Eddie curled up, holding his head. A kick to the stomach left him writhing in pain. His intestines felt like they had been shattered. He winced in agony, “I… I really don’t know anything…”
If he stayed silent, the beating would ease up a bit. But as soon as he spoke, the blows became even more severe. Evan joined in, delivering a powerful kick to his chest.
“Ah!” Eddie cried out in misery. It sounded like bones cracking. He clutched his chest, his face turning pale. It seemed like he couldn’t catch his breath and began convulsing. Evan signaled for them to stop. He didn’t want Eddie to be beaten to death.
“You all went too far with the violence.” He scolded.
Then, six or seven people stared directly at him. It was as if they were saying, “Who are you talking about?”
Evan had been the one to inflict the most damage.
Evan cleared his throat, “Why are you all still staring at me?”
Several pairs of eyes continued to stare at him. He waved his hand, “Alright, alright. I was the one who went too far. Check if he’s dead or not.”
One of the men in black crouched down to check Eddie’s breathing. He exhaled with force.
“He’s not dead,” he reported, standing back up.
Elijah towered over them, “Ronan, no matter how much I torture him, I won’t let him die. But you, it’s different. Think it through.”
Eddie trembled, speaking in a stuttering voice, “I… I really don’t know.”
He was truly loyal to Ronan. Even though the pain was unbearable, he could not betray Ronan since he had been good to him.
Of course, death was also terrifying. Once dead, there would be nothing left. One would no longer be able to experience anything in this world, slowly forgotten, until they vanished. It was terrifying just to think about it. But humans always have a bit of their own beliefs.
Elijah raised an eyebrow, surprised to find that Eddie had some integrity.
“What if we wake up Ronan?” Evan suggested quietly.
Elijah looked up at him.
Evan immediately said, “He’s not afraid to die alone. Maybe if Ronan sees his own people being tortured like this, he’ll loosen his lips.”
Elijah didn’t give it much thought. “Do as you suggested.”
It’s hard to crack someone with loyalty just by inflicting physical pain.
Evan’s suggestion was a good idea.
Evan immediately ordered someone to do it. Soon, the doctor used a silver needle to wake Ronan up. He groggily opened his eyes, feeling pain all over his body, unable to move his limbs. The agony of living was nothing compared to this moment.
“What… are you all… planning?” Ronan’s cracked lips curled up, his voice hoarse from dryness in his throat. He wanted to mock them, but he didn’t have the strength.
Evan stood by the bed. “We won’t do anything to you.”
Ronan snorted, his voice as weak as a mosquito’s.
“Bring him here.” Evan gave the order, and Eddie was dragged to the front of the bed, for Ronan to see.
“It’s okay, you don’t have to say anything.”
Ronan grew angry, “If you have a problem, come after me. I’m the one responsible for everything… don’t redirect your anger…”
“Heh,” Evan laughed. “You don’t have the right to negotiate with us now.”
“Take action!” He raised his hand.
His subordinates immediately started beating Eddie, who curled up and cried out in pain. It was undeniably brutal. Ronan felt his heart race, wanting to cover his ears. But Evan held down his hands, making him listen.
“Don’t you find this sound beautiful?” he chuckled.
Ronan glared at him. Eddie’s screams were too agonizing. Ronan’s heart panicked. This was the person most loyal to him. Was he going to watch his own people be beaten to death like this? Afterwards, who would be willing to serve him?
“Stop.” With all his strength, he roared.
“What? Do you have something to say?” Evan asked.
