“Yes, I’ll go find the technicians right away!” Evan exited the office.
He walked out quickly.
…
At their residence.
After Sacha left and Luna helped with some packing, everything was almost in order. Luna said goodbye to Freya, “I’ve packed everything up, so I’ll head home now?”
When Zane heard Luna say the word “home,” his eyebrows furrowed. He felt uncomfortable because Luna referred to her place with Orion as her home. Wasn’t she supposed to seek revenge? Why was she using such an intimate term?!
“Stay here and have dinner,” Freya said.
“Yeah, let’s have dinner here,” Zane chimed in, seizing the opportunity to agree.
After Luna lost her memory, she no longer had the same intimacy with Freya as before. Because of her dissatisfaction with Freya, Luna had been distant in her attitude.
“I should still go back. Orion might be waiting for me,” she deliberately made an excuse. Her main goal was to not stay.
But to Zane’s ears, it sounded different.
Orion was waiting for her?
Luna wanted to go back that badly?
She wanted to see Orion?
Why was she living with Orion like a married couple?
Luna’s rejection was already so obvious, and Freya didn’t want to force her, so she said, “I’ll walk you out.”
“I’ll do it!” Zane hastily interrupted, afraid that Freya would refuse, and pulled Luna along as they walked outside.
Freya was about to call Zane back, but she decided against it.
Outside the house.
Zane kept pulling Luna along, not stopping, not stopping. Luna struggled to free her hand, “Where are you taking me? Just say what you want to say.”
Suddenly, Zane stopped in his tracks, turned around, and stared directly at Luna without saying a word. Luna felt a tingling sensation on her scalp, “What’s wrong with you?”
“What’s wrong with me?” Zane’s eyes bulged with anger, “Out of the three sentences you said, two of them were about Orion. You kept talking so intimately about him, making me think that you love Orion and being with him is not just about revenge!”
“It is about revenge!” Luna retorted.
“No, you’re lying to me.” Zane, fueled by anger, couldn’t hear anything else, convinced that Luna had feelings for Orion. “Because you’ve forgotten the bad things he did to you, you’ve been deceived by his affection.”
“I haven’t forgotten, I know he wronged me, I know his mother tried to kill me. I’m with him now only for revenge. You have to believe me.” Luna pleaded earnestly. “Just calm down.”
Zane took several deep breaths. His mood began to calm slightly. In a slightly calmer tone, he said, “I’ve had a lot happen today.”
“What happened?” Luna asked.
“I accidentally killed someone, and now I feel terrible. I’m not trying to get angry, I’m just terrified.”
Zane’s voice was very low.
Luna comforted softly, “Don’t worry too much. Accidental killings can result in lenient punishments. You’re Freya’s brother, she may not have the power to save you, but Elijah will find a way.”
Zane lowered his gaze. He was still in a state of panic. Although he had a hot temper, he had a good heart. Now that he had committed the crime of accidental killing, he was extremely uneasy.
“It’s okay, I’ll help you too.” Luna reached out and touched his face, “Do you want me to have a drink with you? It might help you sleep better tonight.”
Zane looked up at her, “You’ve always understood my feelings, right?”
“I…”
Before Luna could finish her sentence, his head lowered, sealing her lips. Luna’s eyes widened. Her mind went blank! She momentarily forgot how to react. Zane reached out to hold Luna’s waist, but his neck was suddenly grabbed and then forcefully released. He stumbled back a few steps, almost falling. Once he regained his balance, he looked up at the person who had intervened!
