“I’ve found some clues about those people, I need to go there.”
The clues were not in this city, Evan needed to go there and confirm. He was already on his way, but he had to give Elijah a heads up.
Elijah made a sound of agreement, “Contact me anytime.”
“Alright.”
After speaking, Elijah hung up the phone.
He turned around and looked towards Freya, but she wasn’t in her place.
His heart tightened instantly.
Maybe too many things had happened to her.
When something was out of the ordinary, it was easy to think of something bad.
He looked around.
And saw her coming towards him, holding something in her hand.
He furrowed his brows and walked towards her.
“Where did you go?”
Freya handed him the food, “I bought these for you. It’s late, and there’s nothing else available.”
Elijah stared at her without saying a word.
Thinking that he didn’t like it either, Freya said, “This is much lighter. If you don’t want to eat it, go back and let Linda prepare some supper for you…”
“No,”
Elijah interrupted her, “I turned around and didn’t see you.”
Freya smiled and asked, “What? You can’t leave me even a second?”
Elijah embraced her, half jokingly and half seriously, domineering yet doting, “Yes, you can’t leave my sight for a moment.”
Freya raised her eyes and looked at him, his slender neck and prominent Adam’s apple were particularly sexy, filled with a masculine scent.
“Or, you can be my bodyguard and follow me every day.” She pouted and coquettishly leaned against him.
Elijah laughed, “You’ll support me?”
Freya shamelessly said, “Yea, I’ll support you.”
“Come, sit down.” Freya placed the food she bought somewhere else on the table, “I know you don’t like greasy food. Just bear with it tonight. Next time, I won’t make you accompany me to eat these.”
“It’s okay. I can accompany you occasionally, but not too often.”
Elijah wasn’t used to it.
But Freya was really thoughtful.
He didn’t like the greasy smoky smell, so she specifically bought some others. She was taking care of his preferences.
Elijah would also take care of Freya’s appetite, but he didn’t think barbecue food was healthy.
So they should eat less of it.
Freya nodded, “Okay.”
After finishing the supper, on the way back.
Freya held Kai and didn’t dare to get too close to him, afraid that her strong barbecue smell would rub off on him.
Barbecue had a strong seasoning, so the taste was more intense.
She leaned closer to Elijah, “Do I smell bad?”
Elijah started the car and said, “No, you don’t.”
Freya didn’t believe it and got even closer, trying to let him smell it, deliberately speaking to him, “Are you sure you don’t mind?”
Elijah looked at her, “What, do you want me to prove it to you?”
“How would you prove it…”
Before she could finish her words, Elijah kissed her lips.
“Is this enough of a proof?” he asked with a strong smile.
Freya shyly pushed him away.
Elijah leaned closer, “Do you want me to prove it again?”
Freya almost blurted out “stay away”.
“Focus on driving.” She sat up straight.
Elijah drove the car out.
Freya’s phone suddenly rang with a message notification.
She took out her phone, opened the message, [Tomorrow, let’s meet at Blue Sky Cafe.]
There was no name mentioned, just an unfamiliar number.
She was puzzled.
“What’s wrong?” Elijah asked.
“A message.” She said proactively, “Someone wants to meet me, but this number is unfamiliar.”
Elijah said, “You shouldn’t go.”
At this moment, Freya’s phone rang again.
