Orion looked at her. “Are you always so wary of me, treating me like a thief?”
“Hasn’t it always been like this?” Luna replied.
Orion’s lips curled up. “Luna, I love you, and that hasn’t changed. Did you know that?”
Luna felt something was off about him. “You know I don’t remember everything.”
“Even though you don’t remember everything, can’t you still hear some things about the past from others?” he hinted, referring to Luna hearing about her mother’s murder from someone else’s mouth.
“What are you talking about?” Luna raised an eyebrow.
Orion continued, “Do you know what your previous profession was?”
“What was my previous profession?” Luna asked.
“A forensic scientist,” Orion said. “We both graduated from the same university, and we fell in love there…”
“I’m tired,” Luna didn’t want to hear any more. She felt that Orion’s behavior today was also peculiar.
Orion ignored her statement about being tired and continued, “Our profession requires a certain level of sensitivity, especially when it comes to drugs…”
So he had added some medicine to the glass of milk he gave Luna. But that medicine was colorless and tasteless. If someone had handed it to him to drink, he wouldn’t have noticed anything either.
Suddenly, Luna felt weak all over. Her body became incredibly limp. She couldn’t even stand steadily. Orion reached out and supported her arm. “Let me help you to bed.”
Luna said, “No.”
“Don’t refuse me now.” Orion insisted as he guided her into the room.
Luna finally understood.
“The milk was spiked?” she glared at him angrily, “What do you want to do?”
Orion looked at her. “I want to keep you with me.”
“So you stoop so low as to drug me?” Luna felt as if she had been struck by lightning. “What kind of person are you?”
Was the person she used to love truly someone despicable, vile, and shameless?
Had she been blind?
Orion helped the weak Luna lie down on the bed. He sat by the bedside, looking at her. “I don’t know who told you about my mother hurting you, but I know your temper. You won’t forgive me, but I don’t want you to leave me…”
Luna sneered, “So you resort to such despicable means? Orion, let me tell you, your actions only make me hate you more. Do you know how disgusting you are to me?”
Orion was taken aback.
He disgusted her? He suddenly realized that what he had done was indeed wrong. How could he do this? He pressed his temples hard. He was so afraid of Luna leaving him that he resorted to such absurd behavior.
“Sorry, I’m so sorry…” he panicked and fled the room.
His despicable actions were directed at Luna. How could she see herself now? She would probably just push him away, right?
At the moment Orion left the room, Luna finally dared to breathe. She really thought that Orion would… She slowly closed her eyes, her shaken emotions temporarily masked.

Today, Freya received a call from the director of HY Research Center, asking if she had made a decision. The director would retire in a month or two. Freya said she would get back to him later. She hung up the phone and walked to the bathroom door, looking at the man washing his face. “Elijah, let’s put aside the wedding planning for now.”
Elijah looked up at her, a few strands of wet hair covering his eyebrows.
“I want to work.” Freya expressed her thoughts. She wanted to take over the director’s position.
The main reason was that she believed she was capable and could contribute to the domestic medical industry.
Elijah didn’t want her to go actually, since their two children were still young. Being a doctor was demanding. Besides, his own work was also demanding. Both of them were so busy, who would take care of the children? At least one of them should have some free time to take care of the family.
“Are you asking for my opinion, or have you already made up your mind?”
