Two people, in a mess, lying at the doorstep, Elijah couldn’t help but frown in silence.
“Why are they lying at the doorstep?” Freya asked as she squatted down.
A strong smell of alcohol wafted into their nostrils.
She raised her eyebrows, “Have they been drinking?”
“Seems like it.” Elijah called the driver and Eagle, “Take them inside.”
Once the driver was done, he would be responsible for driving Linda around.
With two children at home, Linda often had to go shopping.
Freya instructed Linda, “Make them some sobering soup, they must have had quite a bit to drink.”
They were completely out of it.
Linda said, “Sure, you guys go ahead, I’ll put them in the guest room and take care of them.”
Freya nodded at Elijah, “Let’s go.”
“Alright.”
Elijah drove off first.
And Eagle followed suit.
Seeing that they weren’t heading to the hospital, Freya said, “You’re going the wrong way, you need to turn up ahead.”
“I’m taking you to a facility.”
“I’m not going to the facility…”
“Then to my company.” Before she could finish her sentence, Elijah interrupted her.
“I can’t go without seeing for myself.” Freya asserted, she still wanted to go to the hospital.
“What’s the point of going? It won’t change anything, all you can do now is wait.”
Elijah ignored her, “If the patient’s family sees you, they might get upset and cause a scene.”
After all, the patient was still in critical condition.
Freya didn’t need to be there.
Elijah took her to his company, “Just save your breath.”
Freya glanced at him and coldly grunted, “All this talk of taking me to the hospital was just to deceive me.”
“I’m not deceiving you. Would you have willingly gotten into my car otherwise?” Elijah chuckled lightly, triumphant. “Be good and listen to me.”
Freya had no say in the matter now.
She wanted to go to the hospital, but Elijah wasn’t going to take her.
The car was moving, and she couldn’t just jump out.
She had to play along.
“You’re so cunning!” She truly underestimated Elijah.
“I should have known better, how could you take me to the hospital.”
Since she couldn’t outsmart him, she had no choice but to follow his lead. “I won’t go to the hospital, but I won’t go to your company either.”
“Hmm?” Elijah glanced over at her.
“What would I do there? I can’t help with anything and I don’t understand anything.”
She could even be laughed at. Her face had been thoroughly disgraced in Elijah’s company.
“What do you want to do then?” Elijah asked.
Freya’s brain quickly churned, unable to think of a better place to go.
If she had known Elijah wouldn’t let her go to the hospital, she wouldn’t have left the house.
“Just take me back home, I’ll stay with Kai.”
“You’re too quiet, you’ll start overthinking.” Freya shrugged.
“Fine, wherever you take me, I’ll go.” Elijah raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure?”
Freya said, “I may not be as clever as you, I can’t outsmart you.”
“Why does that sound like a grudge to me?”
“It’s not.” And it truly wasn’t.
She had simply given up resisting.
Elijah drove towards the outskirts.
Freya didn’t ask where they were going.
It must have been a long way, as the car took a while to stop.
Getting out of the car, she saw a vast expanse of grass.
“So, what’s this place for?”
“Come in, you’ll see.” Elijah put his arm around her shoulder.
The person at the gate saw Elijah and immediately approached, “Mr. Silverton, it’s been a while since you’ve been here.”
