Ranita rubbed her forehead.
She quickly comforted the little one, “Ayaan, Mommy didn’t mean to leave you behind! It’s just an unexpected turn of events.”
“How about this, we’ll go see Aunt Eve this weekend, and buy a little cake to celebrate together, okay?”
“I don’t want cupcakes, I don’t like them,” Ayaan thought for a moment and offered his own idea: “I want pizza.”
“And also, you need to call Aunt Eve and make an appointment with her,” Ranita had to call Eve, and of course, Eve agreed to everything Ayaan asked for, repeatedly promising.
Ranita thought she had settled it, but then Ayaan climbed onto her lap again, looking at her with big, watery eyes, and said pitifully, “Mommy, why doesn’t Daddy come home every day?”
“Ayaan misses him.”
Ranita’s hand, which was flipping through the documents, froze.
Why doesn’t Brendon come back?
This question really makes Ranita feel heartbroken.
Is he now comforting Shannon? Lena told her to leave, but it’s not necessary, as Ranita doesn’t have the ability to make Brendon do whatever she says.
“Ayaan, Daddy has his own life.”
Hearing this, Ayaan looked a bit lost.
He nodded as if he understood, “In the book, it says that after mom and dad divorce, they won’t be together.”
Ayaan reached out and hugged Ranita, “Mommy, I won’t look for Daddy anymore. I don’t want you to be sad and upset.”
“Mommy is not sad or upset. Because I have the most special Ayaan by my side.” Ranita pinched his little face, feeling both sour and bitter.
Ayaan giggled, “Then when Grandpa gets better, let’s go back, okay? I want to be with Mommy and Uncle Pearson.”
Although Ayaan is young, he can observe that Ranita is happier in their old home.
She is busy, but always smiling, and plays with Uncle Pearson together.
“Mommy also wants to go back, but Grandpa is not well, and we might have to stay in Kurima for a while longer.”
After a pause, Ranita continued, “You can continue to live here, or go back to Steland?”
Ayaan shook his head, “I want to be with Mommy!”
Ranita rubbed his little nose, “Alright, you can continue to live here, but be good…”
Before Ranita could finish her sentence, the doorbell rang.
“Hello, we are from the property management.” When the door opened, there were two security guards outside, and a pungent smell filled the air.
Ranita’s eyebrows twitched.
“What’s wrong…”
“Come out and take a look!” The security guard pointed to the door, “We just checked the surveillance and found someone lingering outside your door, smearing something, so we rushed over to check.”
Ranita walked out, and her eyes narrowed.
There were big, red unknown paint on the door and the white wall next to it, spelling out the words “Go Die” in large letters!
The rich color was bright and shocking.
A drop after drop, like blood columns, dripped to the ground, looking particularly striking.
Ranita was brave, and she approached a bit closer.
She sniffed, and the red liquid was paint. It just looked terrifying, had some smell, and was not dangerous.
An old security guard who knew Ranita was worried and said, “Miss Bowman, have you offended anyone? Should we call the police?”
Ranita, of course, would call the police.
After a lot of trouble, the police left, and it was almost midnight. Ranita leaned wearily against the sofa, wondering who had been threatening her like this.
