Calista seemed to have grasped a significant handle, reveling in her triumph. “I can guarantee that you’re nothing more than a fake woman who knows nothing, pretending to be a judge. You’ve wasted the efforts of the contestants and the time of the parents. I’d love to know, how did you climb up the ladder?”
Her words were loaded with insinuation.
“What else can she achieve? Look at her fragile appearance; she must have used her body to climb up…” Before the person could finish their sentence, Freya’s gaze shifted towards them, sharp and piercing, causing them to falter.
Even the male judge who had been favoring Freya was taken aback by her sudden change.
Freya, who had previously appeared meek, now exuded a strong and forceful presence.
“You say I can’t dance. What if I can?” Freya challenged.
Calista couldn’t believe it. “You can’t possibly dance. If you can, I’ll clean the entire sports center with my bare hands.”
Freya, with a meek nod, asked in a soft voice, “Do you keep your word?”
Seeing Freya’s demeanor, Calista thought she was feeling guilty and becoming more confident. “Of course, everyone here can testify.”
Some in the crowd echoed, “Yes, we can testify.”
Most were secretly hoping for a miracle, hoping that Freya was qualified so that their children wouldn’t have to compete again. Some parents, however, wished for another chance for their children who hadn’t performed well.
“What song do you need?” The male judge had seen through Freya’s previous pretense; her meekness had to be an act.
Feeling confident enough to make such a statement, she must have had something up her sleeve. Freya chose a song she was familiar with.
This left Calista somewhat dumbfounded. “You… You dare to dance?”
“Why wouldn’t I?” Freya unbuttoned her coat, revealing a dress suitable for dancing underneath.
Calista was bewildered. Was she prepared for this? How could her clothes be so fitting unless she planned it?
“You…”
The male judge stopped Calista and said, “This competition can’t be disrupted. Let’s see if Miss Stone can dance.”
His words echoed the sentiments of the crowd. Freya moved to the center of the competition area as the music started, and all eyes were eagerly watching. While Freya might not have been the most passionate about dancing, her years of martial arts training made dancing natural for her. As the music played, she gracefully moved from slow to intense, showcasing each move with precision. With her excellent figure and beautiful appearance, she became a visual delight.
Even the male judge couldn’t help but stare, and Elijah, sitting in the corner, was equally captivated. Witnessing her dance in person, he was astonished by her skill. Her confident demeanor was truly enchanting.
The atmosphere in the venue became electrified as everyone’s attention was focused on Freya. Calista, on the other hand, went from shock to disbelief, her face turning from pale to an infuriated shade of red.
After Freya finished dancing, everyone believed in her abilities. With a certificate in hand and a remarkable dance performance, it was clear she wasn’t the unqualified and non-dancing person Calista had portrayed her to be.
“It seems like someone deliberately wanted to make things difficult for Miss Stone,” the male judge suddenly spoke, and the crowd joined in agreement. Calista, who had been so assertive earlier, was now the one who had created this embarrassing situation.
Her internal frustration was almost unbearable, but she had to maintain her composure.
“You played a trick on me, Freya. We’re not done!” Calista gritted her teeth.
Freya, looking directly at her, responded confidently, “Likewise.”
“I remember you said that if I could dance, you’d clean the entire venue with your hands.”
Calista was shaking with rage, her face turning from white to liverish. “It was intentional, so it doesn’t count.”
The large sports center was vast; she couldn’t possibly clean it herself. Moreover, she couldn’t afford to lose face like this. How would she be perceived in her workplace?
She had initiated this plan to embarrass Freya, but it backfired spectacularly.
Several times she had the urge to rush over and strangle Freya.
Freya approached her, “I can spare you from cleaning the venue, as long as you honestly answer me one question.”
“What question?” Calista Winters, seeing another option, thought there might be room to maneuver.
“Did you send messages to Zane Stone? Did you get Yolanda Steele out of prison and hide her away?” Freya asked, revealing the purpose of her visit.
Calista looked bewildered, “Who is Zane Stone? Who is Yolanda Steele?”
Freya squinted, observing for any signs of deception, “Don’t play dumb.”
“Why would I play dumb?” Calista genuinely seemed clueless, “Who are they? What’s the use of catching them? ”
Since she didn’t admit it, and Freya couldn’t find any flaws on her face, she was momentarily at a loss.
“Since you don’t admit it, then please fulfill your promise and clean the entire venue. Everyone here can testify; you wouldn’t want to be seen as untrustworthy, would you?”
After saying this, Freya walked away from the venue and told the staff, “It’s getting late, don’t waste time; let the students finish their last round of competition.”
Even a fool could see that something was amiss now. It turned out that Calista Winters wanted to set up someone else but ended up being outsmarted.
Calista’ heart was on the verge of breaking, but she had to maintain a brave front. She had become the butt of this accidental joke. Her face was so red that it seemed like blood might drip from it. Her hatred for Freya intensified, but she had to endure for the time being! After the competition, Freya handed her scoring card to the male judge, “I have to leave now; thank you for handling this.”
The male judge was very willing, “Don’t worry, leave it to me.”
After thanking him, Freya turned and left.
As she was about to exit through a side door, Calista appeared out of nowhere and blocked her path, “Freya!”
Freya wasn’t surprised by her presence but calmly looked at her, “Calista Winters, I apologize for initially using you. But given the chance, I would do it again, especially since Thorne Silverton captured my child. You hold a grudge against me, so when Zane Stone tried to harm my child again, Calista, we are irreconcilable!”
Although Calista denied it, Freya felt it was her. After all, she harbored resentment for being manipulated by her. Considering she was also associated with Thorne Silverton, she had enough reasons. Apart from Calista, Freya couldn’t think of anyone else who would go to such lengths to harm her.
“I didn’t harm your child. Spare me the false accusations, and I will remember this grudge.”
“Before seeking revenge on me, clean the venue floor first.” Freya didn’t waste any more words on her, brushed past her, and headed towards the exit.
Calista Winters, infuriated and humiliated, felt that Freya had disgraced her.
And indeed, it was a humiliation.
“Freya!”
Calista Winters no longer cared about her image; she just wanted to tear Freya apart.
She lunged forward, grabbing Freya’s hair like a shrew. Freya anticipated that she might get angry, but she didn’t expect her to behave like a street scrapper, pulling her hair so forcefully that she almost fell.
At this critical moment, a dark figure rushed forward, embracing Freya. One hand firmly circled her waist, and the other pressed down on the location where Calista had grabbed her hair. With a forceful kick, he pushed Calista away.
Calista stumbled several steps backward and finally fell to the ground. She looked extremely disheveled, her thighs and buttocks in pain from the fall. The kick to her abdomen intensified the agony, making her feel like her intestines were tied in knots. Her face turned pale, and her features contorted.
Freya, looking up, saw the man standing beside her. His well-defined facial features and stern expression sent a sharp gaze towards Calista. A relaxed smile spread across Freya’s face, and her tense body finally eased.
The man at the corner, observing this scene, approached with determined strides.
