Freya was stunned.
Elijah still had droplets of water on him, a towel wrapped around his lower body, and his exposed skin was covered in red rashes.
“What’s going on?” she was taken aback.
“Why don’t you tell me? What kind of medication did you put in my bath?” His brows furrowed, and the rashes were itching.
Freya spoke into the phone on the other end, “I’m busy at the moment, I’ll contact you later.” She hung up and immediately walked into the bathroom to check the medicine inside. She scooped out the medication that could cause skin allergies from the water. But she had never put that in the water.
“Don’t scratch it,” Freya cautioned, “Hold on, I’ll get the antidote…”
She was about to leave when Elijah swiftly grabbed her neck, his eyes filled with hidden anger, and a chilling aura emanated from him. “Did you do this on purpose?”
Freya struggled to breathe, instinctively protecting her stomach. “Mr Silverton, I have no reason to harm you. There’s no benefit for me in doing so. Please trust me, there must be a misunderstanding.”
Elijah remained indifferent. The grip on her neck continued to tighten. Freya’s face was turning red.
“Please… give me a chance to prove…”
Knock, knock…
At that moment, the door suddenly sounded. Elijah suppressed the hostility in him, slowly releasing his grip. “You better not have done anything, or I’ll make sure you have nowhere to be buried!”
Freya took deep breaths, calmly responding, “If I wanted to harm you, it wouldn’t be rashes on your body right now, but your life would already be gone.” She spoke with confidence.
Elijah narrowed his eyes.
The door sounded again, urgent this time. Elijah walked over to open it.
It was Ronan at the door. He heard Elijah’s voice during his call with Freya, so he was certain that Freya was with Elijah now. He decided to knock on the door and give it a try. The door opened, and his eyes glanced into the room. As expected, he saw Freya standing in the living room.
“Elijah, have you sunk so low? You’re interested in someone as ugly as her?” Ronan exclaimed.
“Bang!”
The door suddenly slammed shut, causing a gust of wind. The door nearly hit Ronan’s face, just a few centimeters away. He stood frozen for a minute before snapping back to reality, pounding on the door with all his might. “Elijah, open the door!”
“Elijah, open the door, hey!”
Ronan was frantically knocking on the door because he didn’t want Freya and Elijah to be alone together. No matter how ugly Freya made herself look, she was still Freya. What if Elijah found out?
Suddenly, the door opened again. This time, it was Freya, not Elijah. Ronan immediately put on a smile, about to say something. Freya gave him a stern look; in front of Elijah, it was better not to let him know that they knew each other. Ronan quickly caught on to the message she conveyed.
“Oi, who are you?” asked Ronan.
Freya closed the door and headed towards the elevator. As Ronan was about to follow, Evan walked out and glanced at him, warning, “Don’t try to meddle in everything.”
Ronan smiled, “I wouldn’t dare.”
Evan couldn’t be bothered with him. Evan followed Freya into the elevator. Soon, they retrieved the medicine. And Ronan was still standing at the door.
“Dr. Jane, you go in first.” Said Evan. He had to keep an eye on Ronan outside to make sure he didn’t act out of line.
Freya glanced at Ronan, said nothing, and walked briskly into Elijah’s room. Elijah’s neck was already scratched from his grip. Freya intervened, “I told you not to scratch.”
Elijah glared at her, “Now go soak in the water and experience this itchiness.”
Freya sighed.
Well, if itchiness could be ranked, with level twelve being the highest, the itchiness caused by this medication was definitely a level twelve. Freya took out the medicine and said, “Applying this will provide relief.”
Elijah didn’t respond, instead, he watched her with caution. Clearly, he didn’t trust her. Freya applied a bit of the medicine to her own skin. “See, nothing happened. I told you, there’s no benefit for me in harming you.”
Elijah let his guard down slightly.
Freya applied the medicine to him. It was cool, and the itchiness instantly subsided on the skin that had been treated. Freya applied the medicine diligently, not noticing that the fake mole on her nose had loosened. Elijah unintentionally raised his gaze and caught sight of it.
