Freya quickly pushed the things back.
Luna stopped her hand.
“This money isn’t for you, it’s meant to ask you to pass it on to Zane,” Luna said.
Now Freya was even more confused. “Why give him money?”
Luna explained, “This is what I owe him. It might not fully compensate for the losses I caused him. You must have heard that your Stone family’s company went bankrupt because of me.”
This money was all she had saved, along with a small house she owned in Stratos City. She had asked her former colleague to help her sell it.
Originally, it wasn’t supposed to happen so quickly.
Coincidentally, her colleague was looking to buy a house and thought her property was suitable. So, he sent her the money in advance, and she would handle the paperwork later.
“Why would it be because of you? I know very well that it was the Russo and Holt families…” Freya started.
“Freya,” Luna interrupted, “Don’t make me feel guilty. We both know deep down that if it wasn’t for me getting close to Zane, they wouldn’t have targeted him, and certainly not your family’s company. So, please don’t refuse. Help me deliver it to him.”
Knowing Luna’s personality, Freya reluctantly accepted.
“If you ever need anything urgently, come to me.”
“I came to you this time for another reason,” Luna said, curling her lips. “I might be leaving.”
Freya panicked and asked anxiously, “Leaving? Where are you going?”
“To a place where nobody knows me, to live a quiet life,” Luna replied.
“Can’t I know either?” Freya asked.
Luna nodded. “If you know, can you withstand Zane and Orion’s questioning?”
Freya heard her words and made up her mind.
“If you’re here, we can take care of each other. If you leave, you’ll be all alone.” She tried her best to persuade Luna.
She knew that even though Luna still had a father, it was as good as having none.
There’s a stepmother, so there’s also a stepfather.
“Why do you have to leave?” Freya asked.
“I want a fresh start,” Luna answered.
Freya looked at her and hesitated for a few seconds before asking, “What about Zane…”
“I see him as a younger brother,” Luna lowered her eyes. “To be honest, it’s my fault. I should have made it clear earlier.”
“What about Orion? Do you still love him?” Freya cautiously probed. “Can you stay for him?”
Luna looked at her and asked, “Do you think we still have a chance?”
Freya was at a loss for words.
If she were to answer truthfully, she didn’t know what she would choose.
After all, what Debra had done to Luna was unforgivable.
It was a matter of life and death.
No one could easily forgive such actions.
Being with Orion meant facing Debra.
No matter who was in that situation, it would be hard to accept.
“You see, you don’t have an answer. You know that there are too many things between us. It’s impossible for us to be together. But I’ve let go, let go of the grudges, let go of our past,” Luna gently smiled. “Between him, his mother, and me, we’re even now. During my time of amnesia, I’ve vented and sought revenge.”
Freya stared at her, her eyes fixed on Luna.
Luna’s words were clear.
It was evident that she had made up her mind.
“Think about it some more?” Freya still wanted to persuade her to stay. “Going to a strange place alone, without friends or family, wouldn’t that be so lonely?”
“I’m still young. If I meet the right person, I might get married. I won’t be alone forever,” Luna smiled. “Don’t worry about me.”
Freya pursed her lips tightly. “How can I not worry? You’ll be all alone…”
“Don’t worry, it’s getting late, I still have things to do,” Luna stood up.
Freya grabbed her arm. “Are you still mad at me?”
“What are you talking about?” Luna held her hand. “Don’t you know me by now? I just want to start a new life. If I stay here, I won’t be able to start fresh.”
She was right.
Freya had no argument.
If Luna was happy.
Then she would support her.
“Well, I should support your decision, but if you ever feel lonely, you must contact me. I promise I won’t reveal your address.”
Luna joked, “I’ll sneak to see you.”
Freya laughed, her lips curved with a hint of worry.
She tightly held Luna’s hand. “You must sneak back to see me.”
“Okay.”
She smiled.
…
The next day.
Freya went straight to the principal’s office as soon as she arrived at the school.
As she was about to raise her hand to knock on the door.
She heard voices coming from inside.
