Chapter 413 No Mercy

The voice sounded like Dina’s. There was a momentary change in Freya’s expression, but she quickly regained her composure. Dina must want to show off in front of her by meeting at this time.
“You mentioned the address.”
If the secretary wanted to play her game, Freya would be there to watch.
“Banks Café.”
“I got it.” Freya responded.
Sivin looked up, swallowing the food in his mouth, and said to Freya, “We’re here for you, so go ahead if you have something to do.”
Freya nodded. After finishing their meal and cleaning up the table, she said to everyone, “You’ve all worked hard these past few days.”
Maddox Greyson’s team had heard about Freya’s return from Mede Heart Research Center with the data, and they admired her. They thought it was noble of her, as a woman, to have such a deep sense of righteousness. They were all willing to help her.
“You don’t have to be polite with us.” They all said in unison.
Freya felt grateful, but she didn’t say anything on the surface. In her heart, she planned to give everyone a generous bonus to reward their hard work once the medication research was successful. They were being polite, and she couldn’t just enjoy their help and convenience for free.
When she left, Freya took the lunch boxes and threw them in the trash bin. Then she got in the car and went to the café.
When she arrived, she got off the car and the driver waited inside. She walked in. Dina was already there, leaning against the window, leisurely sipping her coffee, looking quite content.
Freya adjusted her expression. Her complexion wasn’t good to begin with. These past few days had been exhausting, with her working on the medication in the lab while also taking care of Kai and observing his condition. Not to mention, she hadn’t even completed her postpartum recovery yet, and she was going through all this. It would be strange if she looked well.
Dina saw Freya and gracefully set down her coffee, sarcastically saying, “It’s only been a few days, and you’ve become so haggard. Could it be because you’re sad and upset about the news of Elijah and me getting married?”
Freya knew what Dina wanted now, and she would play along.
“You’ve taken everything that belongs to me. Are you happy now?”
Dina shook her head. “That’s not enough.”
Freya curled her hand under the table, forming a fist. “What else do you want to do?”
“What I want to do, of course, I can’t tell you. If I told you, it wouldn’t be fun anymore.” Dina had the upper hand and smiled smugly.
Freya had to be on guard. Someone who had been hiding by Elijah’s side for years wouldn’t be so easily dealt with. Fortunately, the medication she had been developing was making progress, so she didn’t have to put all her hopes on herself. For Freya, as long as her son was healthy, no matter how big the problem, it wouldn’t be a problem.
“You called me here today to show off to me, and I’ve listened and now I know that you’re going to marry Elijah. So, can I leave now?”
Dina seemed indifferent, as if she didn’t care about anything. “Do as you please. I called you here not just to see your defeated and miserable face, but also to ask you, how long has it been since you last saw your brother?”
A hint of darkness gathered in Freya’s eyes. As expected, it wouldn’t be anything good.
“Did you capture him?” Freya asked.
Dina smiled, the implication clear.
“He dared to threaten me. Do you think I would let him go?” Dina didn’t hide her anger, as well as her desire for revenge.
Freya knew that Dina was a ruthless person. Even Evan Drake, who had been with her for a long time, had suffered at her hands. She wouldn’t show any mercy to Zane either.
“I’m considering letting him go.” Dina called Freya over, of course, not just to show off in front of her, but more importantly, to make Elijah give up on Freya.
She knew that marrying Elijah wouldn’t guarantee her complete possession of the man. Even if she had him, she wouldn’t have his heart. The only way was for Freya to change her mind to disappoint Elijah. That way, Dina would have an opportunity to enter Elijah’s heart. When she captured Zane, she had already planned to use him to blackmail Freya.
“What do you want me to do?” Freya knew that Dina wouldn’t easily release Zane. She must want something from her.
“I know that Elijah agreed to marry me mostly to save your son, not because he loves me. But if you find another man and tell Elijah that you no longer love him, then I will consider letting him go.”
Freya sneered inwardly, “You’ve thought it through quite well.”
Dina smirked triumphantly, “I have no choice.” She had to consider every aspect of the plan. After all, it wasn’t easy to possess Elijah. Having been by his side for so many years, he had never even looked at her properly. It was clear that she wasn’t his type. Dina was well aware of this. She had carefully considered her request to marry Elijah. Freya had married Elijah first and then developed feelings for him. She wanted to follow the same path. During their time together, Elijah would surely discover her goodness. If at that time, Freya sought solace in another man’s embrace, Elijah would be moved by her devotion. Dina believed this plan was perfect.
Freya stood up.
“Wait.” Dina called out to her. “I’ve done some investigation and I know that Zane isn’t your biological brother, but your bond is strong. I want to know, would you let him die?”
Freya’s expression remained blank. “As you wish.”
Dina laughed, “Only when you have another man will I have a chance to completely possess Elijah.”
Freya gave her a meaningful look and turned to leave. She got into the car and told the driver, “Go to HY.”
The driver started the car, but the route didn’t seem to be heading towards the building of HY.
“Go to HY,” Freya spoke up, her voice a bit louder. She thought the driver hadn’t heard her.
The driver said, “Mr Silverton wants to see you.”
Freya fell silent.
Earlier when Freya was talking with Dina, the driver received a message from Elijah.
Soon, the car arrived in a bustling area and came to a stop. Freya got out of the car, looking around but not seeing Elijah. She was about to ask the driver when suddenly a figure emerged from somewhere and grabbed her hand. She turned her head and saw a sharply defined profile. Elijah held her hand and led her towards an alley.
Freya followed his steps. When there was no one around, she spoke up, “Aren’t you afraid of being seen by your secretary when you come looking for me like this?”
She emphasized the words ‘your secretary’. There was a hint of defiance in her tone. She understood the reasoning. It was just that Dina’s pushiness inevitably made her resentful. Elijah encircled her slender waist and his deep voice echoed in her ear, “Are you angry?”
Freya couldn’t help but retort, “What do you think? She just met me and told me to find another man, or else Zane wouldn’t have a good ending. So, do you think I should go find another man now?”
