Orion turned around and saw Chelsea, but he didn’t try to avoid her.
Smiling, he said, “I didn’t do anything.”
Chelsea glanced at the departing car.
“You coming to my house definitely means you have some ulterior motive,” Chelsea squinted at him. “I’m not renting our guest house to you anymore. I’ll refund you right away, and you need to leave immediately.”
Orion continued to smile. “What do you mean by that?”
“Are you a fool? Can’t you understand human language?” Chelsea was angry. “If you refuse to leave, I will call the police.”
Orion wanted to stay, but he couldn’t force himself to stay when she was so determined. Given her temper, Chelsea would really call the police. Orion didn’t want to escalate the situation. He could only say, “Okay, I’ll leave.”
“Just as I thought. Once I mentioned calling the police, you got scared. Who knows what kind of tricks you have up your sleeve. Get out of here!” Chelsea rolled her eyes at him.
Orion looked at her with interest. “You dislike me so much. Is it really because I made an advance on you that day on the boat? I don’t think it’s necessary.”
“What’s necessary? Murdering someone?” Chelsea asked.
Orion’s expression changed instantly. His face turned slightly pale. Luna was killed by his mother and the Holt family. Luna had suffered such a fate because of him. Looking at Chelsea now, it was like looking at Luna. Orion felt overwhelming guilt.
“I’m sorry!” After saying that, he turned and walked away. His steps were unsteady. His guilty conscience trembled.
“A guilty conscience betrays itself.” Said Chelsea.
Orion heard this and quickened his pace as if he was escaping.
…
Freya took care of Kai and put him to sleep. As she was about to go upstairs, she heard a knock on the door. She walked over and opened it. It was Evan.
“I need to see Mr Silverton.” Said Evan.
Freya let him in.
“Please have a seat in the living room, I’ll go get him.” Said Freya. She went upstairs and opened the bedroom door. She saw Elijah, who had just finished showering, walking out of the bathroom. He was wearing a gray silk pajama set that looked sleek and soft on his tall and fit figure. With damp hair falling on his forehead, his eyes appeared even deeper and clearer. He had a towel in his hand, drying his hair as he approached her and asked, “Is Kai asleep?”
“Yeah,” Freya replied. “Evan is here, waiting for you downstairs.”
Elijah handed her the towel in his hand. “I’ll go down.”
Freya took the towel and went to the bathroom.
Downstairs.
Elijah walked over. Evan stood up from the couch. “Mr Silverton,”
Elijah sat down, leaning back in his seat and gesturing for him to sit down as well. He got straight to the point. “What’s the matter?”
Evan took a seat. “I looked into Ronan. That child is indeed his biological son. The woman he married used to work at a bar and had a few nights with Ronan. She didn’t say anything until she got pregnant, and then she forced Ronan into a marriage. Ronan married her for the sake of the child.”
Now, Elijah was even more certain in his heart that Ronan’s appearance was deliberate. Ronan must have wanted to hide something, which was why he brought up his own son.
“Evan, you said Ronan and I are old acquaintances. Shouldn’t we invite his son to come to my place as well?” Elijah asked.
Evan hesitated for a moment. “Kidnap his son?”
Elijah glanced at him. “What do you mean by kidnapping? I said invite.”
Evan lowered his gaze. “Yes, invite. I’ll take care of it right away.”
Elijah nodded.
After Evan left, Elijah sat for a moment before getting up, and he went upstairs. Freya was busy organizing Kai’s clothes. Elijah had someone prepare them, but there were too many. The clothes had been washed but not yet put away.
“You’re still not sleeping?” Elijah walked over and sat behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind.
Freya said, “These clothes need to be folded.”
Elijah rested his chin on her shoulder. “You can leave these to Linda.”
“As Kai’s mother, I owe him too much. Of course, I have to do it myself.” Freya continued with her task.
Suddenly, Elijah’s phone, which he had left on the bedside table, rang. He released Freya and walked over to answer the call. A voice came from the other end, “I’ve found out everything. That doctor confessed too.”
