When Freya came back from the hospital, she didn’t see Sacha.
If she had already returned, there would have been some movement in the house, not staying in her room.
“She probably hasn’t come back yet,” Freya said.
Elijah nodded.
…
Sacha dropped Evan off at his place, and he said, “I drank too much, not feeling well.”
Sacha parked the car, got out, and helped him back home.
“Lie down on the couch for a while, I’ll make you some sobering soup,” Sacha said.
Evan held her hand, “Just having you by my side is enough.”
He wasn’t drunk at all.
That little bit of alcohol couldn’t make him drunk.
His capacity for alcohol was still good.
At that moment Sacha also realized, and pierced through, “Intentionally deceiving me?”
Evan smiled.
His lips slightly upturned, he pulled Sacha into his embrace.
Wrapped tightly around her waist.
“I didn’t expect you to come see me,” he said in genuine surprise.
Sacha lowered her head, speaking softly, “Love is mutual, I can’t let you always be the one giving.”
Evan rested his chin on her shoulder, “I’ll ask Mr. Silverton for a leave tomorrow, I’ll accompany you back to Country M for a while.”
“How can you?” Sacha turned to look at him, her tone serious, “You need to help my brother.”
Evan shrugged, “Is your brother that important?”
Sacha raised her head, “Yes, even though we’re not related by blood, nominally we are, and he accepts me too.”
Evan suddenly chuckled, “Am I climbing high? Getting involved with the boss’s sister?”
“You’re just realizing?” Sacha joked.
Evan looked serious, “Xander is back, he has someone helping him, I haven’t taken a break for a long time, now things here are almost done, work-wise, Xander can take over my job, I should be able to spare some time.”
Sacha knew he wanted to spend more time with her.
Her most common complaint in the past was that he was always too busy.
Had no time to be with her.
“You don’t have to, really,” she held Evan’s hand, “If you don’t work, and are always with me, it will be very boring, I have work over there, you have work here, we can keep in touch on the phone, you have time, come see me, I have time, I will come see you, it’s fine like this.”
Evan fell silent for a moment, “Okay.”
“Aren’t you going to sleep?” Sacha asked him.
Evan leaned in close to her ear, blowing hot air softly, “Can’t sleep, I want you to accompany me all night…”
“No.” Sacha suddenly stood up from his embrace.
Looking a bit panicked.
Her hands clenched into fists.
Palms sweating.
Evan realized she might have misunderstood.
Softly, he said, “Sacha, I won’t touch you.”
He knew Sacha hadn’t fully gotten over that shadow.
He wouldn’t make her uncomfortable.
“I’m sorry.”
Sacha turned and ran outside.
Evan embraced her from behind.
“You’re not wrong,” Evan gently comforted her, “It was my words that were wrong, causing you to misunderstand. I miss you a lot, as long as I can see you, I’m happy, you know?”
Sacha swallowed the sourness in her throat, turning to look at him.
Evan lightly kissed her cheek.
Both of them stayed silent.
After a while, they lay on the couch, embracing each other.
This posture made them feel supported.
“I should go back,” Sacha said.
“It’s still early,” Evan said.
“It’s almost midnight.”
“Too late, just don’t go back.”
“No,” Sacha said, “I promised I would go back, it wouldn’t be good if I didn’t…”
Evan said, “Don’t worry, no one will say anything. Your brother and sister-in-law are experienced, they understand everything. Spending the night here is normal, we were already planning on getting married, it’s normal to spend the night with me. They won’t say anything.”
“That’s still not okay,” Sacha felt distance could create beauty.
Haven’t seen each other in a long time, meeting once, would make them very happy, wanting to stay close to each other.
Evan sighed, “Then I’ll drive you back.”
“No need,” Sacha said, “You’ve been drinking.”
She drove back on her own.
Evan escorted her downstairs.
Reluctantly waving goodbye.
Upon arriving home, Sacha intended to quietly go back to her room, but all the lights in the house were still on.
Elijah had already showered, wearing silk pajamas, sitting on the sofa, reading real-time financial magazines.
Freya was still busy in the kitchen.
“Why are you both still awake?”
