CATRIONA
How much did you hear? I muttered.
“Everything! Jayden mindlinked with me.
I got on my feet and sauntered to my mates. If they heard my story I am scared I might not own a single one. Jayden’s face remained neutral that gave me a little hope but for Gabriel’s, tells it all that I’m not his anymore.
Hey baby! You’re alright? Jayden asked, his hands on both my cheeks. I was reverted to only Gabriel whose unpredictable eyes never left mine.
Catriona, look at me baby. Let me get you out of here and we will talk whenever you’re ready. Jayden reiterated.
I felt my heart changing from its position when Gabriel walked away. Jayden stopped me immediately as if sensed what I wanted to do. And that was following Gabriel and earnestly entreating him from breaking up with me.
That’s not necessary. Jayden said as he took me toward his car. The woman shadowed us and nudged my hand.
Don’t let your painful past ruin the bright future that’s ahead of you girl. Knott your every painful past behind you and move on. She opined.
I will try. I replied grievously.
You’ve come a long way and
pulled through. I believe you can still do it…
This woman’s authentic smile and words comforted me and gave me the confidence that I somehow didn’t have or was looking for. She patted my shoulder and excused herself. My eyes went back to Gabriel Unintentionally. He was on the phone but when he saw me he hung up and began walking our way. I think I was overthinking. He still loves me. I convinced myself.
What happened to your phone? He asked in that stiff tone that made me worried sick about my relationship with him. He’s always gentle when talking to me. Your grandmother tried to call you but your phone wasn’t going through. Your brother wants to see you. He said. Jayden’s expression changed.
I avoided Jayden’s questioning glare as I promptly asked Gabriel to take me to my brother. The eagerness I used was not just for seeing my brother but was mostly for having the alone time with Gabriel so that I can get a clear picture of where our relationship stands.
Come with Jayden, he knows my house. He uttered as he walked away toward his car. His arrogance was killing me more than the news I just learned. I decided to mindlink with him…
“Gabriel why are you being like this to me? “Are you ending it with me, after a great moment we shared together?” The only response I got from him was getting into his car and driving away.
Jayden lured me in his car as carefully as he could.
I promised myself not to talk about anything until you’re ready. But your brother being at Gabriel’s house is bothering me. I want to know how he ended up at his house.
I restated the whole story to him.
Why didn’t you call me? It’s perturbing to think of my girlfriend asking help from another man other than her boyfriend.
I’m sorry. I won’t give any excuses. I said.
I don’t want to be a jack especially in the condition you’re in but when we reach there I will take the three of you back to my house. He deadpanned.
I remained silent.
I slid the window down and poked my head out. The tears in my eyes couldn’t be controlled anymore so I let them out but the wind evaporated them. Everyday I pray for a miracle to see you again. Mom. One minute can’t be enough if i meet you once again but if it’s the only option the miracle could bring I’d take it gratefully. I said on the verge of drying tears.
Everything will be okay , baby. I will make sure it does for you. For us. Jayden said.
Aren’t you going to break up with me? I asked, my head out.
Of course I won’t. Why would you even think of that?
I turned to him and gave him a faint smile. I’ll come clean now. And I will respect your decision.
I’m in love with Gabriel too. I thought he was with me too because he said we were mates. After hearing about my past he broke up with me. And, we had sex last night. Jayden’s jaws clenched, his muscles tensed.
Aren’t you going to say something? I asked.
He’d been stealing glances through the side mirror severally until he stopped the car.
I didn’t get the chance to ask anything when he ordered me to stay in the car! I’m going to find out why that cab is following us? He graved as he stepped out. I peeked my eyes through the side mirror too and saw it. My heart was beating abnormally as he reached the cab and pulled its door open. He pulled out the man from the driver’s seat and grabbed him by his collar. I couldn’t hear what they were saying but the poor man looked very scared. Not to Jayden’s murderous look. Should I go there and try to save that man before things get out of control? I opened the passenger door and stepped out. What if it’s a trap? The thought pulled me back in the car. I went back on using my source of information, “the side mirror! I saw Jayden looking inside the cab for a minute and then started walking back to his car. He looked so pissed that it suppressed all over him. Watching Lauren getting out of the cab caught my attention. There was no need for me to stay in the car so I moved my ass over.
You have two minute to deal with her. Jayden exclaimed.
Before I could ask Lauren anything she Snapped at me.
What’s with the men you walk with? Are they all trained to chock whoever they get their eyes on?
Well, why don’t you tell me what you’re doing here to start with? I asked.
Well.. I ran away from home. She uttered.
“Wait, What? why? I asked.
You promised to set me to one of them. So I wanted to make sure you fulfill your promise by following you to where you live.
Lauren!!! I Snapped back. You almost got the innocent man killed. When did I even promise you that? I asked, agitated. When will you stop tormenting me? Get back in that cab and go back home because I don’t have a….
I’m not going anywhere catriona. She stated, paid the man and told him to leave.
Hey beautiful! Lauren and I were startled by the man that stood across the road. Where did he come from? We both asked. He was handsome and vigorous but a little bit older. I lunged for Lauren’s hand to get us into the car but what we saw froze us in one place. Jayden’s wolf was sprinting toward the man. Lauren started screaming, blurting out the word “wolf! Wolf! Wolf! The only question that was in my head was “why is Jayden’s wolf attacking that man?”
My question dried up on my lips, my eyes popped out of my head when I saw the stranger ‘s lineament altered as he hastenly eschewed Jayden’s attack. I know I’m an amateur when it comes to the supernatural world, but anyone could tell that-that man is a vampire. Jayden’s wolf just became aggressive. It made another attack and stung its teeth into the vampire’s flesh.
SHIT! The vampire cursed out in pain.
You’ve grown up strong. I underrated you. He said.
What looked like a moment of silence between their intensity didn’t last because Jayden’s wolf crouched backwards and dug its claws into the ground. His fur bristled and his ears erected. He snarled aggressively and pounced at the vampire. Jayden’s wolf clonked down before reaching the vampire.
Jayden! I screamed.
He shifted back in his human form and made a loud whimper. Lauren gave me a terrifying look before tumbling down unconscious.
That was very close. The vampire guy said and took steps forward to where the unconscious Lauren and I were, licking his teeth.
Back off! Jayden snarled, making me recoil.
He tried to stand but failed. He looks like he’s in so much pain. The vampire looked back at Jayden and to me.
What a disappointment. I expected you to have good taste in women. I’ll just fix the mess we both made. He went down on his one knee and opened Lauren’s eyes using his fingers making them glare in his and briefly murmured something under his breath. He stood up towering himself over me. Nice to meet you young lady. He said, offering me his hands for a shake.
When I refused, of course I couldn’t dare, he took them into his pants pockets amusingly. He looked back at now standing Jayden.
At least she’s smart. She must be a good choice. He smugged. It was nice seeing you again. Son! He said. With that he sprinted away, leaving me in a trance. Did he just call him son? A vampire with a werewolf son! What in the supernatural world?
Jayden’s soft touch pulled me back.
Did he touch you? Are you hurt anywhere? He asked, not hiding the panicking in his tone.
Jayden, I’m fine. Are you? He hummed in response.
We hitted the road again until we reached at the house. At his house. Someone will attend to her when she wakes up. He said, talking about Lauren who’s sleeping soundly in the back seat.
He led me to our shared bedroom and sat me on the vanity so that we were on the same level. He had that look of fear, pain and anger merged together. He held both my shoulders, moved his head close to my neck and deeply sank his teeth into my skin. The act caught me by surprise that I didn’t react to the stinging pain.
The pain will last a few seconds. He said.
Now that we are one, I will break some walls for you. He said.
I didn’t understand what he meant by saying that but I unknowingly found myself in another house where I saw a young boy being held by a man that was forcing him to look at the two dead people. I held myself tight from tripping down when I saw that vampire man that called Jayden his son.
I looked closely at the crying and terrified boy who had similarities with Jayden.
This is Jayden!
Am I in his memories?
