Elena Bush’s mournful words were like knives lacerating Logan Brown’s heart, why wouldn’t he want to?
But he couldn’t, and he dared not be reckless with her and the child’s safety ……
So he could only hold her close in silence, telling her silently that he was there for her.
“Knock knock knock!”
A knock on the door interrupted the warmth of the two, and Elena Bush immediately raised her guard, “How could Dr Thomas be back so soon?”
She said, subconsciously pushing him into the bathroom, “Stay here while I check.”

Logan Brown sat on the toilet, feeling stifled for the first time, yet helpless.
Elena Bush cautiously pulled open a doorway and sure enough, the person standing outside the door was not Dr Thomas, but the butler.

Elena Bush hesitated, “He said he had a phone call and went out, so I don’t know where he’s gone.”

The housekeeper tried to say something else, but when he saw her wary face, he withdrew his words and said bitterly, “Miss Elena, I know you have a complaint against Mr. Ford, but I am an outsider and I can see that Mr. Ford really does treat you well.”
“Heh.”
She sneered, “But whether his sincerity is for this face of mine or otherwise, I think you should know better than I do too.”
“This ……” The housekeeper’s words were blocked at once, not knowing how to advise, “Then you intend to hate him for the rest of your life? But it doesn’t seem to me that it would be a good thing for you or for the child.”

She pulled at the corners of her mouth and responded faintly, “He won’t compromise, so why should I? I’m a normal person too, and I want to make my own decisions about my own life, not follow everything he decides to live ……”

“Ugh ……” the housekeeper shook her head hopelessly, “Miss Elena, you really do look exactly like Miss Joanna Lake back then… …”

Elena Bush tightened her brow, faintly sensing that something was wrong, and her grip on the door frame tightened a little, “What were you saying, that Joanna Lake was just like me? Is it ……”

When the housekeeper saw him, it was like seeing a saviour, “Dr Thomas, you are here, I’ve got a headache, and it’s getting worse.
Before Elena Bush could say the words she wanted to ask, the butler had already disappeared quickly out of her sight with the man.

She opened her mouth to call out to the pair when her wrist was suddenly clasped.
Turning around, it was Logan Brown!
Her heart rose and she took him back into the bedroom, “Why did you come out like that? What if someone saw you?”
Logan Brown stared intently at her face, “What did you say to the housekeeper just now?”
“I ……” Elena Bush bit her lip, “I think he’s worked at the Ford for years and has lived and died with the Ford, so …… he should know something about Joanna Lake.”
“Elena!” the man’s face was serious as it had never been before, “Don’t ask, and don’t try to find out, do you understand?”

Not getting an answer, Logan Brown continued, “Promise me, Elena, don’t worry about anything, just wait for me, I’ll come back for you and I’ll take you home, okay?”
Perhaps she saw the deepest fear in Logan Brown’s eyes, so she nodded her head as if possessed, “Yes.”
