” Yes, I am Decanal,” The voice said with an unreasonable amount of bitterness. A wave of hatred washed over Diana as she felt the heat of the wolf’s emotions. And she knew well who those emotions were directed to, The Alpha, her brother.
” How? He asked me to find you but you have been here the whole time?” She thought but only a bitter chuckle left the wolf’s mouth as she heard Diana’s voice.
” yes, I have been here, imprisoned away from you. I was separated from you in the most excruciating manner you can ever imagine. The pain was too much for your body, you were in a coma for three years. If I were an ordinary wolf I could have died or withered away but guess what? I am Decanal, and it will take thousands of scums like your brother to get rid of me.” The wolf let out another chuckle as she replied to Diana with pride in her voice.
” What did he do?” In a low angry tone, Diana asked. Her face was already pale and as white as a sheet as the words of her wolf confirmed her suspicions about Leonard but she had to know what he did. She stopped Howard from feeding her as she had lost appetite. She gave him a fake smile and stood up from his lap, making an excuse that he needed to use the restroom. Howard was a little bit suspicious, she went to the restroom before they left their house but he shrugged it as a woman’s problem instead. The Alpha teased him about the possibility of a pup as Diana made her way to one of the pack restrooms with the help of an Omega. Howard only smiled but said nothing about the subject. His mind was on what he heard from Diana earlier. He hoped nobody else heard it. Could it be?
He shook his head, there was no way Decanal could communicate with Diana at all. The feral creature was locked inside a portrait and hidden inside a locked storage room in the pack house, away from anybody’s reach. It was done by Kiona, one of the strongest witches on earth so there is no possibility or else.
” Alpha, any news about Kiona? She has been gone for so long.” clearing his throat, he dropped his cutlery and asked the Alpha who raised his eyebrows at the sudden question.
” You know how Kiona is. She can never be in one place for a long time” The Alpha replied after a long thought. His good eye stared at Howard trying to see why he suddenly asked the question.
” But don’t you think it’s quite strange? Even if she wants to disappear for a while. She always leaves a letter or a hint of where she is going but we have heard nothing from her for the past few months” Corris chipped in and Howard nodded his head in agreement. The only person who seemed to be oblivious to their conversation was the head of pack warriors who continued eating since he didn’t understand them.
” Do you think she has been caught by the vamps?” Howard muttered away from Jake’s hearing. The Alpha only laughed at Howard’s words.
” It’s impossible. Kiona is pretty strong. She knows how to take care of herself” Leonard said waving the stupid statement off. How can someone capable of trapping and sealing off one of the most dangerous wolves in the werewolf’s history be captured? It is impossible. Kiona was very strong and capable of many things and he had never thought she would have a certain weakness but she does. Leonard just doesn’t know but the vampire king does since he has lived longer than him.
” Should we try and contact her? In case Decanal escapes?” Howard asked again but the Alpha only became annoyed dropping his fork as he tried to control his anger.
” Decanal can never escape! The wolf is weak. You all saw how I brought her to her knees with silver?” Leonard growled out but Howard refused to be convinced. Something is going on with Diana and he has a hunch that it has to do with her wolf.
” We can never be too sure. We have seen her succumb to bloodlust in the past but we still don’t know the full extent of Decanal’s power. Only the Alpha king knows” Howard stated still maintaining his calm expression in front of his livid Alpha. That is one annoying thing about Leonard, he gets angry too quickly to reason with anyone. Anything that poses a threat to his authority as an Alpha is enough to rule him up. The war with the Vampire king wasn’t really about revenge for his parent’s death but a way to make both Diana and Decanal weaker than him and he won. He remained the strongest wolf in the pack but what if Decanal returns?
” The Decanal inside Diana was the weaker one. Just the bloodthirsty part of the one in the legends. You remember the Beta king’s sister?” Leonard huffed out putting his raging anger aside to prove his point.
” Cassie? The missing one?” Corris asked and the Alpha nodded. Many wolves were already leaving the grandhall leaving only their rulers with their argument.
” Yes. Her wolf Dyrr is the other half of Decanal. Extremely strong and feral. Cassie is more wolf than human because of Dyrr and that makes her stronger. But even she could get kidnapped by rogues, so why would the half-Decanal be a problem for us?” The Alpha boasted but Howard only nodded.
Meanwhile, in the restroom, Diana has all the time to converse with Decanal without the knowledge of the overconfident Alpha and her mate. The wolf continued to laugh hysterically in her head. She was listening to the entire conversation between Howard and the Alpha. Diana wondered what was so funny.
” stop laughing and answer my question. What did my brother do?” Diana asked silencing the laughter immediately.
” calm calm my dear. I was just listening to the funniest thing I’ve ever heard in my life” The wolf replied through a wheeze of laughter. Diana even wondered if that was possible. Can wolves even laugh?
” yes I can laugh.” the wolf replied as if listening to her innermost thoughts.
” How?” Diana asked but the wolf only replied happily.
“I am Decanal the only wolf that can talk fully in wolf form. I was too powerful the entire werewolf race feared me and they had to split me into two. The other half of me is currently missing so for now I’m the only wolf that can talk in wolf form”
Diana nodded as she digested the information but it suddenly occurred to her that they had already stalled from the original conversation. The cheeky wolf was trying to distract her from the information she needed.
” Come on Diana. I don’t have to do that. If I hide things from you, how will you free me from my prison, get your memories back, and reunite with our mate?” The wolf barked through her mind and she visibly relaxed thinking about what she said.
” And why should I trust your words?”
” Because I am your wolf and I won’t sit still until I sink my teeth into your brother’s neck” She growled. Agreeing with the wolf, Diana breathed out before she spoke.
” Okay tell me what I need to know”
” Before I tell you. You must do something for me.” Decanal sighed and Diana hissed in annoyance.
” What?! Do you realize I’ve been gone for too long?”
” Don’t shout at me that way little human. You have to free me from this prison and I will show you instead. Find a way to open this door”
” I don’t even know how. I thought we were trying to be discreet here. How can I open the door with my brother’s knowledge?” She grumbled angrily. The wolf was silent for a while before she resurfaced again.
” I know where the key is. It’s in the Alpha’s office. The third row on his bookshelf, inside a big black book…” the wolf said but was cut off by a knock on the door from outside. Howard’s voice followed the knock, he sounded worried.
” Are you okay in there Diana?”
