The woman widened her eyes, “How am I lying? She is my daughter, what are you trying to pick on?”
Orion remained calm, “I dare to say this because I have evidence.”
The woman panicked and quickly went to find her husband. They whispered to each other inside the house. Orion didn’t rush them. Instead, he waited outside. After a while, the couple came out.
“Who are you?” This time it was the woman’s husband speaking.
Orion spoke frankly, “I stayed at your guesthouse because there is someone I know in your house. I came here to investigate her identity. If you cooperate and tell me the truth, I won’t give you any trouble. But if you continue to deny and refuse to be honest, don’t blame me for being impolite.”
This couple had just discussed it inside the house. Chelsea was indeed not their biological daughter. And now, someone had come looking for her. Even if they wanted to cover it up, they couldn’t. Everyone in the village knew that a stranger had arrived at their house. As soon as they asked, they would find out.
“Can you tell me who you are?” the woman’s husband asked.
“Her loved one.” Orion replied.
The woman sighed, “We rescued her from the sea, and when she woke up, she couldn’t remember anything. The doctor said her brain had been deprived of oxygen for too long, causing damage to her memory nerves.”
Orion’s hand, which had been hanging by his side, slowly clenched.
“So you’ve been raising her in your house all this time?” His words were not meant to blame.
In fact, it was more of gratitude. If it weren’t for this couple, Luna might have truly died.
The woman said, “… Yes, she forgot her own family and didn’t even know her own name, so we decided to keep her with us.”
The woman paused for a moment, “Actually, both my husband and I had our own selfish motives. Seeing that she couldn’t remember anything, we wanted to keep her by our side.”
She choked up, “My husband and I only had one child, but… he drowned in the sea when he was twelve years old. We almost couldn’t go on living at that time. We couldn’t recover for many years. Later on, we thought about having another child. But when we went to the hospital, we found out that I had a health issue and couldn’t have children anymore. We lost the chance to have children in this lifetime. We thought we would just live like that for the rest of our lives. But we didn’t expect to encounter Chelsea.”
“It was raining heavily on the day we saved her. My husband’s surname is Ramirez, so we decided to call her Chelsea Ramirez. We treated her like our own daughter, living with us. That’s why we didn’t report to the police or try to find her family…”
Orion said, “Thank you for being honest with me, and thank you for saving her, taking her in. If there’s anything you want, as long as it’s within my power, I will try my best to fulfill your wishes.”
“Ah, we have no children of our own. Running this guesthouse provides us with enough to eat and drink. There’s no one to inherit our property. We don’t need anything that’s of use,” the woman sighed.
Orion pursed his lips and remained silent. The woman was right. But he couldn’t help them by bringing back their child.
“Take her with you. You know where she works, right? Go find her yourself!” After saying that, the woman and her husband went back inside the house.
Orion left a business card, “If you need any help, you can contact me.”
No one responded. But he knew that the people inside heard him.
On the way home from Chelsea’s workplace, Orion intercepted her. And he showed her the photos of her from her school days. These were the photos of Luna that Orion had kept all this time. When Chelsea saw the photos, she said, “Oh, this girl looks a bit like me.”
