Elijah’s expression remained calm and unruffled, as still as a stagnant pond. He played with Freya’s hair, twirling it around his long and slender fingers. “Tell me, what should we name our little son?”
Freya turned to look at him. She had no idea what he was thinking. She couldn’t guess his thoughts at all.
He smirked, “Why are you staring at me? Do I look good?”
Freya didn’t continue the topic, after all, Elijah clearly didn’t want to talk about it, not saying a word.
“Not at all, you’re very ugly.” She said with a serious face.
Elijah pulled her into his embrace, pinching her chin, forcing her to look at him. “Be honest.”
Freya playfully replied, “I’m speaking from the bottom of my heart.”
Elijah leaned closer, “Tell me, what’s ugly about me?”
Freya stared at Elijah’s face, her eyes spinning and sparkling, his features distinct, deep eyes, a high and straight nose, every aspect of his face was handsome. She deliberately went against her heart and said, “Your face isn’t good-looking, your eyes aren’t good-looking…”
As she spoke, she felt embarrassed and laughed.
Elijah held her in his arms. “Don’t get involved in this matter, I’ll handle it.”
Freya looked at him. “I’m worried about you. We’re the ones who suffered, if it wasn’t for Thorne’s outrageous actions, we wouldn’t have had to deal with him. As for the news, don’t you have the ability to suppress it?”
Elijah didn’t care about such things.
“Let them say what they want to say.”
Freya stood up and looked at him seriously. “It’s not your fault, why should you be misunderstood?”
She couldn’t stand it. And she didn’t want people to talk about Elijah.
Elijah laughed. “Why are you so worked up?”
“I’m just concerned about you…” she realized that she had spoken too directly, feeling a bit embarrassed, she pursed her lips. “You ignore it, but rumors can be dangerous.”
Elijah’s heart skipped a beat, a deep smile formed at the corner of his lips. He liked this side of Freya, indulging her, he said, “I’ll have someone take care of it.”
“Successful people care about their reputation and engage in charity work to build their reputation. But you, you let others manipulate it.” Freya complained.
Elijah held her close. “I understand.”
He didn’t like to engage in empty gestures. Freya was right, many people engage in charity work to build their reputation, but they pay their employees low wages and sacrifice others for their own gain. The world of charity is deep, some donations can be tax deductible. Elijah believed that running a successful business not only meant making money but also ensuring that the people working for him could benefit.
“You’re a doctor, how do you know about these things?”
“Am I not concerned about you?”
Elijah’s gaze was intense, his voice low and deep, “I see.”
He knew that she had him in her heart, foe which he was very happy.
Just then, Freya’s phone vibrated in her pocket. She took out her phone and answered the call. It was Zane calling.
“Freya, I’ve been discharged from the hospital.”
“Okay, do you have a place to stay? Do you need me to arrange something for you?”
“No, thanks. I have a place to stay. But after we sold our house, I took some of your old stuff. Do you still want it? Should I throw it away?”
Freya thought he had gotten rid of everything related to the Stone family.
“I’ll get them.”
She remembered there were a few books she used to love when she was in school.
“What stuff?” Elijah asked.
“My old stuff, at Zane’s place. He’s been discharged from the hospital, so it might be at his residence. I’ll go and get it, see if there’s anything useful.”
“Let Evan go and get it for you,” Elijah said.
Since they were already home, Freya nodded. “Okay.”
Evan went to get Freya’s things.
The two of them went back inside. But as soon as they entered, they bumped into someone. Seeing that there was an extra person in the house, Elijah’s expression darkened instantly.
