Rio’s daughter has talked ill of Clover, she has attended the meeting with me. She must have thought that she needed to be there so nobody would ever get a chance to talk about anything behind her back. Goddess, I love it when we are together.
The council, especially Joshua, has stopped talking nonsense about her, too, and, for me, that’s a good sign. They started to accept the fact that she was indeed my mate and saw how serious she was during the meeting when they happened to attend it, too.
All of Clover’s topics were very crucial to every pack. All were for the betterment of every pack and for strengthening the bond of every mate. I think she didn’t want anyone to suffer the rejection that the real Clover experienced, so she made sure to remind everyone about that.
Because of that, I learned that she does have a plan to mark me. Just not now, and as I always say, I am ready and willing to wait for her. I already imagine how sweet it will be when the time comes, thinking I didn’t force her to do that, and she was willing to do so.
Clover was with Mia while Lance and Charles were on the training ground with our warriors. In two weeks’ time, wolves will be joining them, and I didn’t want any of them to be overbearing in front of them.
We have to remind them that the wolves need us and training with them will be a great help they could offer to them.
“Did you understand?” Lance asked after his explanation. “Remember, if any of you are found hurting, mocking, or shaming any of the wolves, you will have to face the council for trial.” He added.
“Yes, beta!!!” They all answered. I believe in my warriors. From my father down to me, we instilled in their minds that we are the protectors of wolves. The moon goddess creates us so we can help them and the other species live in peace. I just hope that nothing is going to happen when the training starts.
