The sharp blade pierced through his clothes in an instant, sinking into his flesh, staining his white shirt with crimson blood.
Luna’s hand hanging by her side trembled slightly, but the next moment, she clenched her fingers and looked up, saying, “Your ploy of sacrificing yourself means nothing to me. Even if you die before me, I won’t shed a single tear.”
Orion seemed to hear the sound of his heart shattering.
The pain on his body was nothing compared to the pain in his heart.
He couldn’t believe it.
He and Luna ended like this.
They used to be in love.
They had deeply loved each other.
He couldn’t believe that Luna had no feelings for him anymore. Not even a bit!
He grabbed Luna’s hand and held the knife handle, saying, “If you truly have no feelings for me, then use this knife to pierce through my heart.”
Luna averted her gaze. “You want me to become a murderer? How sinister! If you really want to die, then kill yourself. Don’t make me carry the burden of being a killer!”
Orion chuckled bitterly. “Luna, although you’ve forgotten many things, your personality hasn’t changed. Fine, I’ll listen to you.”
He closed his eyes. “I owe you a life, and today I’ll repay it!”
He resolutely embraced death, his love for her.
Luna watched as the blade penetrated his body, estimating a depth of four to five centimeters.
She had been a forensic scientist. Even if she had forgotten the past, some professional instincts remained in her subconscious.
She could accurately assess that if the blade went two centimeters deeper, it would be fatal.
Someone might actually die.
And as a doctor, Orion knew that well.
But he was tired.
He truly owed Luna a life.
Perhaps by repaying it, he would have a chance to reunite with her.
Luna held his hand tightly. “Even if you want to die, don’t do it in front of me.”
Her face showed indifference, but she picked up the phone and dialed 911.
Orion looked at her and asked, “Deep down, do you actually care about me?”
Luna refused to admit it. “Ridiculous. I just don’t want to get involved in a legal mess. If you die in front of me, I won’t be able to explain.”
Orion didn’t care. He grabbed her hand. “Luna, I have made many mistakes, but my feelings for you have never wavered. I know you’re determined to leave me because I haven’t been firm enough, unable to provide you with a sense of security. If I had been more careful, you wouldn’t have lost your memory because of my family. I can’t let you go now because I can’t live without you, you know?”
Luna turned her face away, avoiding his gaze. “I don’t know.”
Orion couldn’t hold on any longer and slumped onto the couch. His lips turned pale. “You pretend not to know, but deep down, you must feel my love for you.”
Luna glanced at him. “You’re not about to die and still talking about love?”
Orion strained his dry throat. “Being able to talk about love with you is worth dying for.”
Luna ignored him and went outside to see if the ambulance had arrived.
After more than twenty minutes, the ambulance finally came.
Orion was taken to the hospital by the ambulance.
Luna hesitated for a moment but decided to follow along.
She needed to know what was going on with him.
Orion was taken into the examination room.
Luna sat on a bench outside, waiting.
Debra happened to finish her medication at the hospital and saw Luna in the hallway.
She approached, “Why are you at the hospital?”
At that moment, the door of the examination room opened, and a nurse came out and asked, “Who is the family member of the patient?”
“What? Who is injured?” Debra looked at Luna, already having an answer in her heart, but still asked, “Is Orion hurt?”
Luna didn’t answer.
Debra turned to the nurse and asked, “What kind of injury did my son sustain?”
“A knife wound,” the nurse said. “Are you the family member? Please sign this consent form. The patient needs to undergo a minor surgery.”
Upon hearing it was a knife wound and that surgery was needed, Debra almost fainted. Her sharp gaze shot at Luna. “It’s you, isn’t it?”
