Orion was shocked when he saw Luna holding a stick in her hand. He never expected Luna to attack him from behind.
“Luna?” he said, confused.
What did she mean?
Orion couldn’t understand.
Luna immediately put on a frightened expression and stammered, “I, I wanted to hit Zane…”
Zane, annoyed, took advantage of Orion’s distraction and kicked him from behind. Orion fell to the ground, and Zane seized the opportunity to straddle him and throw punches.
Orion was dazed by the blow! He couldn’t retaliate for a moment. Inside the house, Evan watched the surveillance footage with a furrowed brow. “Shouldn’t we intervene?”
Otherwise, Orion might be beaten to death.
Elijah glanced at him. “Go break it up.”
Only then did Evan go outside. He pulled Zane off Orion and warned him, “If you lay another hand on him, I’ll kick you out!”
Zane, still furious, spat at Orion. During this whole ordeal of Zane attacking Orion, Luna stood by without moving, which puzzled Evan. He stared at Luna and asked, “Orion is being beaten up, aren’t you going to help?”
“I was scared,” Luna explained, almost heartlessly.
Evan couldn’t find a counter-argument, but he felt that Luna was indifferent to Orion.
“Let’s all go inside,” he said, and he entered first.
Orion was in pain all over but still held onto Luna’s hand. “Let’s go,” he said.
Zane stood at the back, watching Orion and Luna’s hands clasped together, his eyes red. Luna turned her head and saw Zane in such a state. Suddenly, something clicked in her heart. She could inexplicably feel his sadness. Zane met her gaze, about to approach her, but Luna looked away and held onto Orion, concernedly asking him, “Are you okay?”
Orion shook his head and said, “I’m fine.” With Luna’s concern, he didn’t feel any pain anymore.
Zane, upon hearing this, raised his hand but quickly dropped it again. He didn’t want to witness Luna and Orion’s affectionate display. He turned around, intending to leave, when Elowen called out to him, “Zane, Freya wants to see you. And we’re having dinner. Where are you going?”
Zane wiped his mouth and said, “I’m not hungry.”
“Even if you’re not hungry, come inside and take care of your facial injuries,” Elowen said.
Zane hung his head low and followed Elowen inside. She led him into the study, where Freya was waiting for him.
“Freya, what’s going on with Luna?” Zane asked.
“I asked you to come in because I wanted to talk to you about this. Luna has lost her memory. She doesn’t remember anything from before…”
“If she doesn’t remember, why is she with Orion?” Zane couldn’t understand.
“Luna was found by Orion. They were lovers before, and now that Orion is divorced, they naturally ended up together…”
Zane sneered. “This is ridiculous. Freya, you also support Luna being with Orion? Have you forgotten what Orion did to Luna in the past?”
“I haven’t forgotten, but they did have love and a foundation of emotions,” Freya explained.
“Baseless emotions!” Zane was furious that Freya supported Luna and Orion being together. “Freya, you’ve disappointed me. And also, the job that Evan arranged for me, I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle it. Thank you for your kindness.”
With that, he stormed off.
Freya frowned. “Zane…”
She stood up, intending to chase after him. But because she didn’t want to lower her head, she accidentally bumped into the nearby bookshelf, causing a diary to fall to the ground. As she bent down to pick it up, Elijah walked in.
