Evan didn’t dare to hide the truth. “Ronan escaped.”
At that time, both Ronan and his assistant were badly injured, so Evan locked them together without increasing the security.
In an instant, Elijah understood.
Ronan had put everything in Stratos City.
Perhaps he did it to distract him?
No matter what measures Evan took, Ronan would definitely escape during this trip.
The way out?
This was probably Ronan’s ultimate way out, right?
Elijah couldn’t help but press his lips together. Ronan was playing his cards deep now.
“I knew he escaped and immediately sent people to pursue him, but we were still too late. He managed to leave the country without any delay, and the timing of his departure was just right. I can’t quite figure out how he pulled off such a seamless plan.”
Evan had started tracking Ronan the moment he escaped, trying to intercept him at the airport and train station. Yet, Ronan still managed to get away.
From the timing, it seemed like it was prearranged.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so tightly connected.
In a foreign country, it was difficult to catch him, unlike in their own country.
“I was negligent in this matter,” Evan blamed himself.
Elijah took a deep breath. “It’s not your fault. Even though he escaped abroad, we still need to find him.”
“Yes, I will arrange it,” Evan replied.
Elijah nodded.

When Orion woke up, he only saw Debra, but not Luna. His expression darkened immediately.
“Where is Luna?” he asked anxiously.
“What’s wrong with you?” Debra sighed. “Is there only one woman in this world? Why must it be her? Do you have to die at her hands before you give up?!”
Orion stared at his mother. “Are you implying that my injury is because of Luna? No, Mom, let me tell you, my injury has nothing to do with her. It was my own doing. You’re not allowed to be prejudiced against her.”
Debra was almost furious. She felt that Orion was being stubborn and not listening to reason.
“I’m willing to apologize to her. I’ve already apologized for what I should apologize for. I hope you can reconcile, but she refuses to let go of the past, insisting that I pay with my life. So, tell me, should I die to make it up to her? Do you really think that love is more important than family? I’m your biological mother, do you have to sacrifice me in order to make you all happy?”
Orion turned to the side, facing away from Debra. “I will win back her heart. It takes time. I understand everything she’s done because she’s been hurt. Mom, put yourself in her shoes. If someone harmed you but didn’t kill you, would you not hold any grudges against them?”
Debra grew impatient. “Enough with the back-and-forth. Is this going anywhere?”
“Just treat Luna well and don’t meddle in anything else. She’s human, not made of steel. She can feel our sincerity. Mom, if you still care about me as your son, please don’t say anything that would separate me from Luna. After all this time, you should understand my feelings.”
Debra tightly pursed her lips and her voice choked as she spoke, “You are my son. You’re injured now, but I can’t hold the culprit accountable. If one day you die, then what about…”
“That’s enough!” Orion angrily stood up, his movements aggravating his wound, causing him to grimace in pain. “Didn’t I already say it? My injury is my own doing, it has nothing to do with Luna. Why do you insist on blaming her? It’s ridiculous…”
Furious, Orion gasped for breath heavily.
“I arranged for Luna to live with you, hoping that you can get along, understand each other, and gradually develop a bond. For me, you both are the most important people, but neither of you… gives me peace of mind. Are you both trying to drive me crazy?!”
“It’s your stubbornness. I won’t say anything more to you.” Debra maneuvered her wheelchair, stopped at the doorway, and added, “Don’t you think that you and Luna are not meant to be?”
“We’re not meant to be?” Orion sneered. “How ridiculous!”
His tone was commanding. “You’re not allowed to say such things again in the future!”
