Brendon smiled again. He was already handsome, and when he smiled, he was even more dazzling than the stars on the big screen.
Ranita stared at him for a moment. “You’re still smiling!”
“Sit down first, let me see.” Brendon pressed her to sit down and checked her forehead. “You’ve got a bump.”
It must hurt, for sure it’s swollen!
Brendon got some ice for her. Ranita didn’t let him help, so she applied it herself for a while, and the stinging pain slowly subsided.
“Let me see your heel.”
Ranita hid her foot behind. “It’s okay, it doesn’t hurt much anymore.”
But the next second, Brendon squatted down and reached for her ankle. The back of her heel was also red, but compared to her forehead, it was better.
Brendon was very familiar with this apartment. He went to get the first aid kit and helped her apply some medicine before checking her forehead.
After icing it, the situation improved a lot.
It wasn’t as red anymore, but there was a hint of bruising.
While applying the medicine, Brendon said, “You have such strength, next time, use a little more force when you hit.”
“I’m not stupid…” Ranita retorted.
“If you’re not stupid, why did you bump yourself like this?” Brendon’s words left Ranita speechless, and she felt her eyes getting red with anger.
In the end, she could only manage to say, “It’s none of your business.”
Brendon looked up at her, his dark eyes with a hint of orange warmth, warmer than usual.
Ranita’s heart raced as she avoided his gaze, blinking her eyes and not daring to meet his.
“What are you looking at?”
“You’re the mother of my child, how can I not care?” Brendon chose his words carefully before speaking, “I’m not that heartless.”
Just the mother of his child?
Ranita pursed her lips, feeling a lump in her heart.
Seeing Ranita’s unhappy expression, Brendon added, “Although we’re divorced, we’re still Ayaan’s parents, there’s no need for us to be so stiff with each other.”
Brendon wanted to make amends.
But Ranita suddenly turned cold, saying in a chilly voice, “Thanks for earlier.” With that, she bent down and wiped the beer off his feet, “I need to rest, you can leave.”
Brendon sensed her change in mood.
His own heart was in turmoil.
Did he say something wrong?
“Go ahead.” Ranita said, limping to the bathroom and closing the door behind her, the sound of water came from inside.
But the door remained closed.
Brendon watched for a while before leaving. He saw the photo, with a red background, and him and Ranita, the only photo he had ever taken with her like that.
Brendon stood in the corridor for a while.
He didn’t sleep much in the second half of the night, vaguely recalling the first time he saw Ranita many years ago.
Ranita was beautiful, unforgettable once seen.
He remembered Ranita standing next to Wyatt, like a white rose with dewdrops, incredibly beautiful.
Not only beautiful, but also calm.
The years he spent with her were not bad. He could even say he lived comfortably. But sometimes you only realize the value of something after losing it, and he regretted not keeping her four years ago.
Just then, his phone woke him up.
“Mr. Stuart, something’s happened with Miss Murphy.” It was Caleb on the phone. Brendon frowned, asking impatiently, “What’s Shannon done now?”
“She suddenly started live streaming online just now… anyway, see for yourself…” Caleb said and sent him a link.
Ranita, who hadn’t slept much, came out to see what was happening, unexpectedly hearing Shannon’s name.
