Freya, surprised, pulled Sacha into the house.
“When did you get back?” she asked.
“Just got off the plane,” Sacha replied.
Glancing around the room, she noticed there were guests at home.
Freya introduced her to Luna, “This is Luna, my good friend. And this is Officer Yang.”
Sacha nodded in greeting, “Hello.”
Luna smiled back, but she seemed less lively since the incident. Her demeanor was much more serene now.
“I haven’t been back for a long time. I want to take Tyler out to see the sights,” Luna said, before making an excuse to leave as the guests arrived.
Freya didn’t know if Sacha’s sudden return meant something was wrong, but she agreed to Luna’s request.
She personally escorted Luna out.
Grasping her arm, she said, “Come back for dinner tonight. We haven’t had a chance to catch up.”
Luna agreed with a smile.
Freya arranged for the driver to accompany them since they didn’t have a car.
“You’re pregnant, let the driver be with you,” Freya said.
Luna accepted her kindness, “I won’t refuse then.”
“Thanks for helping me so much, I should return the favor,” Freya replied as she closed the door and watched them leave before heading back inside.
“Would you like some water?” Freya asked Sacha.
Sacha was indeed a little thirsty.
“What would you like to drink?” Freya inquired.
“Just some juice,” Sacha replied.
Freya poured a glass of Linda’s freshly squeezed juice from the fridge and made herself a cup of hot sugared water.
As they sat down, Freya asked, “Are you back to see Evan?”
Sacha lowered her head, “He’s been busy lately, so I came to check on him.”
Freya tightened her grip on the water cup. The warmth in her palm was comforting, but facing Sacha made her feel cold.
She felt guilty towards Sacha, a burden that would probably stay with her forever.
Evan had been busy recently, likely due to her.
She felt like she was always causing trouble for others.
“Sister-in-law, what’s wrong?” Sacha noticed her despondent mood.
Freya quickly shook her head.
“It’s nothing, I was just lost in my thoughts,” she said, sitting next to Sacha, holding her hand in hers, “I’m really happy that you and Evan are making amends.”
Sacha pursed her lips, “I really like him, but sometimes I feel like I’m not good enough for him.”
Freya didn’t know what to say to comfort or reassure her.
The verbal consolation, against the hurt she had inflicted, felt feeble.
“Perhaps time can heal everything,” she said softly.
Sacha looked elsewhere, her gaze unfocused, “Maybe.”
“I envy the relationship you and my brother have,” she continued.
Elijah and Freya seemed the happiest couple, not only in her eyes, but likely in others’ as well.
Freya felt content with her life now.
However…
“Are you planning to stay longer this time?” Freya purposely changed the subject.
Sacha shook her head, “I took a day off to come back; I’ll leave after seeing Evan.”
She glanced at Evan and left.

Sacha stayed home to take care of Morton, while Elowen and Freya went shopping.
There were guests coming over tonight, so they needed to prepare some good food.
Pushing the shopping cart, she dialed Elijah’s number on her phone.
“Hello?” came his deep voice.
“Are you busy today? Can you come back earlier?” Freya asked.
“Is something wrong?”
“Yes. I invited Luna for dinner, and Sacha is back. Don’t tell Evan; give him a surprise. Bring him back for dinner tonight.”
“Alright, got it.”
Freya remembered something and asked, “By the way, how’s the Dean’s situation going?”
“I’ll tell you when I get back tonight.”
Elijah then hung up.
Freya stared at the phone screen that had just been disconnected.
This man…
It was past six in the evening.
