Ranita acted as if she hadn’t noticed, waving at the reporter not far away, “Giovanna, Ms. Murphy is ready, please proceed!”
Shannon suppressed her anger, leaning close and whispering, “Ranita, you have such a malicious heart.”
Ranita scoffed coldly, “Ms. Murphy, you’re also quite skilled at turning the tables.”
Shannon was almost losing her composure due to anger.
The scene just now was extremely infuriating. Who would have thought that in one moment she was putting on an act and the next moment she was slapped in the face, and it was Ranita who did it.
Shannon’s face looked grim and she said, “Ranita, were you watching me make a fool of myself just now?”
Ranita chuckled, “Of course, it was quite an amusing scene. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
“Talking to yourself in such a theatrical manner, I wanted to praise your acting skills. Without your nomination, I don’t even want to watch this year’s Best Actress awards.”
Ranita honestly didn’t care about these matters. She was too busy to mind such things, though Eve occasionally told her some gossip which she listened to for amusement.
“You…” Shannon’s expression changed as she clenched her fist, appearing as if she wanted to hit Ranita. But the next moment, tears welled up in her eyes, and she pitifully said, “Ranita, how could you say that about me? What have I done to offend you…”
Just then, Giovanna arrived and immediately looked at Ranita, “Ms. Bowman, what’s going on here?”
“Giovanna, don’t misunderstand. I was just complimenting Ms. Murphy on her expressions. It would be such a waste if she didn’t pursue acting. I don’t understand what might have offended Ms. Murphy…” Ranita spoke softly, her expression completely innocent.
Giovanna, hired by Steland Monolith Technology and thus inclined towards her sponsor, said kindly, “So, it’s a compliment for Ms. Murphy.”
“Ms. Murphy, don’t misunderstand, Ms. Bowman certainly didn’t mean anything bad.”
“Time is ticking, let’s start the interview.”
Shannon clenched her fists tightly, glancing coldly at Ranita before walking away without a word.
Shannon then answered questions diligently in front of the camera, even playing a game on-site and performing a piece on the cello, finishing with a charming smile that made the crowd adore her.
Ranita remained calm on the side, but Cindy kept giving her dirty looks, and eventually came over smugly, “How about it? Shannon did wonderfully, didn’t she? Do you think you can measure up to her?”
Ranita found it rather ridiculous.
Praising Shannon didn’t have to involve belittling her. No wonder those around Shannon were of the same ilk.
“Ms. Cindy, to be honest, I don’t think I am any worse than Ms. Murphy. Everything I have, I obtained through my efforts. Ms. Murphy? Relying on sweet-talk and feigned innocence? Excuse me if I don’t agree.”
Cindy’s face went dark, she wanted to erupt but couldn’t, forcing herself to endure the anger.
Ranita crossed her arms, and lazily added fuel to the fire, “Ms. Cindy, your horizon is rather limited.”
Cindy was furious.
She gritted her teeth, her voice cracking with restrained anger, “Ranita, just you wait.”
Ranita smiled slightly and ignored Cindy.
“Ms. Bowman, could you come over for a moment?” Giovanna called Ranita over, “We need you both for a group photo.”
Shannon and Ranita both reacted with a grimace.
“Sure!” Ranita approached, but just as she stood there, Giovanna’s alarmed voice came, “Watch out!”
With those words, the iron frame above them wobbled as it came crashing down…
