Olivia was utterly speechless.
“Ranita, don’t show mercy to her. Let’s call the police right away and have them deal with this!” Olivia, being an intellectual, smirked and warned, “Francisco, and Mrs. Cole, extortion is punishable by imprisonment.”
Francisco glared at Olivia, clearly displeased. “Olivia, can’t we just talk this out…”
“Shut up! Let me handle this!” Mrs. Cole grabbed Francisco, scrambled up from the ground, and pointed at Olivia’s nose, cursing furiously, “Olivia, you have no shame, seducing men, and now we’re in the wrong for asking our money back? You even want to send us to prison?”
“Do you have any conscience? I don’t care; if you don’t give us the money, I’m moving in here!”
“What are you talking about… you…” Olivia was so angered that she felt a stomach ache, her hands trembling.
“Olivia, calm down.” Ranita held Olivia, calmly dialing her phone. The hospital security had been on standby outside for a while but had hesitated to act, fearing that any incident involving this shrew could implicate them.
The hospital had stationed police officers.
They arrived quickly.
After understanding the situation, the police officer advised Mrs. Cole, clearly exasperated, “Let’s discuss this matter at another time. For now, you should go home.”
Mrs. Cole refused to leave and began making a scene in front of the police. The officer, already losing patience, snapped, “What’s all the ruckus? This is a hospital, not your home! If you keep causing trouble, I’ll take you to the station!”
Mrs. Cole was startled.
After a moment, she pouted reluctantly, “Why are you being so mean? You’re all the same, just bullying us plain folks.”
The police officer chuckled angrily at this.
“What are you saying? Do you really want to go to the station?” He was utterly speechless. “All of you, disperse right now!”
“It’s so late already. You’re disturbing the other patients. Go home.”
Mrs. Cole left in a huff with Francisco.
Only then did Olivia let out a sigh of relief, still fuming. “Ranita, how can there be such people in this world! It’s just…”
“You should be thankful. Luckily, you didn’t marry Francisco. If you had, you’d be bullied to death!”
Olivia nodded repeatedly, “Exactly! I must have been blind before, thinking it was enough for Francisco to treat me well. Now, seeing this, Francisco is not a good person, and his mom is even worse.”
Olivia was genuinely furious, not holding back at all.
Ranita quietly listened to her vent, then comforted, “Don’t think too much. Focus on recovering.”
“Leave the rest to me.”
After the commotion, it was already very late. Olivia felt deeply apologetic, “Ranita, it’s all my fault for troubling you.”
“Don’t say that. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have gotten hurt. It’s me who feels guilty.”
Worrying that Mrs. Cole and Francisco would come back to harass them, Ranita immediately arranged for Olivia to change hospitals.
Though she wasn’t particularly fond of Tranquil Valley Private Hospital, their security was indeed top-notch and could effectively keep people like Mrs. Cole out.
After settling Olivia, Ranita was ready to head home. As she reached the entrance, a car stopped in front of her and the window rolled down to reveal Chris’ face.
He smiled and said, “I’ll give you a ride.”
In the car, Ranita asked, “Why are you here? It was already troublesome enough to ask you to arrange the transfer…”
Chris reassured her, “I just met up with a friend and was on my way home. I thought I’d drop by to check on you. How’s your friend?”
