In the hospital, Freya woke up.
Elijah handed her a glass of water and asked softly, “Are you hungry?”
“Not hungry. Did you manage to get the medicine?” Freya inquired.
“Yes,” Elijah replied. “I had Evan acquire the medicine, and I’ll hand him over to Jack later.”
Elijah had specifically looked into the function of the medicine, which primarily targeted and disrupted memory nerves in a person. Freya wanted Thorne to forget all the grievances between them, to give him a fresh start. It seemed like a good idea; or they needed to guard to prevent any further trouble while keeping him locked up.
“Jack is seriously ill. If Thorne is by his side at this time, it would benefit his treatment,” Freya suggested.
This idea was inspired by Luna. Forgetting certain things would prevent holding grudges. Elijah didn’t want to discuss anything related to Jack.
“Handing him over to Jack is just to avoid complications.”
There wasn’t much more thought behind it.
Knowing he didn’t want to discuss it further, Freya deliberately changed the topic. “Find a job for Zane, okay?”
With the company gone, she didn’t want Zane wandering around aimlessly.
“I’ll take care of it,” Elijah assured.
Elijah’s phone suddenly vibrated.
He answered the call.
Ronan’s angry voice came through the other end, “Elijah, are you playing dirty?!”
Elijah raised an eyebrow and couldn’t help but sneer. “Wasn’t it you who started with the low blows?”
“Aren’t you just as bad as me?!”
Elijah couldn’t be bothered to listen and hung up the phone.
Ronan couldn’t believe it. “He hung up on me?!”
The assistant said, “We planned to collaborate with Jack, hoping to rescue Thorne Silverton and gain some favor with Jack, while also providing Elijah with a rival. But Elijah managed to capture Thorne again. It’s really not worth it. And you also fell victim to a scheme, with people being poached from the company…”
“That’s enough!” Ronan was already fired up. Hearing the assistant recounting all these things only fueled his anger. He had never been able to win against Elijah. He thought he had the upper hand when it came to the matter of the child, but he had lost.
“I know Elijah’s wife is in the hospital. Shouldn’t we target her?” the assistant suggested.
Ronan glanced at his assistant. “That woman isn’t easy to deal with.”
“She’s just a delicate woman…”
“You don’t understand,” Ronan replied, having suffered losses because of Freya, he knew better.
“Why is she in the hospital? What happened?”
“Plastic surgery. I also found out that she underwent the surgery for an upcoming wedding.”
“A wedding?” Ronan mused.
It made sense. Freya and Elijah were legally married, and they even had two children together, but not many people knew about their relationship. He understood Elijah’s thinking.
“We can’t find any flaws in him on a regular basis, but there must be many people involved in a wedding…”
Ronan’s eyes darkened. “Doesn’t Thorne have a woman by his side who loves him?”
“Yes,” the assistant quickly responded. “Can we use this woman?”
He smirked. “Since they’re getting married, I should send them a gift.”

Freya asked Elijah to leave.
“What for?” Elijah felt puzzled.
“Go buy me something to eat,” she said.
Elijah furrowed his brow. Wasn’t she just saying she wasn’t hungry?
He got up and walked out, closing the door behind him. Instead of leaving, he secretly observed what she was up to.
