After dealing with things on the other side, Elijah hurriedly rushed back home. Unexpectedly, before he even reached home, he witnessed such a scene. He rolled up the car window and lowered his voice, “Drive.”
The driver immediately drove the car away. When he arrived home, Kai affectionately rushed into his arms and called him daddy. He lifted his son up and asked, “Did you miss me?”
Kai nodded vigorously, “Yes.”
Elijah asked, “How much did you miss me?”
Kai patted his chest and said, “So much.”
After saying that, he kissed Elijah on the face. Saliva smeared all over Elijah’s face. And there was a scent.
Elijah frowned, “What did you eat tonight?”
Kai tilted his head and thought, “Bread, and soup too.”
Elijah almost burst out laughing at his son’s antics.
“And what else?”
Kai thought for a moment and said, “I also had ‘stinky stinky,’ it was so sweet.”
Elijah, “…”
‘Stinky stinky’?
Linda heard and explained with a laugh, “It’s durian.”
Elijah playfully tapped his son’s bottom, “You almost made me misunderstand.”
Kai laughed and hugged his neck. Elijah carried him into the room to see the little treasure. Elowen had just put the baby in the crib. When she saw Elijah, her face lit up with joy, “You’re back.”
Elijah hummed in response, his gaze falling on the little treasure.
Elowen said, “He just finished eating and fell asleep.”
She placed the clothes and diapers she had removed from the baby in a basin, preparing to take them out to wash. Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, “A lot of things were delivered a few days ago.” Elowen smiled as she continued, “You went through so much trouble preparing all these things.”
“It’s nothing.” Elijah kissed his son’s cheek. The baby’s skin was tender, smooth, and incredibly soft to the touch.
“Freya gave birth to two children for me, so I should treat her well.” He said it calmly, but if one listened carefully, they could detect a hint of suppressed restraint in his voice.
Elowen didn’t notice it at all. She simply believed that Elijah would treat Freya well. Even if it was for the sake of their two children.
“Where is Freya? Why isn’t she at home?” Elijah asked.
“She said she went to the hospital to remove the bandage.”
Elijah didn’t say anything, but he couldn’t help but find it ironic.
Went to the hospital?
Or went on a date?
Even from a distance, it was apparent that the two of them were having a romantic time at that charming restaurant. Freya seemed quite happy.
Elowen muttered, “She’s been gone for a while now. She should be back soon.”
Elijah didn’t want to dwell on it, but upon hearing Elowen’s words, his heart felt heavy.
How long had she been gone?
She had been constantly saying she missed him. And then, while he was away, she went on a date with another man.
…
Freya finished her meal and was about to leave. Adam wanted to accompany her. But Freya declined, saying, “My driver is waiting outside.”
Adam smiled and said, “You look so happy. Your husband is good man, with a respectable status. Even if you were disfigured, he wouldn’t have minded.”
Freya only raised the corner of her lips lightly. But her happiness was hard to hide.
Adam chuckled, “I’m not married yet, but seeing you being so lovey-dovey in front of me, I can’t help but feel jealous!”
The two of them exchanged a few more words before parting at the entrance of the restaurant.
Freya went back. On the way, she asked the driver to stop at a fruit shop and bought some fruits before returning home. When she arrived home, she placed the fruits in the refrigerator’s preservation compartment. While going to see the little treasure, Elowen said, “Elijah is back. You should go up quickly.” As she spoke, she looked at the spot where Freya had removed the bandage and said, “The surgery was well done.”
Freya replied, “In another half month or so, I should be completely recovered.”
Elijah had told her that he would be away for a while during their phone call a few days ago, so she was pleasantly surprised to see him back so suddenly.
“I’ll go up then.” After speaking, she walked out of the room.
Freya hurriedly ran upstairs, pushed open the bedroom door, and saw the man standing by the window. She immediately walked over and hugged his slim waist from behind, “You’re back. Why didn’t you tell me in advance?”
Elijah was wearing a silky gray pajama, soft and smooth. Being this close, Freya could smell the faint fragrance of his shower gel on him.
Elijah turned around. Freya looked up, her eyes sparkling with stars, “Is it because you missed me too much that you came back early?”
