“Brendon, you… don’t mess around…” Ranita’s lips felt numb from the kiss, and her head was too hot to think straight.
The kiss continued, filled with resentment, freezing her skin with its icy breath.
Ranita felt uncomfortable.
Her breath became unstable, and every bit of resistance was suppressed by Brendon’s strength. In the end, she reluctantly stopped struggling.
Feeling aggrieved, tears welled up in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks.
Brendon tasted the saltiness, stopped in astonishment, and stared deeply into her eyes, wiping the tears from her cheeks before murmuring, “I’m sorry.”
He couldn’t control himself around Ranita.
Ranita avoided eye contact, trying to conceal her accelerated heartbeat and flushed ears. She coldly said, “Let’s go.”
The atmosphere turned cold.
They didn’t speak to each other.
Brendon wanted to say something, but the words choked in his throat. The kiss just now was a mistake born of frustration and confusion. She was disgusted, indifferent, none of it compared to her dislike.
Brendon’s heart felt like a hedgehog, throbbing painfully.
“You should go back!” Ranita issued the ultimatum again. Her fingers clenched tightly, her inner turmoil reaching an uncontrollable level.
But Brendon didn’t move.
“I’ll stay here tonight, just in case that person from earlier comes back. I’m afraid you might be in danger.” Brendon paused before adding, “I won’t do anything unnecessary.”
Ranita was infuriated by his words.
“Dare to try anything unnecessary?”
Ranita glared at him fiercely.
They say love is blind, and Brendon found Ranita’s glare utterly charming.
Brendon toyed with his fingers, wanting to pinch her cheek.
Especially with tear stains, she looked so vulnerable and tempting to tease.
“What are you looking at?” Ranita didn’t actually want Brendon to stay, but for safety reasons, she didn’t refuse. “Aren’t you coming in?”
Brendon silently followed behind the woman, keeping pace.
“Daddy!” Ayaan ran over when they returned, asking, “Mommy, did Uncle Terry leave?”
“Yeah! Don’t eat too much, or your stomach will ache.” Ayaan grew up abroad and didn’t have many dietary restrictions, but he was still young, and Ranita was afraid he might upset his stomach.
Ayaan listened to Ranita the most.
“Can I share with Daddy and Mommy?” Ayaan dug a spoonful and held it up to Ranita.
“Mommy, have a bite.”
Ranita couldn’t refuse Ayaan’s kindness, and praised, “It tastes really good.”
Brendon felt even more sour.
Indeed, the ice cream bought by one’s sweetheart always tastes especially delicious, right?
“Daddy, you should try it too!” Ayaan dug another spoonful and handed it to Brendon. Brendon looked at the ice cream, feeling particularly unwilling. Why would he eat something from his love rival?
Seeing Brendon hesitate, and knowing he had mild OCD, Ranita intercepted, “Ayaan, Mommy has used this spoon, it’s not hygienic. And Daddy doesn’t like…”
Before she could finish her sentence, Brendon squatted down slightly, biting the ice cream off the spoon and saying, “Delicious, thank you, Ayaan.”
“Mommy, have some more!” Ayaan fed Brendon and then aimed at Ranita.
Ranita: …
