CATRIONA
I stared wide-eyed at the saliva rolling down my bare skin, fear flooding in as the memory of Jayden’s nearly lifeless body came rushing back.
What is going to happen next? Am I going to end up in the same half-dead state as Jayden was? How many days will it be? And what about the child inside me? I instinctively touched my belly, filled with trepidation at the thought of my unborn child facing the same fate as me.
How unlucky am I?
Gabriel was immediately by my side, attempting to communicate with me but his words were incomprehensible, though I could sense his anxiety and anger.
I’m scared he would kill another person.
Based on Gabriel’s account of what the saliva did to Jayden, I expected an immediate reaction when it came into contact with me. However, it took longer for the effects to manifest. Gradually, I felt my larynx becoming blocked, making it difficult for me to breathe.
Desperately gasping for air, I clutched at my throat. Gabriel’s grip was strong, and his rough yet concerned voice filled the air, urging the witches to take action before he resorted to violence.
Save me, please. Don’t let anything happen to my child. I wailed, intently at that spiritual old man.
unexpectedly, I heard the deep, echoing voice in my head saying,
“WE ARE HERE, CHILD.”
Unexpectedly, my throat relaxed, and I gasped for a deep breath. I tightly gripped Gabriel’s skin as I coughed. The witches fell silent, except for Gabriel, who anxiously asked if I was alright.
Pumpkin, you’re scaring me. Talk to me.
“Are you alright?” he anxiously asked, his eyes searching mine for any signs of distress.
I looked up at his handsome face filled with worry and for a moment got lost in it. The way he looked at me with that caring worried face made me want only him for life. I want to make a family with him. He’s the one for me. I said but then the memory of him killing Sandra flashed back. I jerked my hands off his body.
Are you okay? He asked again.
I nodded weakly. “I… think so, ” I managed to say, my voice shaking. “I don’t know what happened, but I… can breathe again.” I said not wanting to bring up the voice in my head that I assume it’s the old man’s voice and with a tiny belief that it was his help I am breathing fine.
The witches exchanged bewildered glances, their expressions a mixture of disbelief and curiosity. It was as if they had witnessed something beyond their comprehension, something that challenged their dark or whatever powers they have. They had expected to witness my demise, not this unexpected twist of fate that also left me wondering how it happened.
One of the witches, a tall figure with piercing eyes, stepped forward cautiously. “What sorcery is this?” she demanded, her voice laced with both fear and intrigue. “How did you break free from our saliva?
I glanced at Gabriel, who stood steadfastly by my side ready to eliminate whoever laid their hands on me.
Suddenly, the old woman crouched down and grabbed both of my hands, attempting to lift me while saying, “You’re coming with me!” However, Gabriel intervened, preventing her from taking me. He swiftly seized the old woman and effortlessly tossed her towards the others, as if she weighed nothing. With a yelp, the poor woman fell to the ground
NO ONE IS TOUCHING HER. He snarled.
As Gabriel turned to me, the old woman with a snarl sent a jolt of magic to Gabriel that made him fly across the stream.
“GABRIEL!”
I screamed, petrified. I was furious with him, but I didn’t want to see him get hurt. The witch, with furious eyes, glared at Gabriel, who had managed to get up on his two.
Don’t hurt my-
The witch interrupted me with a second magic blast, causing Gabriel to be thrown into the trees. I gasped in horror as his body collided with the trees, his figure disappearing momentarily amidst the foliage. The witch’s magic blast had been swift and powerful, leaving me stunned and helpless. My heart raced with fear.
Without wasting another moment, I collected myself and rushed towards the fallen trees, my feet stumbling over the uneven ground. Panic filled my veins as I desperately searched for any sign of Gabriel’s whereabouts. Finally, I spotted his crumpled form lying motionless at the base of a particularly large tree. Ignoring the branches that scratched and clawed at my skin, I dropped to my knees beside him. His face was contorted with pain, and his breaths came in shallow gasps. Tears welled up in my eyes as I gently cradled his head in my trembling hands.
“Gabriel, please,” I whispered, my voice choked with emotion. “Stay with me.
His eyelids fluttered open, revealing a glimmer of recognition in his eyes. “I’m.. okay, pumpkin” he managed to say, his voice strained.
Just… just a little winded. He added with a smile.
This is not funny, Gabriel. I said, tears blinding my eyes.
The witch still followed us in the trees ready to continue with her unending magic attack. I wedged myself between the witch and Gabriel but he still pulled me behind him. “I don’t give a damn fuck to what you do to me, old woman, “he growled” but I won’t let you lay a hand on my mate.” You’ll have to kill me first for that to happen.
Another familiar witch appeared, glancing back and forth between the old witch and Gabriel. “That’s enough,” she declared. Then, she turned to me and informed me, “Clara is asking for you.
Lead the way” I said quickly as I stepped out of Gabriel’s shadow, and although he tried to hold my hand to stop me, I shook my head
at him. “I have to help that woman. She owes me,” I explained.
Alright, but let me tug along-
The witch held my hand, intertwining our fingers with Gabriel’s, and swiftly teleported us into a massive, cave-like place. It was breathtakingly beautiful, adorned with various plants that brought life to the surroundings. The air was filled with the refreshing scent of morning flowers.
The walls were made of shimmering crystals that emitted a soft, ethereal glow, casting a magical ambiance throughout the entire space. As we walked deeper into the cave, the plants grew more vibrant and exotic, their leaves and petals glistening with dewdrops.
Gabriel too, seemed spellbound by the beauty that surrounded us. It was as if time had stood still, and we were transported to a realm where nature’s wonders thrived in their purest form. The witch opened an invisible door that made my mouth hang open like a dinner plate.
The witch untangled Gabriel’s hands from mine and motioned for me to go inside. “No one will touch her,” she assured Gabriel. As I entered, my gaze immediately fell upon Clara, who was lying on a bed covered in a strange white substance I couldn’t quite comprehend. She noticed me and managed to form a faint
smile. Eager to approach her, I took a step forward, but the old witch blocked my path, scrutinising me before asking, “How do you plan to help her?” I exchanged a glance with Clara, and she encouraged me to explain.
I believe that whatever happened to her is somehow connected to her mother, so we have to find her mother. I stammered nervously as the old woman’s intimidating glare shifted. The room fell into silence as I anxiously stood, frozen under her intense gaze. I couldn’t help but fear that she could
unleash her magic on me at any moment. Instinctively, I protectively covered my belly.
After a long and intense moment I began to experience a slight headache and dizziness. My tongue felt heavy, making it difficult to lift. Before I could fully comprehend what was happening, I found myself engaged in a conversation with the witch, although it wasn’t me doing the talking.
You and your family must reconcile with the daughter you abandoned for the sake of your
granddaughter’s happiness. The child growing in your granddaughter’s womb will be her last. Time is running out. After saying all that, I walked to the door, opened it, and headed towards Gabriel.
“Are you okay, pumpkin? Is everything fine?” he asked. Instead of replying to his question, I responded in a commanding tone that made him furrow his face.
Your Alpha friend is on the verge of losing everything, with his people dying. He may need your help during this difficult time. I said to him and then wondered if I was referring to Jayden and if he was in danger.
I turned to the witch who had followed me outside and instructed her to gather her family. This powerful alpha man will safely take you to your daughter.
Hold on a fucking moment, what is happening
here? I haven’t understood a single thing. Gabriel asked, growing agitated and confused.
Before anyone could respond, a sudden chill coursed through my body, much like a wisp of smoke causing me to lose consciousness.
