Chapter 25
.
The iron bars of the prison suddenly get kicked in, breaking with the impact of the kick of the vampire king. With one fluid movement, he grabbed her by her neck and had her pinned against the wall, the Hawthorne necklace glowed after his contact with it but he didn’t care. He had her in a chokehold and the effect of the Hawthorne pierced her entire body with fresh hot pain that burned her like molten lava. At this point, she has lost her will to live. She just wants to die and be free from the wrath of the vampire king.
” Tell me why Diana is in a coma. Why?!” He roared at her, almost deafening her with the volume of his voice. She could only shake in response. She doesn’t have an answer to his questions and she couldn’t even think of one.
” I don’t know. I don’t know ” She cried, her throat hoarse from all the crying she had done before. In her entire three hundred years of existence, she has never been in pain so much. Not even when Decanal murdered her entire coven in cold blood did she shed so many tears in her life, not even when she held the body of her sisters in her hands and swore revenge on the wicked wolf? But after spending more than a month inside the vampire king’s prison, she knew what fear and anguish felt like for the first time.
” I am asking you again and after this? I won’t ask anymore” With a low icy tone contrasting the hot and loud voice he used earlier he asked again.
” Why is my mate in pain?!”
She shook her head as she pleaded for mercy silently. The mercy she knew he wouldn’t give her, the sound of her blood rushing to her ears faded out his threats. She only wanted a breath that won’t bring that much pain to her body for just a moment but wishes don’t get granted every time. She muttered another strength she didn’t realize she had and yelled at him.
” I do not know! I’ve been here since and there is a fucking Hawthorne on my neck! How can I know?!.. I didn’t do anything” She sobbed as fresh tears spilled out of her eyes, he wouldn’t look at her, he didn’t care about her tears. All he needed was answers which she wasn’t providing. If Diana dies before he finds the Redmoon pack, he will kill everyone starting from the Alpha and especially a certain Beta who can’t keep his hands to himself. He won’t spare anyone even if that would lead to chaos in the council, why would he care? They are not helping him with his quest.
” Have mercy.. please” The witch begged and then he looked down to see her bruised face and tear-filled eyes. His mouth curled up into a smirk.
” Did you just beg?” He chuckled and she nodded slowly. Her pupils were devoid of the evident purple, they were almost black as she slowly lost her magic.
” Please.. ”
” Did she beg?” He asked after a deep breath, releasing his hold on her neck. She blinked at him in confusion. ” What?”
” Did she beg when you were separating her wolf from her body? Knowing she would die? Did she?!” He shouted yanking her to a corner. A loud crack resonates on the impact of her shoulders against the wall. She cursed herself for casting an immortality spell on herself until her magic faded out completely she would never die but she would be in pain if injured. He knew this and he was taking his time to inflict on her the worst of pain.
” Oh, she did not? Then you do not have the right to beg me for your life. But you can pray that she returns safely to me and the longer she takes, the more your sufferings will increase”
” I will do anything. Please” Ignoring the pain from her right shoulder, she knelt and begged but he only laughed out loud. The type of sinister laughter that sends chills down the spine.
” You said it. You can’t reverse the spell. did you forget or were you lying when you said that? You said the only way to break this spell is if she remembers my name and invites me into the pack house herself so what in the world can you do?” he said after his laughter. She sighed as she remembered. It was true, nothing could be done to reverse the spell and she would never be able to get out of the hell he put her in unless Diana regained her memory. She blamed herself for casting the prevention spell on her if someone had told her his name. She could have remembered.
She laughed as she watched his retreating figure, it was funny to her because she took all measures to prevent Diana from ever remembering anything but now, Her life depended on that memory she used her hands to wipe. She could only hope for a miracle. A young vampire guard hurriedly locked the iron bars Immediately the king left the prison. He left hurriedly too.
” No food or water for her today,” Darryl said to the young guard who nodded immediately.
” Your Highness” Erica, clad in a short sultry gown, her lips painted a bloody red lipstick that accentuated her tempting lips. She was barefooted, patiently waiting for Darryl in his bedroom. She whispered with a low sultry voice that resurrected Darryl’s anger immediately.
” I will suggest you leave immediately Erica,” He said without looking at her. But he could sense her presence immediately when he entered the room. If she heard what he said, she didn’t act like it. With a heightened speed as a vampire, she was in front of him immediately trying to touch him but Maurice’s voice stopped her before she could.
” Unless you want your neck in between Decanal’s teeth you can go ahead. I don’t need to explain further” The king’s advisor entered after his king as quietly as possible announcing his presence with a well-defined threat to the annoying woman.
” Decanal? As if she would ever come back” Erica laughed slightly and shrugged her shoulders. She made the mistake of looking at Darryl’s face, the intensity of the heat burning in his eyes made her withdraw her hands from his body as shivers ran down her spine involuntarily. It was at that moment she knew she messed up.
” You do not know when to stop huh?” Taking a step towards her, he said in a whisper. His voice was low and frightened. She took another step backward in fear.
” I have only been tolerating your stinky attitude because I promised your father that I would look after you. But I don’t think I can allow your little wings to flutter anymore before you think of flying.”
She pleaded with eyes as he had her cornered against the wall. The murderous gleam in his eyes was more than enough to tell her that her life was now dangling before her eyes.
” I’m sorry. I was wrong” She croaked out but he ignored her.
” You will not enter the palace unless you are summoned. You will move out of the mansion right this moment, I don’t want you near any of those premises else you will punished greatly. And lastly, Disrespect or say things about my mate once again and I will have your heart crushed between my palms right away”
Her eyes widened as he finished his words. Where would she go? She was only safe in his house, being a weakling she was shunned by other Vampires, only the king took her in and turned her properly. So she had given him her heart and promised to be by his side forever until his mate showed up. She hated Diana so tragedy struck, she was more than happy and wouldn’t stop trying to get his affection.
But even with his blessings, other vampires still can’t stand her. It would only be a matter of time before they rip her apart in the outside world. She wished he killed her instead, that would have been better than being a rogue Vampire. What if she ran into a pack of rogue wolves? He had always protected her and now she lost it because of her too much eagerness and pride.
” Your Highness” She cried but he had his back turned instantly, already facing Maurice who almost pitied Erica’s condition but sealed his mouth shut. He knew better than to provoke his king at that moment.
” Throw her out” The king ordered and Maurice bowed grabbing Erica, he dragged her out of his room immediately.
Darryl removed his jacket before lying on his bed, he closed his eyes as he remembered how Diana used to be beside him every night before her brother’s plot. Suddenly his head started hurting, something or someone was demanding access to his mind. He ignored it at first but when the pain became annoying to him, he removed his mind block but it led him to his dream plane immediately.
He gasped at the sight in front of him. Decanal stared at him through her red eyes that mirrored his as she licked her paw nonchalantly, Diana emerged behind the wolf with a smile plastered on her face.
“Your Highness” She grinned at him like she always did whenever she addressed him that way.
