“Is it me who doesn’t want to admit it, or are you kidding yourself, I think you know better than anyone how Elena treats you.” Logan Brown always demolished his lies with such ease that he was left with no room to manoeuvre.
Edward Ford looked at him angrily, “That was before! What could you possibly know about Elena after you left her?”
“Why wouldn’t I know?” He asked rhetorically, “I know more about Elena’s feelings than anyone else, what have you done to her?”
“That’s not your business, all you need to know is that I will take care of her and you, after all, cannot be with her!”
Edward Ford’s words were too firm to be contradicted.
Logan Brown leaned back slightly, leaning on the back of his chair, all languid, “We’ll see then ……”
The man’s eyes were tinged with a darker shade of meaning.
Edward Ford swept a suspicious glance at him, always feel that there is something odd.
As a matter of fact, before he could get an answer to his speculation, his assistant pushed open the door and barged in, “President Ford, there’s a big problem!”
“What is this panic?” Edward Ford glared at him, a little displeased with his uncontrollable demeanour.
The assistant glanced at Edward Ford, then at Logan Brown, and gritted his teeth before he leaned in and whispered in Edward Ford’s ear.
The next moment, Edward Ford, who was still calm, stood up sharply, only to see his face in shock, his eyes locked on Logan Brown’s body, obviously unable to believe what he had just heard!
It was only after a long moment that he turned his face to confirm, “What did you just say? Say it again!”
“There’s been a big tax audit by the Ford Group, saying that we’ve been cheating on our taxes, and the last batch of new products were found to be out of spec, and now ……”
The assistant’s head was in a tizzy as she blurted out all this.
Edward Ford subconsciously turned his attention to Logan Brown with a look of horror in his eyes, “Logan Brown! You did this, didn’t you!”
Who else but him would target the Ford Group so deliberately!
It was at that word that the man raised his eyes lazily and swept him away with what appeared to be contempt.
It was this gesture that made Edward Ford more and more furious, wanting to tear his face off right then and there!
After a silence, Logan Brown laughed and said, “Mr. Ford has wronged me, I’ve only just arrived in G. How would I know about the Ford Group?”
“If not you, who else!?”
Edward Ford obviously did not believe his one-sided words, and the chill in his eyes deepened, “Logan Brown, you don’t have to pretend, no one in G City dares to touch the Ford, and no one dares to touch the Ford Group!”
Not even the slightest hint of an unpleasant thought!
How could such a situation occur one after another now?
Moreover, they were all coming at once, so it was obvious that they had been planned.
Logan Brown shook his head innocently, “Is Mr Ford talking to himself? Or is he too confident of himself?”
“What do you mean by that!?”
“You say that no one in G City dares to touch The Ford Group, but you don’t know how many people want to hit you, so …… Mr Ford has so many enemies, how can he blame it all on me?”
“Sophistry!” Edward Ford snarled.
Logan Brown smiled and spread his hands, “Since Mr. Ford is sure it’s me, there’s nothing more I can say, except ……”
Just what?
Edward Ford never took his eyes off his body, fearing he might miss the flash of emotion on his face.
Logan Brown, however, seemed particularly unconcerned and said carelessly, “It’s just that I don’t understand Mr. Ford’s questioning, after all, even if I did do it, so what?”
His eyes were full of laughter, as if he didn’t know he had done something he shouldn’t have.
Edward Ford nearly gritted his teeth and said with hatred, “It was you!”
“It’s me.”
This time the man was quick to affirm.
Logan Brown lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on the motion of the sofa tapping”You took my wife and I used a little trickery to try to get you to return her, so I suppose that’s not too much to ask?”
Naturally he wouldn’t have thought to do so if he hadn’t done what he shouldn’t have done.
“You want to threaten me?” Edward Ford had a scowl on his face, “You think, by doing that, I’ll compromise? Dream on!”
At those words, Logan Brown stood up as well, a dark light passing through his eyes, “You are the one who is dreaming, Edward Ford, no matter how much you try to hide it, you have to admit that Elena Bush will never be your puppet, there are things you can threaten her with for a while, but not for the rest of her life! ”
Edward Ford shuddered and stumbled, falling back into his office chair.
His words hit him like a heavy hammer, bringing him to his senses, but not in any way willing to admit it.
The baby was temporary, the child would always grow up, and when it did, he would not be able to threaten Elena Bush, and she …… would leave him eventually.
Nor could he be sure that he would be able to convince Elena Bush perfectly in time that she would stay with him in good faith.
His reaction, no doubt, all fell on Logan Brown’s eyes.
A sneer flashed across his face, a cold look on his face, “Edward Ford, no matter what, I will make you understand that my woman is not mine to take away just because anyone says so.
What’s happening now is temporary and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop him from taking Elena away!
“Logan Brown, are you doing this, is it worth it?” He asked.
“What about you?”
Edward Ford froze, not expecting the words to be thrown back at him at once, and was unable to answer for a moment.
There was a silence before he gritted his teeth and said, “That’s my daughter, I’m keeping her with me, I’m not wrong, and I can’t be wrong!”
“Ridiculous to the core!” The man sneered out.
Edward Ford stared at him with a strained neck, not retorting.
Logan Brown withdrew his gaze, and his words grew colder, “Edward Ford, I’ll give you three more days, if you don’t return the person I want intact, I’ll use all my power to get her back to me!”
Edward Ford’s head felt as if he had been punched in the head, making him feel dizzy.
His assistant saw this and held his shoulders to prevent him from fainting.
Edward Ford tightened his grip on the arm of his chair and looked at him and suddenly said grimly, “Logan Brown, when you were doing this, did you think about the baby in Elena’s belly?”
