“Freya, let’s meet up!”
Elijah raised his gaze, seemingly asking who it was.
Freya shook her head, indicating that she was completely unfamiliar with this voice.
Moreover, the phone number was a string of unfamiliar digits.
Elijah pressed the speakerphone button and asked, “Who is this?”
The person found it wasn’t Freya’s voice so he hung up decisively.
Freya furrowed her brow. “Who could that be?”
Elijah shook his head and said, “I don’t know.”
He was guessing whether it could be Ronan on the run, using voice-changing software to call.
He noted down the number and sent it to Evan to look into it.
“At this time, should we go to the emergency room?” Elijah asked.
Freya nodded and said, “Yes.”
In truth, Freya didn’t have any major issues. Drinking some warm porridge would probably alleviate her discomfort.
After the doctor examined her, they said that if she couldn’t bear the stomachache, they could prescribe painkillers for her.
Freya knew that those drugs had significant side effects.
And they only addressed the symptoms, not the root cause.
The stomach needed to be nourished.
Therefore, she declined the medication and got up to leave the clinic.
“What did the doctor say?” Elijah asked.
“Just need some food,” she replied.
Elijah thought for a moment and wondered if any restaurants were still open. Freya said, “I’ll go home and cook some porridge.”
“I’ll call home in advance and have Linda prepare it for you. When you get home, you can eat,” he said, dialing the phone number at home.
As Elijah was giving instructions to Linda, Freya’s footsteps suddenly halted.
He turned around and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Freya gestured for him to look ahead.
He looked up and saw Deck.
He was holding a lot of medicine in his hands.
Deck was also taken aback when he saw them, probably not expecting to run into them at this time.
He took the initiative to speak first, “Master Elijah, Madam.”
Elijah didn’t pay attention to him and didn’t inquire about the medicine he was carrying.
It was obvious that Jack was sick.
Deck appearing here at this moment was surely because of Jack.
Elijah didn’t want to ask about it, so he took Freya’s hand and said, “Let’s go.”
And their steps were fast, as if they were avoiding something.
“Master Elijah, the master is seriously ill. Are you really going to abandon him and not even spare him a glance?” Deck’s voice came from behind.
Elijah’s steps didn’t falter.
Freya glanced at him sideways.
His profile was tense.
He must be conflicted in his heart!
Even if Elijah refused to admit it, Jack was his family, and that was an unchangeable fact.
The blood of the Silverton family flowed within him, which was also unchangeable.
Freya didn’t say anything.
She just quietly followed him.
Perhaps, at this moment, Elijah preferred silence.
When they returned home, the porridge Linda cooked was not ready yet. Freya waited for a while, during which she went to check on the children. At this time, both children were fast asleep.
By the time she finished eating the porridge, it was already three in the morning.
Elijah stood on the balcony.
Freya had no idea what he was thinking about.
She walked over and stood beside him.
The moon was bright tonight. The stars sprinkled across the night sky.
“Let’s go to sleep,” Elijah turned around.
Freya nodded and said it was getting late.
She still slept on the couch.
She didn’t share a bed with Elijah.
Elijah knew her thoughts and didn’t insist. He only said to her, “Next time, I’ll sleep on the couch.”
Freya said, “You won’t be comfortable on the couch. It’s too narrow. I sleep well on it.”
Elijah turned his body to look at her.
Freya also looked at him.
The two of them stood there, separated by a small distance, gazing at each other.

In the morning, during work hours, Freya looked a bit tired because she hadn’t rested well at night.
She tried to boost her spirits.
As she walked to the gate of the courtyard, a voice suddenly came from behind.
