” Are you okay in there Diana?” Howard’s voice jolted her out of her thoughts and cut off Decanal’s voice in her head.
” Yes I’m fine” She yelled back, opening the restroom door before stepping out to meet Howard’s worried face that was waiting for her outside. She decided to bribe him with a kiss on the lips. She tipped on her toe and placed a full kiss on his lips but his response to her kiss almost took things too far. He kissed her with so much emotion that she thought he was pouring all of him into her but sadly she cannot accept him not until she knows everything that is happening at least.
Decanal huffed and grumbled in her head annoyed at the full make-out session, but Diana ignored her petty whine as she allowed herself to be kissed by Howard.
” Oh, my poor eyes!” Corris’s voice screeched behind them. They separated from each other instantly. Howard muttered a string of curses under his breath while Diana blushed hard in embarrassment.
” You guys should get a room, please. You can’t be oppressing unmated wolves like us” The Gamma whined like a young pup which annoyed Howard more.
” Corris Amari Williams! If you don’t get your ass out of here in the next two seconds!” Howard growled out, his eyes flashing gold; Diana knew his wolf had already taken over. The Gamma only raised his two hands in mock surrender as he walked out of the corridor with a smirk on his face.
” Asshole!” Howard muttered but Diana only blushed. Before he could think of continuing from where he stopped, she already slipped out of his embrace with an excuse fully ready on her lips.
” Sorry, my cousin is a little bit…” He apologized but she was already out of his reach. With one extended arm, he dragged her back trapping him in embrace once again.
” Where do you think you are going?” He whispered, his mouth dangerously close to her ears. She cursed inwardly, she only meant to peck him on his lips not release the sexual demon inside him.
” I need to get Brittany. You heard what the Alpha said about my dress and the preparation for the crescent ball” She said tugging the sleeve of his shirt. He hummed softly, his chest vibrating against her as he blocked his attention from her excuses. He was in control again, he won the dominance and Diana was glad. Human Howard was easier to reason with than his wolf.
” No! Not today. We have somewhere to go after breakfast remember?” Howard said kissing her temple. Decanal snickered in her head and she almost cussed out loud, she quickly imagined the lake again and froze it. She got Decanal’s message clearly and was already formulating how she would sneak into her brother’s office but what she doesn’t want or need is Howard’s presence or Decanal messing with her head at the moment.
” Where?” Confused, she asked but he pouted. He looked hurt that she didn’t remember why he asked her to dress nice.
” I asked you to dress nice so I can take you somewhere after breakfast remember?” He reminded her. Her mouth formed an o as she remembered their agreement before coming to the pack house. Who can blame her for not remembering that? She has a lot on her mind and Decanal messing around with her was not helping. She suddenly missed the vampire but brushed the feelings aside.
” So where are we going?” She asked immediately he swept her into his arms once again. She made a mental note in her to find Brittany later. She relaxed into his arms, she could get used to him carrying her around if she didn’t have to walk.
” You will find out when we get there” He answered with a full smile on his face. As they got out of the corridor, they passed the Alpha’s office and Decanal’s words rang in her head.
” I know where the key is. It’s in the Alpha’s office. The third row on his bookshelf, inside a big black book…” “Later,” She said in her head as they walked away from the large oak doors.
Howard carried her out of the pack house along the pack farm where the old werewolves greeted them cheerfully. But she only hid herself in his chest away from everybody’s gaze. Using his heightened speed, he took the same route Brittany led her to the other day but far from where the two women stopped to talk. He went deeper into the forest until they stopped at a river. The sound of the river calmed her a little but the moment Howard put her down gently.
A big black wolf with red eyes flashed through her mind. The wolf was covered in blood and it growled with an overwhelming malevolent intention. Diana’s breath hitched in her throat, there was no doubt; that the wolf was Decanal but the feral bloodthirsty look on the wolf took her back for a moment.
” Do you like it?” Howard asked bringing her back from her thoughts. She composed herself quickly, taking a look at the natural surroundings. The clearing before the river was beautiful, a perfect picnic spot. She liked the tall trees the most as she imagined climbing them with her hands or paws.
” No. I love it.” She said with her mouth still open in awe.
” You loved climbing trees a lot and after that, you would soak yourself inside this river in your wolf form. I brought you here to see if this place would help with your memories” He said sitting down on one of the large stones beside the river. Here comes the confusing Howard. Actions like this made her wonder whose side he was, hers or Leonard’s. If he was siding with Leonard, he wouldn’t bring her to a place that would help her bring back her memories. Since the goal is to make her forget everything in the first place. She was happy he did that but she still doesn’t trust him.
” Can you tell me about my wolf?” She asked him as she sat down on her lap laps while searching for honesty in his eyes.
” Three centuries ago. A powerful wolf was born, she was the daughter of the Alpha king. She shifted into her wolf at the age of five, something which was very uncommon since werewolves only shift when they are sixteen. The Alpha king knew something was special about his pup but still loved her anyway. That was the first Decanal, The majestic black wolf with red eyes.
Rogues panic at the mention of her name, she showed no mercy to her father’s enemies and even the witches feared her.”
” What happened to her?” Diana asked softly. He adjusted her on his lap as he played with the strands of her hair before continuing his story but another voice narrated it in her head as another part of her memory opened in her head. The vampire in her dreams was narrating the story to her instead.
” Everyone was afraid of her. Not because she was powerful but because he was more wolf than human and that means she only follows her animal instincts instead of reasoning with her human part. It made her stronger though. It doesn’t help that she can control wraith wolves, dead wolves that fight at her command. She won many wars in favor of the werewolves and even her father was afraid of her, so he asked the witches for help on how to make her weaker or balance her human part with her wolf counterpart.
Even though he knew that the witches hated Decanal more than any other race, She had killed many of them without batting an eyelid, and to them, it was an opportunity for revenge. The Alpha King Henry knew something was amiss at the ritual but played along because everything would only work out in his favor. He sold his daughter out to her greatest enemies just because he was insecure. Instead of performing a ritual that will balance her with her human part, they separated her from her wolf instead and during the scuffle, they split Decanal in half. The princess died in the process since the biggest part of her had been removed but not without promising the witches that she would be back with Decanal” The Vampire king finished his story with a frown.
” That is painful. How can her father do that to her?” Diana asked as her vision morphed back to the present.
” Because he was insecure I guess. He was afraid his daughter would overthrow him one day” Howard replied shrugging his shoulders.
” So am I like a reincarnation of Decanal?” she asked but he shook his head negatively.
” Well, half of Decanal was inside you, and the other half lives in the palace of the Alpha king”
” That makes it two different wolves? Was the abilities split in half too? Or do they share different ones?” Diana asked but he only sighed. He wasn’t supposed to tell her much.
” Cassie can’t shift currently just like you so it’s hard to know. The only thing peculiar about her is the wraith that responds to her commands Everytime, no one knows what Dyrr is capable of doing on the battlefield but the Decanal inside you was bloodthirsty and feral and somehow you knew how to tame the wolf. Honestly, I don’t want your wolf to come back” he confessed sincerely.
