Before Freya could respond, the doctor spoke again, “If I remember correctly, your name is Freya, right?”
Freya stared at the male doctor, unable to recall where she had seen him before, even after several seconds.
“Do you know me?” she asked.
The doctor pretended to be hurt by her lack of recognition, saying, “You really do forget people easily, don’t you?”
He introduced himself, “I’m Adam Jackson.”
Freya suddenly realized, remembering that he was the son of the neighboring family. He had changed quite a bit since then.
“Didn’t your family immigrate?” she asked.
“I came back this year, but my family is still overseas,” Adam Jackson replied.
“Jeff mentioned that he wanted me to take care of a patient, but I never expected it to be you. I was curious how you knew him.” He said in disbelief.
Freya hadn’t expected such a coincidence either. “Jeff and I used to work together at Mede Heart Research Center.”
Adam Jackson looked astonished. “You’re so young, yet you made it into Mede? That’s impressive! Jeff was able to get in because of his girlfriend.”
Freya humbly said, “It was just a stroke of luck.”
“You already look great, so what adjustments do you need?” Adam Jackson asked jokingly.
Freya removed the scarf covering her face. The scars were exposed.
Adam Jackson was shocked, “How did you get injured like this?”
Freya didn’t answer but instead asked, “Can the scars be surgically treated? How long would it take?”
Adam Jackson examined the scar that extended from her neck to below her cheek. As an expert in this field, performing this surgery was a piece of cake for him.
“It’s not a problem in my hands. It might require a little recovery time since the area is not small. Are you asking about the recovery time for any specific reason?” he inquired.
Freya replied, “Well, I’m getting married, so that’s why I’m considering it.”
“You’re getting married? Congratulations! However, no matter how soon, a recovery period of over a month is still required. Will it delay anything?” Adam Jackson asked.
Freya answered, “No, it won’t.”
She still had over a month before the wedding. Elijah was planning the wedding, and there were certain things that required time for arrangements.
“Do you have time for the surgery tomorrow?”
Freya nodded, “Sure, that works. Thank you for today.”
“Just saying thank you is too polite. If I can restore your former beautiful appearance, you can treat me to dinner.” He said jokingly.
Freya felt embarrassed by his words. “I will definitely treat you.”
Adam Jackson still had other patients, so Freya left first. As she walked out, she couldn’t help but marvel at the fact that she had encountered someone she knew from the past. She stood by the roadside, hailing a taxi. Suddenly, she saw someone in front of her.
It was Luna.
“Can I talk to you?” she asked.
Freya replied, “Sure, just you?” She glanced around but didn’t see Orion.
“I was buying something at the pharmacy across the street when I saw you standing here, so I came over,” Luna explained.
Luna had been wanting to find Freya. Since she didn’t know where Freya lived and didn’t have any contact information, she didn’t want Orion to know about their meeting. Today was a coincidence, and she wanted to seize the opportunity. They found a coffee shop. As soon as they sat down, Luna spoke, “I want you to tell me about Orion and his mother, what kind of people are they?”
Freya hesitated before responding, “Why do you ask?”
Orion’s mother didn’t like Luna and she treated Luna poorly. Freya couldn’t easily reveal this. Luna had just returned, and Freya was afraid of saying something wrong that could cause conflict between Luna and Orion.
“Orion wants to take me back to his house, but I don’t know his family, nor do I know what his mother is like. How should I handle the situation?”
Luna had overheard the conversation between Freya and Orion that day. Her amnesia was a result of Orion’s mother trying to kill her. She was grateful that she didn’t die, but she lost her memory of the past. She asked Freya this question as a way to test whether Freya was truly her good friend. If Freya was genuine and they had a close relationship, she would surely know how Orion’s mother had treated her before. She just wanted to confirm whether Freya was worth trusting.
Freya furrowed her brow, unable to understand Orion’s decision to bring Luna home.
“I’ll go to the restroom first.” Freya got up and went to the restroom, taking out her phone to call Orion.
The call connected quickly.
She wasted no time in questioning him, “You want to take Luna home? What are you thinking? Have you forgotten how your mother treated her in the past?”
