Edward Ford was stunned and glanced at Roger Scott, only to see the other man say gently to Elena Bush, “We’re not arguing, we’re just talking a little louder.”
“Dad ……”
Roger Scott looked over, “What’s wrong?”
Edward Ford jumped up excitedly and immediately responded, “In!”
“……”
In the air, the awkwardness gradually spread, Edward Ford’s face was even harder to see, and where Elena Bush couldn’t see it she gave him an even harder glare.
Roger Scott hooked up a smile as if he had won, and walked slowly over to the bed, “What’s wrong? Is something wrong?”
“No.” Elena Bush guffawed, “Just a little tired and wanted you to take the baby back to the nursery to rest.”
She was always uncontrollably scared where Edward Ford was concerned, afraid that he would hurt the baby.
Roger Scott nodded and took the baby in her arms, “Good, then you can rest and rest and I’ll instruct the nurse to remember to feed the baby .”
“Thanks.”
“Silly child, what are we saying thank you for, father and daughter?” Roger Scott blurted out.
Edward Ford, on the other hand, was deeply irritated by what he heard, and his hands, hanging at his sides, were silently squeezed into fists.
He had fantasised countless times about the day when Elena Bush would be able to call him Daddy with impunity and accept his presence, but now it was all so ridiculous! An inexplicable sense of frustration washed over him, leaving him at a loss as to what he should do.
Seeing that Roger Scott was about to take the child, he rushed up and grabbed it violently.
“Edward Ford!” exclaimed Elena Bush, subconsciously about to jump off the bed.
“Don’t be afraid.” Edward Ford’s grip on the baby was gentle and there was no grimace on his face, even a touch of softness, “I just want to see the baby.”
Elena Bush tensed up at once, her head unable to think at all.
“Edward Ford, calm down, will you give me back the baby?”
Edward Ford soothed her, “Elena, don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt him ……”
“No, don’t ……”
Elena Bush shook her head, almost crying, as if her life was in his hands.
Edward Ford did not hear him, his eyes fell on the child in his arms, and even though the child was very young, he could clearly tell who he looked like ……
“Edward Ford!” said Roger Scott, who was also in a hurry and took two steps forward to try to snatch the child back.
Edward Ford dodged easily and looked up at the two men in front of him, then laughed bitterly, “What, did you think I would hurt a child?”
Elena Bush didn’t answer, but she couldn’t deny that her heart did think so ……
Edward Ford looked at her silent look and the bitterness on his face deepened a few notches, “Elena, in your mind, am I that bad?”
Why did she always have to put up her guard against him, why did she always have to shut him out?
It was clear that he was the closest relative to her, the only relative. And yet she treated him like a beast, never wanting to be near him.
His incessant questions almost frightened Elena Bush, and she tried desperately to suppress her unease, “Edward Ford, we can talk about this slowly, but can you give me back my baby?”
“Give it back?”
Edward Ford chuckled, “What are you talking about silly, I’m the baby’s grandfather too, it’s just see see, what’s there to be afraid of?”
Elena Bush clenched her teeth, hatred almost bursting out of those eyes!
Roger Scott watched as he took a moment to look away and once again stepped forward to take the child back into his arms, patting him on the back with one hand, silently soothing him.
The child was still a child, sleeping soundly after all the crying and fussing, unaware of what was going on outside.
Roger Scott saw that he was all right, and then he turned his head and gave him a stern look, “Edward Ford, what are you trying to do?
“Why don’t you guys believe me! I just wanted to see the baby ……”
He said, his innocent eyes fell on Elena Bush, full of sincerity, “Elena, I really don’t want to do anything, if I can, I can also raise this child for the rest of my life, I’ll give him everything I have, okay?”
Elena Bush did not believe for a moment that such a good thing could happen in this world, and what she could not believe more was that the person who said this was Edward Ford!
Seeing her disbelief, Edward Ford half bent down in front of her bed and said seriously and solemnly, “Elena, what I said is true, I swear to you that I will never hurt you or the child again, and I will name the child after you and me …… ”
“Heh!”
Elena Bush couldn’t help but snort out a laugh, her eyes clear, “Sure enough, I never knew that you wouldn’t be so nice ……”
Was his intention nothing more than to use the baby to tie her down and make her stay?
And, most importantly, he clearly wanted the child to stay with him forever as a bargaining chip, so that the child could have everything he had, but also become his puppet!
How could she agree to such a thing?
At that thought, she looked down at the hands that were holding her, and the next moment, without hesitation, she pushed them away and turned to Roger Scott, “Dad, please send the baby back.”
“Hmm.” Roger Scott nodded and, fearing that Edward Ford might do something, walked out quickly.
At this point Edward Ford was undoubtedly humble, undoubtedly weak.
But Elena Bush could not let her guard down, let alone persuade herself to let go of her guard against him.
Edward Ford looks at Elena Bush’s hateful eyes and clutches his head in uncontrollable pain ……
“Elena, why do you have to be so desperate?” He growled low, as helpless as if he had been pushed to the edge of a cliff.
Elena Bush had a flash of weakness that quickly collected itself and shook her head at him with a cold face, “I’m not the one who is desperate, you’re the one who has driven me into this step by step!”
She originally had a very good future, a very good life, a very good family, but everything was ruined because of him ……
She had to bring all her weapons to bear against him, it was the only way she could protect herself!
