“Okay, you say, what else can I do?”
“This ……”
Jeff was suddenly silent, he couldn’t answer and didn’t know what to do.
Logan Brown hooked his lips, “You don’t know what to do either, so putting my life on the line is the best way to go!”
Jeff didn’t answer again, just looked down at the baby in his arms.
Outside the door, a doorbell came, breaking the deadlock between the two men straight away.
Jeff also got up immediately as if he had found a chance to escape, “I’ll get it.”
“Hmm.”
The man nodded, his eyes deep.

Jeff swore he regretted the moment he pulled the door open, wishing he could close it immediately, and before he could do so Edward Ford reached out as if sensing his mood and pressed his hand against the door frame, “I want to see Logan Brown.”
Jeff gritted his teeth and stepped halfway out of the way, “Please.”
“Thanks.” Edward Ford smiled slightly and stepped inside with a big flourish.
Logan Brown on the sofa had obviously heard the movement and raised his head, and the two men looked at each other, before Logan Brown finally said coldly, “What are you doing here?”
“Whatever you have in mind, that’s what I’m going to do.”
“Do you think I would trust you?”
The words that came out of the man’s thin lips without a trace of warmth returned the words he had questioned him about yesterday.
Yes, Edward Ford didn’t believe him, but he didn’t believe …… him either.
Edward Ford glared at him fiercely and squeezed the edge of the sofa, “And what exactly do you want to do about it?”
“I will have my own way, it’s not your turn to get involved.”
“Elena is my daughter, how can I possibly agree to that if you tell me to leave it alone!” Edward Ford wouldn’t give an inch, “Logan Brown, I’m being nice to you now, but if you don’t, I’m not going to show you any mercy!”
“Is that so?” Logan Brown raised an eyebrow, “I’d like to see Mr Ford be unforgiving.”
The baby in his arms seemed startled, his tiny face scrunched up into a frown, looking as if he was about to cry out.
Logan Brown immediately looked down, his face, which had been cold and frosty, instantly cracking to reveal a softer look.
Edward Ford was dumbfounded by the sudden change of heart, and only as an afterthought did he realise what was happening, he shouted, “You have the baby!
“Mr Ford, that seems to be a joke, I am the father of the child, should he be with you instead of me?” Logan Brown arched his eyes and said with a harmless look on his face.
Edward Ford almost gritted his silver teeth, “Then you’re not afraid I’ll deal with KL!?”
“If so go ahead!” Logan Brown’s face was cold, “I’ve never been afraid of anyone, and you think that’s enough of a threat for me?”
Just because he’d held back until now because he wouldn’t let him hurt Elena Bush and the baby didn’t mean he was weak, he was cowardly!
“You ……”
Edward Ford’s eyes glared at him as if he wanted to eat him alive with rage!
Logan Brown’s body leaned back slightly, his hands gently patting the child’s back and coaxing, ignoring him outright.
Edward Ford couldn’t help but get angry again, “Logan Brown, now that Elena is dead or alive and you’re sitting here doing nothing about it, not even when I’m sincerely trying to work with you, do you really care about her!”
“When is it your turn to speculate on my concern?” Logan Brown looked over at him, his tone rather unpleasant.
What had he done to him last night when he had shouted the same thing about getting him to find out about Jacqueline as soon as possible?
The irritation rising from the bottom of his eyes was clear to Edward Ford and made his bottom suddenly weaken.
He squeezed his palms and lowered his stance, “I know, I was wrong earlier, but I didn’t know who else to go to besides you!”
Jacqueline was clearly after Elena Bush and had planned this, so if she was going to do anything she would contact him, because he was the only one Elena had in mind, and he was the only one who could make her move!
Logan Brown pursed his lips and looked at him without saying a word, his grip on the child tightening silently.
“How do you expect me to believe you?”
“By the fact that I am her real father, that we are linked by blood!” Edward Ford said, word for word, his tone choking up slightly at the end, “Logan Brown, consider me begging you, I don’t have Joanna Lake anymore, I don’t want to lose Elena too …… ”
“Logan Brown!” cried Jeff, seeing the other man look over at the sight machine and shake his head imperceptibly.
The man dropped his eyes, and when he raised them again, his mind was already made up.
“I promise you.”
Jeff was taken aback, “What!?”
Edward Ford responded gleefully, “Really!?”
“Logan Brown!” said Jeff incredulously, taking a few steps forward, “Do you know what you are doing, you know what Edward Ford did to Elena Bush, he even came close to killing your son, if he does stay , what about the child?”
Or maybe …… he’ll still be a part of it!
More importantly, he was going to Jacqueline’s appointment tonight, and without him there was no real guarantee of what Edward Ford would actually do.
“Nothing.” Logan Brown gave Edward Ford a nonchalant sweep, “At least, for Elena’s sake, he won’t do anything.”
“Are you that sure?”
“Positive!”
The man’s words were loud and clear, and there was no room for half-hearted questioning.
As much as he didn’t like Edward Ford, he had to admit that Elena had a place in his heart like no one else, and no matter what happened, even if the sky was falling, he would at least keep Elena safe.
Jeff looked at Logan Brown and then at Edward Ford for a moment, and then just shrugged it off and said, “Fine, I’ll trust you for once!”
He then gave Edward Ford a semi-threatening glare and said, “Edward Ford, I’m warning you, if you do anything wrong ……”
“No need to warn me, I know exactly what to do.” Edward Ford cut him off without a second thought.
Jeff moved his mouth as Logan Brown got up and handed the boy over to him lowering his voice, “It’s too much of a mess in here after all, if you can coax him you can just take him back to H City with Uncle Roger and send him to Mia, she has the experience and knows how to take care of a child.”
And in H City he could keep the child safe.
“What about you?”
“I’m staying here with Zach Stone for now, don’t worry, I’ll go back as soon as I get Elena back.”
The man patted him on the shoulder and Jeff just felt the weight of the sky pressing down on him, making him almost breathless.
Logan Brown, however, said with a smile, “Well, there’s no need to say anything else, you go ahead and find Uncle Roger.”
There was a moment of hesitation in Jeff’s mind, but in the end he nodded firmly and said, “I understand.”
