Elijah raised his gaze.
He slowly closed the magazine and said, “It’s getting late, let’s go to sleep.”
With that, he headed towards the kitchen.
Freya was arranging plates in the cabinet.
Elijah asked, “Are you almost done?”
“Just finished,” she replied.
She finished stacking the plates, closed the cabinet door, stretched with a yawn, feeling aches in her waist.
Elijah walked up behind her, “You’ve worked hard.”
He reached out and placed his hand on her waist, “Let me massage it for you.”
Freya giggled, pushing him away, “Go away, no need.”
“Where are you going?” Elijah asked.
Feeling exhausted, Freya didn’t feel like playing along today, “I’m so tired.”
“Let’s go upstairs and sleep.”
Elijah kissed her on the mouth, “I can see you’re looking pale.”
Freya’s heart skipped a beat.
She pretended to be calm and rubbed her face, “Really?”
“Yes,” Elijah nodded.
She forced a smile, “Maybe I’ve just been a bit tired lately.”
Pushing Elijah away, she said, “Hurry up and go.”
“Sister-in-law.”
Sacha hadn’t gone to her room yet.
Thinking she didn’t know which room to sleep in, Freya said, “The one on the right.”
“I know, why aren’t you two asleep yet, it’s almost two o’clock?” Sacha asked.
“We’re cleaning up the kitchen,” Freya replied.
“What about Linda?” Sacha inquired.
“She’s in the hospital,” Freya answered simply.
“Oh, I see. I should have come back earlier to help,” Sacha regretted.
“If you can, great. I need to sleep, and you should too,” Freya urged.
Sacha nodded.
Freya came out after taking a shower.
She saw a cup of red sugar water on the bedside table.
Freya walked over to the bed, looking at the man lying there, “Did you make this?”
Elijah nodded.
He said, “Drink it while it’s hot.”
Freya sat on the bed.
She picked up the cup, holding it in her hands.
She asked, “Elijah, would you regret not having a daughter?”
“I have a son,” Elijah looked up, “Why are you thinking about this?”
Freya finished the red sugar water.
Then she lay down on the bed, hugging him tightly.
Elijah remarked, “You’ve been quite affectionate lately.”
Without replying, Freya buried her head in his chest.
It was getting late.
They fell into a deep sleep.
In the morning at six o’clock, Freya woke up.
With Linda not around and Elowen taking care of the children, she had to get up to prepare breakfast.
Elijah wrapped his arms around her waist, “Sleep a little longer.”
Freya kissed his cheek, “You sleep, I need to make breakfast. I have to drop Luna off later, then go to the hospital. Sacha is still at home, if I don’t make breakfast, no one will have anything to eat.”
“I’ll have breakfast sent over…” Elijah tried to suggest.
Freya insisted, “Let me make it.”
She got out of bed after covering him again, “You sleep.”
She changed her clothes and went downstairs.
Sacha was also up.
“Waking up so early?” she asked.
Sacha mentioned breakfast preparation.
Knowing there was no one else in the house, Freya decided to help.
So the two of them quickly prepared breakfast together.
Afterwards, Freya went to dress Kai.
Elowen was holding Morton.
Morton also woke up early.
After breakfast, Sacha took care of the dishes.
Freya felt bad but didn’t have time, so she had to leave it to Sacha as she had to rush to the hotel.
She dropped Luna off and bought breakfast on the way to the hospital.
Upon arriving at the hospital, she thanked Neo.
“No problem,” Neo replied.
“I bought breakfast, have some before you head back,” Freya offered, putting the food on the table.
Neo graciously accepted.
Freya checked on Linda’s condition.
“She’s fine, in good spirits. Just took some medicine and fell asleep,” Neo informed her.
Freya nodded.
“If you’re overwhelmed, just give me a call anytime,” Neo offered.
Feeling guilty for bothering him, Freya said, “I’ll find a nurse today.”
As Neo left the hospital, he hurried back shortly after.
He seemed rushed and out of breath.
Freya poured him some water, “What’s wrong? Take a break.”
Neo exclaimed, “It’s a big deal, a big deal.”
