She didn’t want to play the game of indirect kissing with Brendon at all.
“Mummy, don’t you want to eat?” Ayaan pouted, “But it’s such a waste not to eat it, and Uncle Terry will definitely be sad too.”
Ranita, feeling helpless, had to open her mouth and be force-fed by Ayaan.
“What about Daddy? Does he want some?” Ayaan playfully blinked at Brendon, and in sync, Brendon, with a blank expression, still opened his mouth to continue eating.
Fortunately, there wasn’t much yogurt ice cream left.
Otherwise, Ranita really wanted to find a hole to hide in; it was just too embarrassing!
The yogurt ice cream smelled good, but she couldn’t taste anything, her shoulders tense the whole time, wondering how things had developed to this point.
With Ayaan around, the atmosphere was slightly better. Ranita and Brendon were both controlling themselves, trying to make the child feel a bit more warmth.
When accompanying Ayaan to sleep, he suddenly reached out and hugged Ranita’s neck, softly saying, “Mummy, I think Daddy is pretty good, can you like Daddy a bit more?”
Ranita chuckled, “You fickle little rascal, if Uncle Pearson knew you were betraying him, he’d definitely be upset.”
“But Uncle Pearson never calls me, I feel so sad.”
Mentioning Steve, Ranita was also a bit worried, but couldn’t contact him at all.
“Uncle Pearson is so capable, he’ll take care of himself! It’s you who won’t grow tall if you don’t sleep properly.”
“Didn’t you say you wanted to be a doctor like Uncle Pearson when you grow up?”
Ranita planted a goodnight kiss on his forehead, “Go to sleep now.”
“Mummy, wait.” Ayaan called out to her, “Actually, I’ve changed my mind now. I want to be a physicist when I grow up, or maybe a mathematician.”
Ranita chuckled softly, “Is that so? Whatever you want to be when you grow up, you need to sleep obediently now.”
Ayaan hugged his little blanket, wiggling his little feet, “Okay, goodnight Mummy.”
Ranita turned off the lights and closed the door.
As she walked out, she saw Brendon on the balcony making a phone call. Just as she was about to leave, Brendon noticed her, walked in, and hung up the phone.
Their conversation was brief, his voice deep and pleasant.
“Is Ayaan asleep?”
“Yeah! You should go wash up and rest too.” The atmosphere wasn’t great, Ranita’s tone was a bit harsh, “Your clothes are in the closet, find them yourself!”
After a pause, Ranita added, “Sorry you had to sleep on the couch last night.”
Just then, Ranita’s phone rang, it was Mr. Goodman calling, “Miss Bowman, have you seen the news online?”
“I’ve sent you the details, take a look when you have time.”
Ranita hadn’t checked her phone while she was with Ayaan.
Her heart skipped a beat, she furrowed her brows and asked, “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“It’s good news for Miss Bowman.” Mr. Goodman chuckled, “Rest early, we’ll talk about it later.”
“Mr. Goodman, about three hours ago… I encountered…” Ranita spoke softly, and Mr. Goodman became anxious.
“Don’t worry, it’s not your fault that people can’t enter the apartment complex.” Ranita said, giving a few low instructions before hanging up the phone.
Ranita opened the messages sent by Mr. Goodman, one by one. Inside were legal letters sent by different groups of lawyers, all issued around the same time to support her declaration.
And she was the center of attention in all of them.
